Random Coldplay thoughts...
It's been years since that moment... and I've still never heard of a rift in the band or serious split rumors. They would never be the same without each other, they are all irreplaceable. Not many bands have kept their original lineup this long.

ELIMINATION #4: VIVA LA VIDA OR DEATH AND ALL HIS FRIENDS
The Goldrush I love both it and Death Will Never Conquer but Viva La Vida is better than either song so it must be saved.

The epic COLDPLAY vs. COLDPLAY game - everything against everything
Exeter. I've never been outside the United States but it looks smaller and less crowded. Plus, a few of my ancestors who sailed to America in the 1600s (one was a prominent colonial founder) can be traced all the way back to 16th century Exeter. By the way that GCF performance of Yellow is one of my favorites. I adore the whole thing, especially that ending. :) Chris playing guitar vs. Chris playing piano

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
Amazing Day would be a solid album closer. It's not Amsterdam or Til Kingdom Come but it's still a nice mellow celebration of how amazing life is. If that's the general theme of the album, it could be a good conclusion.

Amazing Day
I think Guy needs to sing more. You don't get to hear him very often, usually he only sings backing vocals when the rest of the band is singing. Jonny sings a little solo verse on Don't Panic and Will sings lead vocals on The Goldrush as well as a couple of live songs. They need to get Guy to sing a lead vocal part!

Strawberry Swing That song makes me tear up almost every single time I hear it...

Greetings from Singapore!
That's right, music crosses all borders... I have a friend who lived in Japan for 4 years. He recently introduced me to a popular Japanese band called Mr. Children. They are quite well-known in their country but unheard-of everywhere else. They sing in very little English but musically I like what I am hearing. :)

The epic COLDPLAY vs. COLDPLAY game - everything against everything
Major Minus. There's more Jonny (some of his best guitar playing in my opinion) and more Guy (just listen to that bassline). The lyrics are also amazing... Speed of Sound (album version) vs Speed of Sound (MX tour stripped down version)

And I asked every book Poetry and chime "Can I post only once this time?" Oh, thanks God You must've heard when I prayed Because now I always Want it to be this way

Amazing Day
Me! :D ;) Amazing Day is one of the better tracks of the past few years, so I'm interested to see what they have to offer on the full album. There's no way that it's a charity-only song. Otherwise it would probably already be available for download and they wouldn't debut it with the AHFOD stage design and outfits. I would like to point out that the band has been extremely quiet about the song since yesterday...

Amazing Day
Some criticism is okay. If we all love Coldplay then we ought to voice our opinions. I'm all for productive and constructive criticism. But when half the thread is ranting the same thing over and over that's when I start to get annoyed. There's no need to repeat what's already been said to death.

Amazing Day
Yes. *sigh* I figured this would happen upon the release of a new song. I can't imagine what will happen when the first single (the India MV one) comes out. Since it's supposed to sound like Paradise, I'm expecting the reaction to be even more negative.

Greetings from Singapore!
Hi Crystal! Welcome to Coldplaying! :) I became a fan by listening to X&Y, though that was around when MX came out. Coldplay have gotten me through so much... X&Y clicked with me right in the middle of the darkest times of my life so thank goodness I had them. They will always be a part of me, regardless of what their future holds. As for those other artists you enjoy, you have some brilliant taste! I should give those local bands a listen... there are some real gems outside the realm of British and North American rock.

===The ultimate Oldplaying Thread===S, BS, TBR, P, AROBTTH, X&Y, VLV, PM===
If Coldplay ever return to more of the predominantly rock sound of Oldplay, Steve Lillywhite would be an interesting choice as a producer... I imagine the result sounding like U2's How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. The album would probably include some of Jonny's best work.

Amazing Day
Of the past 100 or so posts in this thread, this is one of maybe 10 that are worth reading. I'm glad I stayed out of the Newplay vs. Oldplay vs. Allplay war that ensued for the past 10-ish pages. Anyway, a day after my first listen to Amazing Day, and even as someone who prefers the first four Coldplay albums, I still enjoy the song. I'm fine with the lyrics. They are most certainly not among the best but I enjoy the peaceful mood that they set. There aren't enough of these joyful songs that aren't generic, cliche, commercial, etc. Regarding the mention of God in the lyrics, it's odd I've never seen this reaction before. There are multiple instances where God is mentioned in lyrics, as well as a couple of minor biblical references, but they don't get the attention that just one God-mentioning lyric in Amazing Day has received. I believe in God and I have no problem with it. I'm not going to attack atheists around here over their opinion regarding religious motifs in lyrics. Lastly, we all just need to relax. There's a new Coldplay song and if you don't enjoy it then there's no guarantee that the rest of AHFOD will be identical.

ELIMINATION #4: VIVA LA VIDA OR DEATH AND ALL HIS FRIENDS
Lhuna I've never considered it that great of a song... I wish Chris had a bigger role, in my opinion it's more of a Kylie ft. Coldplay track than Coldplay ft. Kylie.
