  1. Somewhere in Roadie 42's blog it tells the story of a mad search on the day of an MX tour show for a piano to replace 2 broken ones. They very nearly didn't get it! At least today's show was a short set so the lack of a functioning piano was no big deal. Despite the bad start to Yellow it was a pleasant surprise in the setlist after being mostly absent from the GS shows. I think they had a lot of fun with that song today.

I think the outfits are more of a casual take on the MX look. They look less like costumes and more like something you'd see the band wearing off stage.
  3. I'm enjoying Amazing Day a lot, even after 10 listens lol. If it ends up on AHFOD then I think it's a good sign that I'm going to enjoy the album. After listening to the soundcheck recording it reminded me of Trouble and Strawberry Swing. Now it also reminds me of the verses of In My Place. There's nothing in the song that Coldplay have never done before and it does not reach the level of Oldplay but it's still one of the better post-Viva songs. I like it better than Miracles, most of GS, and a lot of MX.
  4. I tried to resist the temptation to listen to the full song but I couldn't help myself!!!! Even though it is a poor quality recording I really enjoy it. :) The band has rediscovered how to achieve that gorgeous melody without sounding too poppy. I'm getting some Strawberry Swing and Trouble vibes.
  5. Exactly! Everyone who hears Don't Panic for the first time without hearing the title just calls the song Beautiful World. Same thing with Politik... everyone I've encountered who doesn't know the title calls it Open Up Your Eyes. The point I'm trying to make is that this new song's title could be anything. Just because Chris is singing "Amazing day, amazing day" a lot doesn't mean that the song is called Amazing Day.
  6. Brothers and Sisters EP because the majority of Safety just got re-released on The Blue Room. A View From the Top vs. the clips from the new song :D
  7. I don't see why they'd soundcheck a GS leftover when the GS era has been behind them for 9 months. The only reason to do that would be if the song is a non-album charity single or an AHFOD track.
  8. Okay, here's my reaction... I hear a lot of Always in My Head in this, there's the same basic rhythm. For that reason, the drumming is similar, except this time those are real drums!!! :D :will: In my opinion the song doesn't replicate anything from MX or GS except maybe AIMH. I'm ecstatic now, I can't wait one bit for the whole track even tho it's supposedly not the India song. Maybe that means we'll get two new songs rather than one...
  9. Dammit. This is what happens on the one day that I'm too busy to check for anything new. :sad2: I better go listen to those snippets...
  10. Is it just me or does the X&Y era have the most of these instances? I think the lyrics are more closely intertwined than those of any other era.
  11. The video didn't load correctly for me at first for whatever reason. :D So when I saw this post I panicked thinking it's the real leaked music video lol.
  12. The lyric "dance all night" does not bother me; the context of the song is the question. Besides, if the album's lyrics are going to be better overall based on what we have seen, I'm fine with a few less innovative lyrics. After all, nobody seems to judge the line "You know I love you so" from Yellow, which is nowhere near Chris' peak as a lyricist.
  13. That one was Speed of Sound. I could go on and write a post more fitting for the "How did you discover Coldplay?" thread but in short it was the first Coldplay song that made me truly want to start discovering their music. Because of that, it has a lot of sentimental value to me.
  14. White Shadows has to win!!!! Talk doesn't quite compare to it or Square One.
  15. Talk The song that made me a fan is gone. :(
  16. Well, Adele's new album is coming in November so I would not completely count that out. I'd still like to think that the album will drop in late October as long as we get a single in 1-2 weeks.
  17. That's really interesting... you never get to listen to a little clip of the band playing around in the studio. Even if these particular clips are a few years old, they are fascinating.
  18. ^ Viva La Jedi or Darth And All His Friends
  19. To me, Guy doesn't look like he's aged much at all in the past decade so it's not the entire band that looks older. :P
  20. No problem, I Ran Away! This was interesting so maybe I'll think of some other game to start but for now I'm kicking back and watching the band's Glastonbury 2005 set. Though it was not my number one choice, the X&Y era was amazing. Had I been born ten years before my actual birthday, I could've had the opportunity to experience that era as it happened. I would've given anything to see the Twisted Logic Tour.
  21. I agree. Maybe the band thought of two different ideas for an album after Mylo Xyloto. The first could have been the more stripped-down record that they talked about near the end of the MX era. That album became Ghost Stories when Chris and Gwyneth's marriage began to fall apart. The second record would continue the brightness and scale of Mylo Xyloto while exploring new influences. I think the band likes to plan things in advance... according to Roadie 42's blog they first returned to the studio to begin work on LP5 in 2008. That was three years before the album was released! Perhaps AHFOD has been sitting in their minds for a few years and only now the idea is coming to fruition.
