I know, I know, it's another one of those "Favorites" topics, but I have a few I'd like to share, and I'm sure there's a few Soundtrack nuts around here. Basically this includes compilation, new recording and orchestral soundtracks. Just post the soundtrack name, tracklisting and if you want, what you dig about these albums.

1. A Beautiful Mind

1. Kaleidoscope of Mathematics

2. Playing a Game of "Go! "

3. Looking for the Next Great Idea

4. Creating "Governing Dynamics"

5. Cracking the Russian Codes

6. Nash Descends into Parcher's World

7. First Drop-Off, First Kiss

8. Car Chase

9. Alicia Discovers Nash's Dark World

10. Real or Imagined?

11. Of One Heart, of One Mind

12. Saying Goodbye to Those You So Love

13. Teaching Mathematics Again

14. Prize of One's Life... The Prize of One's Mind - Charlotte Church

15. All Love Can Be

16. Closing Credits

Basically, what I love about is that it has a real haunty but yet sentimental feeling to whole film and basically, Horner, the composer, always does this in all of his films and so it really adds to the atmosphere

2. Donnie Darko

1. Carpathian Ridge

2. Tangent Universe

3. Artifact and Living

4. Middlesex Times

5. Manipulated Living

6. Philosophy of Time Travel

7. Liquid Spear Waltz

8. Gretchen Ross

9. Burn It to the Ground

10. Slipping Away

11. Rosie Darko

12. Cellar Door

13. Ensurance Trap

14. Waltz in the 4th Dimension

15. Time Travel

16. Did You Know Him?

17. Mad World [*]

18. Mad World [Alternate Version]

What can you say, while the film itself has ag reat selection of 80's music, the orchestral pieces really add the darkness and madness of the actual film and it really makes the mood of the film that much more. And well, Mad world is just brilliant so there you go lol

10. Recollections

11. House/Dream

12. I'm the Mirror/Not Alone

Basically, i really dig this soundtrack because I really feel that the music is really different and out there and it has a really eerie sort of feeling to it. Its just a bit off the wall and a bit diferent which is the reason why I like it

Well, my all-time favorite is the score for Koyaanisqatsi, composed by Philip Glass. It's a movie where the score is literally just as important as the images (because there's no dialogue or really even any plot). One of my favorite movies, and my favorite soundtrack. :D

And...

Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks is a score by Brian Eno for a documentary about the Apollo missions in the 60's and 70's. It's got some of the most eerily beautiful music I've ever heard. But that's what Brian Eno does best (even his non-soundtrack stuff sounds like a soundtrack to movies that don't exist).

And I don't know who exactly was on it, other than Air and My Bloody Valentine, but I just remember liking the music from Lost in Translation a lot. Vanilla Sky too, which I think was mentioned in another thread... that one had the Beach Boys, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Paul McCartney, REM, Spiritualized... and some more I can't remember off the top of my head.

Vanilla Sky is an amazing soundtrack.

Singles is the best soundtrack I've ever heard. Another Cmaeron Crowe music compilation. The music sits in perfectly with the movie.

Road To Perdition has my favorite movie score on it. The piano part when Michael Sullivan and his son are driving to Chicago is my favorite piano score in a movie ever.

one that i don't think that's been mentioned was the Score (not the soundtrack with Lenny Kravitz etc..) is American Beauty, by Thomas Newman. the guy is excellent i think...and his whole family are all composers, including half cousins etc...it's really weird

anyway, the score for that film is probably my favourite...i prefer schores rather than soundtrack...like Donnie Darko..(not including the extra 80's bonus trakcs)..although, i still like those songs. ;)

I agree, because a lot of the time, nowadays, a lot of soundtracks are just complilations of rock music that don't even appear in the film... :P
