So exactly how long did they perform for in Hamburg, and how long did you have to wait afterwards before they emerged?

^i think it was 90 minutes, but they didn't start until 10 pm.

it was 1 am when fran came out ;) the rest maybe one hour earlier. when fran came out it started raining :dozey: but he didn't mind and was still very patient :nice:

So how come they started so late??:stunned:

And where was their tour bus parked?

the bus was like 80 meters away, because there was no space directly in front of the club.

no idea why it was so late, i was wondering that as well. but i knew it because my ticket said "einlass 20 uhr" ;) when we arrived at 5 pm, they were soundchecking - which was nice because we could not only hear them, but also see them through the door, heh.

1 am is pretty late. have you been the only one? think next time i just have to wait until the bus leaves :-D

20 songs on both concerts. so i suppose the length doesn't differ a lot.

(2007 it was the same)

^i think we were 10 people ;) but it was fun to wait, heh. when i looked at my watch before we left, i had no idea it was already that late ^^

yes, but the setlist is now three songs shorter than at the UK tour last year.

Boo!!:(

this is highly recommended as it is GREAT quality! and also, there's this funny microphone incident, because the stand was too loose for poor fran! :laugh3: was fun to watch, lol... at the end of the song it caused him to scream at the roadie "JUST GET A NEW STAND!!" xD

eleena, where are youu? i need information about last night, hehe

Sarah, here I am... ;)

I don't have much time to write a detailed review but so far, all I can say is: It was absolutely AMAZING!!! I enjoyed the concert so much and I didn't want it to end as the boys were phenomenal and my best friend and I had such a great time! :)

I guess the setlist was quite the same as the one they had in Hamburg... The only surprise for me was "Indefinitely" because for some reason I didn't expect them to play that one. They also played the two B-Sides which I'd never heard before but I immediately loved them! Especially "Ring out the bell" was beautiful with Dougie singing the vocals! :) Well, I don't know how much Fran usually talks, but he didn't seem to be too chatty yesterday... I somehow imagined him to be a little bit more talkative. He still was very charming, though. ;)

Gotta go now, but more details will follow as soon as possible. ;)

aaww, great :) i'm so happy that you had a great time

and wow, "indefinitely", i love that song  like fran said to me, they're indeed trying many different things at the moment - i like that the setlist is always changing a bit.

well, yes, fran used to talk a bit more in the past, i also recognized that he recently has become slightly quieter ;)

for everyone who's interested, here's dougie singing ring out the bell and fran playing bass / wandering around :D

:bigcry: It was amazing ! Best birthday present ever ! I know I said I would write a review, but I can't really right now. You'll have it by the end of the week, Sarah :)

wow, the pics are brilliant, thanks for sharing!! :)

Great band also.there last CD was not really the style of music i liked.but the other albums are fantastic.

^well, there are many different opinions about ode... many people say it's their best album to date ;)

Ode to J Smith is actually my fave :wacky:

Marsu, those pics are fab, thanks a lot!

quick review..

The support act was pretty good. The Alexandria Quartet, to remember. It was a great band to start the night with. Got us in the right mood for the rest of the evening.

Travis went on at about 9pm, I think. The good thing with such small venues is that you can hear everything from people screaming at the very back of the venue to the band pushing their pedals. I love it. Love the very intimate atmosphere. You kinda feel like the band actually sees you individually, you're not just a small dot surrounded by 10,000 other people. Being front row helped a lot with that feeling

What can I say ? Travis was fantastic! I must admit I probably watched less than 5 live videos before going to this gig, so everything was unknown to me. I was amazingly surprised! As I said Ode is probably my fave album, so I can only say GREAT OPENING ! :D

they played for 1h35 which I thought was very reasonnable. But I can understand people might have been upset if they were used to longer shows in the past.. I would have been very pleased if they'd stayed longer. Although my legs were fucking soaring (Fran's words) after Why does it always rain on me..

Flowers in the window was the big "WOW" of the night for me.. I fell in love with that song. It was sooooo cute (sorry I'm being cheesy here :embarassed:) !

i think that's it.. Dont know what else I could say :P

Oh, yeah !!! something that really hit me in the face, if that's the right term, eye contact ! Man, the interaction with the audience was so great. They kept smilling, laughing and looking at everybody.. and that is something you cannot not notice, especially with a band like Travis. That's another plus for small venue ! (I wish Coldplay were like that :disappointed:) and you were right Sarah, not being sold out didnt make any difference :nice:

As for the favourite-album-question: Well, I'd say my favourite's "The boy with no name" as it actually was the album that made me fall in love with Travis. ;) That's why I was kind of sad they only played "Selfish Jean" and "Closer", but I should say I really like the songs of Ode, too. :)

@marsu: Thanks for sharing the photos with us! They're totally beautiful! And aww, you met Dougie...

@Chavi: Nice review! :) I have to agree with you, The Alexandria Quartet did a great job. My friend even bought their album, so now I can listen to their songs again. :)

Wow, it's already a week ago when I saw them in Munich and I still have to think a lot about that great time I had. :) I hope I'll get the chance to see them again someday soon! :)

I uploaded all of my videos on Youtube, just in case anybody's interested. I'm afraid the sound quality sucks at some parts (especially during the "louder" songs), but the "acoustic" ones are pretty nice. :)

Here's "Falling down":

Thanks :) yeah TAQ was cool. We also bought the single and the vinyl they were selling after the show, took a pic with them, and talked to the singer. That was nice.

It's a lovely video. I kinda wish I was in the middle so I could've danced with Fran :P

Btw, the accent  I could listen to him saying random words like 'band, background' and 'about' all the time.. haha sorry I'm being girly again

and they can speak French .. Cute !

Ohh, those are your videos! I didn't realise that; thanks for sharing them, no matter the quality. I've been watching Falling Down all the time this past week. It's always been one of my favourite Travis songs and I still can't believe I finally got to hear them play it, I feel so lucky. (Even though it killed me a bit live; yup, admittedly, I got 'a tad emotional' =p)

my sister's vid of Flowers in the window...

Great video. I loooove Flowers In The Window.

@elena: aawwww, i so love that "falling down" vid  thanks. it's weird but great seeing fran on stage during the whole song with no instrument...

and i agree, the alexandria quartet was a very good support. but unfortunately they were far too loud in hamburg, so that was a bit annoying. i was worried about my ears because i already have problems and forgot my earplugs  but yeah, apart from that i really liked their sound.

@chavi: "chinese blues" is a great opener indeed  it's my fav song at the moment.

and yes, i totally agree about the eye contact - it's so nice :nice:

i think it's really sad you don't get that at a coldplay gig. i mean, when i was front row at the sidestage in berlin, they looked everywhere but down to the fans :(
