i read that and the other two that are part of the triology (finished the last today!) and now i'll probably read "Todos os nomes" (all names) by José Saramago (Portuguese author who won the Nobel Prize in 1998)

A Season With Verona by Tim Parks. Good stuff by a great author.

Yes Man by Danny Wallace., rather life changing stuff. Considering its supposed to be a comedy book, it makes you stop and think. And say yes more.
