  1. I couldn't agree more! It's a perfect combination of Parachutes rawness with Viva emotion. Midnight is the only song that I find more haunting.
  2. 42 - 12 Speed of Sound - 10 Warning Sign - 8
  3. Danielle Denmark - Jonathan Roy If there are any ice hockey fans here, Jonathan Roy is the son of legendary Colorado Avalanche and Montreal Canadiens goalie Patrick Roy.
  4. Twisted Logic: "Sunlight opened up my eyes" UFO: "Sunlight comes streaming through the holes" Daylight: "To my surprise, and my delight. I saw sunrise, I saw sunlight" "And the clouds burst to show daylight" Us Against the World: "Morning come bursting the clouds, amen" I'm thinking of so many of these lyrical connections right now... :p
  5. Yellow: "Look at the stars, look how they shine for you" Ink: "See the stars begin to shine" Moving to Mars: "Somewhere up above the stars" Chris has a clear obsession with stars here. :D
  6. Glass of Water - "Will I see heaven in mine?" Atlas - "Heaven, we hope, is just up the road" ETIAW: "Heaven is in sight" And a less explicit connection to the same idea: U.F.O. - "I know, I swear, we'll find somewhere the streets are paved with gold" Paradise - most of the song :)
  7. That's funny, I don't remember Chris saying "love and gratitude" at all but it sounds to me like a tease! It could be a song title, a little like "falling snow" on his outfit. What if Falling Snow is a Christmas Lights kind of song that somehow fits in with the album's themes? Or, as someone said a while ago, a hint of a December release date (which of course people from the southern hemisphere wouldn't understand).
  8. I do think their best days are behind them (my personal belief is they were last at their peak in early 2010). However, I won't necessarily count out the possibility of reaching those heights again. It won't be on AHFOD. Instead it will be after the Parlophone deal has expired. That being said, I think that AHFOD will at least be a step in the right direction. The supposed experimentation with Indian influences is what gives me hope.
  9. @ov3la Not another Monday! ;) I think Fridays are more likely but we might get a tease, the full single audio on YouTube, or a random secret gig at a tiny club in London in which the band plays the entire new album with special guests Jonny Greenwood and Richard Ashcroft. With the band being this quiet, we just don't know. :D
  10. We Never Change vs Somewhere Only We Know (Keane)
  11. It's so strange that both versions the same song have tied... I honestly thought LiT ii would last a little longer than this, I hope it stays alive. Somebody please vote!! I highly suggest LiT but you may vote as you please. ;)
  12. We're all wanting a release so badly that we unconsciously move off-topic discussion onto this thread. ;) I'd wait for A Head Full of Dreams til kingdom come... until my days are done...
  13. It is not wonderfully clear today because there have been a fair bit of clouds but the sun has still been out most of the day. It is 72 degrees Fahrenheit which is about 23 degrees Celsius. So, it's generally been nice outside... a perfect balance of warmth and a cool breeze.
  14. I think you're right... but I do hear something right before it though and it's covered up by the lead vocal. I am listening through my laptop's speakers.
  15. I need a better pair of headphones. :p I know Chris is singing something in that spot but all I've ever heard is a mumble. There's something about the intonation of that mumble that does suggest he's saying "oceans," though...
  16. I listen to GS Live 2014 more than I listen to the actual album. I think every song sounds better live, especially Oceans. The mixes are better, the acoustic guitar sounds better, and the atmospherics are better. Even Another's Arms, which I really dislike on the actual album, sounds much better live.
  17. Several times, they've toured before an album release so any shows in November aren't completely out of the question. Actually, I think the only era where they played no full-length shows prior to dropping an album was Viva. There was an extensive pre-Parachutes tour, a summer tour before AROBTTH, secret gigs before X&Y, festivals and two stadium shows before MX, and several shows before GS.
  18. I'm going to try tweeting Mat Whitecross. I'm just going to kindly ask if he's working on anything with Coldplay. Maybe he will tease us like Rik Simpson is. :p I'm not very hopeful that I will get a response, because he doesn't really seem to reply to tweets, but I am still going to try. If he somehow does respond, I promise I will post it here. :D
  19. Amsterdam "I know I'm dead on the surface, but I am screaming underneath..."
  20. Even GS, which is the most Chris-centric album Coldplay have ever made, still has its moments that didn't come from him. After all, Magic came from Guy playing around with a bassline and Midnight is a rework of a Jon Hopkins composition. The band is still a democracy... if they wanted a 40-20-20-20 split, the whole band approved of it. Everything needs to be approved by every member. I'm sure Phil gets a lot of input as well.
  21. Such a slow day... maybe it is the calm before the storm. ;)
