The BBC has defended Graham Norton after he admitted in an interview he had tried "loads of drugs". The TV star, who hosts the BBC's Strictly Dance Fever and Graham Norton's Bigger Picture, also described ecstasy as "just fantastic". Norton, 43, was criticised by anti-drug groups for the comments he made during an interview for Marie Claire magazine. But the BBC said his comments were aimed at an "adult audience" and did not affect his ability as a TV host. Norton joined the BBC from Channel 4 two years ago and in August signed a new three-year deal. Norton told the magazine: "The only time I took ecstasy was years and years ago. It was absolutely amazing…

Sales of mobile ringtones are in decline Last updated at 13:08pm on 5th October 2006 Mobile phones: Ringtones are in decline Last year he topped the charts. Now the Crazy Frog's days look numbered. Sales of mobile phone ringtones are in terminal decline, says research out today. The rogue practices of some companies as well as the increasing availability of tracks and videos on mobile phones signal the death knell for tinny jingles. It will come as a huge relief to those fed up with the incessant, poor quality reproductions of chart hits and TV theme tunes - not to mention the Frog's teethgrindingly omnipresent squawl. And doubtless Coldplay…

Warning over 'broken up' internet The internet could one day be broken up into separate networks around the world, a leading light in the development of the net has warned. Nitin Desai, chair of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), set up by the UN, warned that concerns over the net's future could lead to separation. "People are concerned about whether the system we have now will also work five years from now," he said. Mr Desai was speaking at a conference in London to discuss the net. The conference was organised by Nominet, the UK body in charge of domain names ending .uk, ahead of the first-ever Internet Governance Forum, a global gathering of stakehold…

Something that has not been proven to exist cannot be a problem. Therefore, the alarm sounded by G. http://news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=1483252006 AIR travel chaos was avoided yesterday after Europe and the United States clinched a deal on giving American police agencies easier access to personal data on transatlantic air passengers. European airlines must pass on up to 34 items of data, including passenger addresses, telephone numbers and credit-card details., to be allowed to land at US airports. However, instead of accessing data directly from airlines, US authorities would have to request it. --------------------------------- I saw this news on tv and I was very impressed actually... 18. America flouted law by flying bombs to Israel through Britain By JASON LEWIS Last updated at 22:00pm on 7th October 2006 The US Government flouted British and international law to fly bunker-busting bombs through UK airports to bolster Israeli raids on Lebanon. Washington failed to tell Britain it was flying the weapons in and out of Prestwick in Scotland - potentially putting lives and the airport at risk. The revelation once again undermines Tony Blair's assertion that he has not allowed the country to become America's 'poodle'. The Crown Office in Scotland is considering prosecutions over two flights carrying consignments of laser-guided bombs which land…

Thailand's Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum in Pattaya planned to submit the attempt to the Guinness Book of Records. Khum, a part-time snake charmer for more than 12 years, urged children and onlookers not to try the feat. For years, we in America have supported Israel both financially and militarily because we perceived they were the innocent victims of hostile and violent neighbors. The US media has, for years, provided extensive coverage of every incident involving Arab-against-Israeli violence. From shootings, to car bombs to suicide bombers, we in America have seen it all. Or have we? Why would rational human beings, given a choice, choose to attack their neighbors rather than live together in peace? More pertinent, why would a rational human being choose to blow himself up rather than live? The Israelis, the US media and our politicians would have us believe that the Arabs are simp…
