I was just thinking - well, maybe Steve's right - Russia's economy has been strong enough to allow the old power bases to grow again in Russia, and start pushing their empire to enlarge by classic tactics in the neighboring states.. but then I also wonder if, because the economy there has been so uneven, and pensioners and military personel have suffered, as well as many in the industrial sector, that there's support for returning to the older "systems", and this has fueled the cooling.
