THE **I LOVE HARRY POTTER** THREAD

Featured Replies

The Harry/Ginny kiss was soo pinchurriento (like we say here), it was so freaking tiny, it tasted like nothing, I wanted more. Come on! Ron and Lavender almost ate each other and Harry and Ginny pfff.

Ugh, I know. In the book, Ginny and Harry kissed in front of everyone after the quidditch match. But in the movie, they were alone in the Room of Requirement, and Ginny kept trying to make it all seductive, by telling Harry to close his eyes and stuff. Plus, the kiss itself was too short and just not... right.

That scene with Ron was hilarious

Random note: I always wished my university had a quidditch team.

:P I once went to a camp where quidditch was offered as a daily course/activity.

I disagree with the whole 'Ron and Hermoine had more chemistry than Ginny and Harry' bit. That whole romantic tension that went on with them was really well played out, I thought. And I thought the scene in the room of requirement was perfect, and a much better fit than it would have been if they had included the original scene (where they kiss in front of everybody.)

But then again, I love everything about this film. It was everything that OOTP was not (not to say I hate that movie, but it was weak.)

G-Force beats out Half-Blood Prince at box office

ronlavender2.jpg The Associated press is reporting that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince came in second at the U.S box office this weekend, behind Disney's G-Force.

The sixth installment in the Harry Potter franchise has now made $222 million total, which is $14 million ahead of where part five, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," was after 12 days in theaters in 2007. And this week, "Half-Blood Prince" will start showing on 166 IMAX screens, which the last "Harry Potter" movie did from the start.

Is it just me or is Harry & Hagrid going the wrong way in those last couple pictures?.

And Tnspieler, animated films do well in cinemas plus it's a Disney animated film so it's bound to do better as its a place to dump the kiddies to keep them quiet for a good hour and a half.;

hahaha they look hilarious in the moto haha

Meet Rufus Scrimgeour

Bill Nighy confirms role as Rufus Scrimgeour

nighy2.jpg British actor Bill Nighy has confirmed to CBBC Newsround that he will indeed play Rufus Scrimgeour in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:

The 59-year-old, who once joked he was the "only British actor who hasn't been in Harry Potter", told reporters of his new role at a book festival launch.

"I am in the next Harry Potter," he told reporters.

"I will be Rufus Scrimgeour, who is the Minister of Magic and he is a very very important man."

The news of Nighy's casting was initially confirmed by The Independent in the end of June, but at the time he did not reveal which character he was to play. Thanks to Snitch Seeker for the tip!

and lol...

New York Times looks at alcohol intake in HBP

hbpgroupposterthumb.jpg The New York Times has a look at the role of alcohol in the Harry Potter book series and film franchise--particularly, the latest film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Alcohol educators say that they don’t want to ruin the fun, but that parents should be aware of alcohol’s role in the Harry Potter series, the books as well as the movies. Several studies suggest that movies influence teenagers’ behavior when it comes to drinking, drugs and tobacco. An Institute of Medicine committee on under-age drinking has said there is “a strong possibility” that youth exposure to alcohol through movies contributes to early initiation of alcohol use.

...

Alcohol experts say this does not mean that children shouldn’t see the new Harry Potter movie. It actually presents an opportunity for parents to talk to their children about alcohol, says Dr. Christopher Welsh, a University of Maryland psychiatrist and addiction specialist.

I saw HBP for the second time today, and I have to admit that although it was still amazing, part of the reason I initially liked it so much before was because I saw it at midnight. I think the whole nerdy, midnight-showing, super-fan environment had some effect on how much I liked it. As opposed to today, when I saw it with my mom, who isn't a big Harry Potter fan.

...but it was still really awesome. :wacky:

Harry Potter...the STAR of kids & KING of teens!! Must read all books and watch all movies...desperately awaiting Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince!!!

yeah, you don't know what you've been missing

J.K. Rowling chair goes for 20,000 pounds

hp.jpg Last week we reported that the chair in which J.K. Rowling wrote her first two Harry Potter books would be re-auctioned for the Books Abroad charity.

Today, The Scotsman is reporting that the chair was sold for 20,000 pounds--one-third more than it went for last time it was auctioned.

Matthew Ford, the art dealer organising the sale, said: "It's a chair you would pay a tenner for in a junk shop but, historically, it's the most important chair in Muggledom, and probably one of the most exceptional and rare pieces of Harry Potter memorabilia ever likely to be offered for sale."

Twenty percent of the proceeds will go to the Books Abroad charity.

Here are the names of some of the attractions at the Harry Potter wizarding world amusement park...

Rides: Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff, Dragon Challenge

- Shops: Dervish and Banges, Honeydukes, Ollivanders, Zonko's and Owl Post.

- Restaurants: Three Broomsticks, Magic Neep and Butterbeer.
