Owen, if you want the song, you gotta come online!!

More Cowbell!!

I think it's a vibraphone. Similar to a xylophone. Not sure though, could just as easily be spoons. :)

I adore the "spoons". WOAH the first time I heard that part! Fits great!

Maybe it's Chris playing the spoons :)

I would have thought it was will but it might be chris.

yeah i think it's will. he does a lot of the extra stuff :P shakers, ect

 I thought it was just me who spotted these spoon-like sounds! Everyone else seems to think I'm crazy :P

hahahahaha 2mins in yeah? dodgy vision of chris shimmying round the stage giving it some spoonage!

hahaha! it's Brian Eno !!!!! Take a look inside the cover-book :) ... and it's nothing but synthesizers and it's great...

it starts off sounding a bit like a vibraphone but then then sustain on the sound diminshes and it ends up sounding more like the bell on a hi-hat or something like that. IMHO anyway

yeah they are a metalic sound, maybe a spoon. :idea2:

this is very U2esche

I listen sounds like this on others groupd, not just u2. :idea2:

see M.O. with his bells, and bruno sanfilippo have sound of lil instruments on his songs too that make them sound more exotic.

...this has probably been already posted, but Chris and Jonny said they used wine glasses..while recording they would goof off at times, and act like "school boys" playing with new sounds...and "low" was the only song kept w/ the extra sound effects.

haha, oh man i'm glad i'm not the only one to notice the spoons. made me chuckle.

Is that really it? Well, there ya go.

It has to be some type of percussion. On the mtv live show Will was using the cymbals to sort of recreate the sound. It has to be Will on the album and it does not sound like synths.

:idea2: Yes, wine glasses! I heard that too. I'm glad they kept that bit in, because it sounds sooooo gooooood!
