You know, I really hate all those grunge thing from the 90's... There are few good bands I got to know during the 90's and they are: James, Happy Mondays and Teenage Fanclub :P

I got to know them during the 90's, but they´re no good

x&y is miles better than kid a. I also love radiohead' date='but they are now two very different bands. ;)[/quote']

Hmm, I think Kid A is the better album. But either way, I wouldn't make a spectacle of myself saying so.

Hear, hear!

I'm a huge fan of Coldplay (I saw them in 2002, and on Aug 20th, I see them again. :) ) but I was also disappointed with X&Y. Chris Martin's high-pitched voice, cliched lyrics, synths.. I wish Coldplay would go back and did what they did with Parachutes.

And saying that Coldplay is better than Radiohead is like saying Oasis is better than U2.

They're both great bands that's true. They're great musicians making quality music, they have fans all over the world, and I think most of the Coldplay fans like Radiohead too.

I love Radiohead's music but I love Coldplay more and I know them better as people too...

I love both Coldplay and Radiohead, but it has to be said, Radiohead are slightly better. When Coldplay make their OK Computer I'll consider them on a par...

Radiohead will be remembered for all the right reasons, Coldplay for all the wrong ones. I mean, let's not fuck around, for all Radiohead's faults (and they are myriad, especially in the last few years, or prior to the release of The Bends), they made two excellent records that were culturally relevant, challenging (at least to mainstream perceptions), technically impressive, emotionally charged, and progressive. Coldplay have two very average ones and a third that should, if there were any justice in the world, drop off the face of the planet. In forty years they will be forgotten.

i love street spirit' date=' that's not the point. what those fuckers at the radiohead forums have to realise is that coldplay ARE NOT simillar to ANY BAND in ANY WAY. they are unique, and have given the music industry something decent to hold on to in an era filled with bullshit. and most of them listened to X&Y with a closed mind, anyway. the only sensible people on that forum that actually said the new album was decent because they didn't listen while listing down the artists coldplay got ideas from have been drowned out by idiots who are just looking for excuses to complain.[/quote']

this will be fun to comment on:

TWISTED LOGIC < You Never Wash Up After Your Self. i'm glad coldplay can blatantly rip off a radiohead B-side and pray to god that no one knew it. sorry.

you also quoted me about coldplay having three of the same albums and insulting the fact that coldplay has three note solos.

SORRY, i didn't really listen hard enough to hear that it was really three chord solos, my mistake. i'm glad you can pick out Street Spirit to compare in example to any coldplay song. I was comparing originally to Paranoid Android, but since you want to play with street spirit, let's do it.

Here's the guitar tabs to street spirit:

Here's the guitar tabs to coldplay's popular works:

well shit! it looks like coldplay is just leaps and bounds above radiohead, doesn't it? I dont think so, either.

the comment about three identical records comes from the fact that the band has yet to challenge themselves to musically progress in any way shape or form. arobtth had a great deal more piano-driven songs, cool. x&y is just the same. the only album with substantial difference in sound would be parachutes, and that's because they where still finding their niche. clocks and speed of sound are nearly identical, i'd surely love to hear the guy who did the nickelback layered song to do these.

and i wont even touch the extend of why coldplay blatantly stealing radiohead's you never wash up after your self is brutally retarded and sickening.

furthermore, someone on this board said U2+COLDPLAY >Radiohead. i'm glad it takes two bands to be better than one. You prooved my point almost immediately there. Sure, some radiohead fans are rabid assholes, but alot of us try music, and appreciated it. i'm not going to goto the extent i like coldplay, i can tolerate some songs more than others, and they're catchy enough as a group, however, lets think about the fact that it is based on opinion, and when one fanbase finds a song that's identical to a b-side of their band's, they will rant and rave, besides the ernominous and continual debate between coldplay and radiohead sounding the same.

the fact is, at one point, yes, the bands had a great deal of similarities, however, recent radiohead has blown coldplay out of the water (Arpeggi, the newest tune, that is), and is completely incomparible, i agree, and i'll go so far to say Keane has more weight in that battle than coldplay, however, it does not change the fact that people are still saying 'coldplay and radiohead are retarded brothers'.

socrates himself said it best, with any justice, X&Y will drop off the face of the earth, and parachutes/rush are merely average. theres no fault in average record, and, if i made a record that was A rush of blood to the head, i'd be completely psyched and by all means it'd be stellar, however, coldplay has received enough hype and press to kill a mule, but still haven't delievered. 'THE NEXT U2' ? You've got to be kidding me. to be the next U2 you've got to have politically charged and inspirational music that's almost instantly classic. And sure, U2's had some rough records, we all know that, however, it's excusable after the fact that War, Joshua Tree, Unforgettable Fire, etc. where released before. Once you become incredibly inspirational and challenging to a listener, you can release 2 sub-par albums and one shitter.

love and kisses!

comeback kid (only on atease)

I've only have The Bends. And it's really good.

The My Iron Lung EP has just 7 songs (not counting the acoustic version of Creep at the end). And it certainly blows away X&Y and plenty of superior albums. Get that.
