see the thing I have come to know about Interpol fans is that they are 'overwhelmed' by them... they engulf your entire being... your way of life.. and its for a good feeling at that! I know of only a few bands/artists that I like that have made an impact in my life for the better. Interpol being one of them. Not because they are cute.... not because they smoke.. but because the music speaks to me like no other.

The credibility these days is suffering, therefore the lines of whats trying to be cool (Killers on OC!) and what is the genuine music (Interpol, QOTSA to an extent) with pleasant marketing, nothing over the top.

Listen, I took it to directed at me because I am one of the many on this board who like the band.. they're my favorite band at the moment... over Coldplay even!!!! lol but I am not one to like music beacuse 'everyone' else is listening to it... thats not me. I never said they engulfed 'my life' persay... but they have changed my life.. as have Coldplay. Music in general is my way of life.. as a writer always looking for new experiences and means of expression.. I find music to be my favorite outlet. Interpol for me, provides that atmosphere no matter what people like at the moment or whatever 'trend' may be in.. I understand what you mean as far as the marketing overkill... yes, everyone wants to be the next big thing... the nest U2, the next Coldplay.. but thats not what Interpol is about. Any true Interpol fan would tell you that.. as for the 'whole fanatical' thing... I think its a bit extreme as well.. but I have met people like that.... :stunned: imagine how the band feels... :stunned: and they know this too... lol

I never said you listen to them purely because other people do, the thing I KEEP saying (Maybe like, 3, 4 times now?) is that if they werent talked about consistently on messageboards, Im sure you wouldnt post about them as much. and to the extent I'd say you'd be bored of them by now, that means coming on here and seeing interpol mania all the time means you're going to pop their CD on, as opposed to you probably have gotten bored of it 4 months ago.

 

It doesnt mean you go on and see Allessa post about them and go "wow I wanna be cool too!" its just natural, popularity bouncing off members and it comes back to you as well.

 

Had you liked Interpol from the 1st album (Which may have easily happened) you wouldnt have found a lot of people posting about them here, and therefore would you be posting about them?
