I am a fan of both bands, and I have listened to both records repeatedly. I have found that I enjoy Don't Believe The Truth more than X&Y. I think that the songs on Don't Believe The Truth are better except for Mucky Fingers and Part of the Queue. How about you guys.

 

P.S. - I'd rather have fans of both bands that have listened to both albums answer only please ;).

X&Y...and yes I have listened to the Oasis as well.

Don't Believe the Truth is a very good effort and probably is Oasis' best since Morning Glory... but my favorite track on there is "Keep the Dream Alive"(alongside "Mucky Fingers", and "Let There Be Love"), with my favorite track on X&Y being(at this very moment) "White Shadows" -- which blows the best of Truth out of the water. Even of my least favorite from each record("Love Like a Bomb"/Lyla and "The Hardest Part", respectively), I'd much, much rather listen to Coldplay's.

I just listened to both non-stop and i find X&Y to be much more accomplished musically, lyrically and all around as a record :) i mean how can you compare ANYTHING on don't believe... with Fix You or with Swallowed in the Sea, for the record i'm a big fan of both bands

i love oasis but they are bloody miles away from x&y on dont believe......seriously it aint even close to being as good

Well I've seen both live in the last 2 weeks and have listened to both albums over and over so I think I'm fairly well placed to judge! I'd say DBTT is marginally better as it has more stand out songs - for all I love X&Y as a whole I'd only say Fix You is a brilliant single whereas DBTT has quite a few - Turn up the sun, Lyla, Importance of being idle, Guess god thinks I'm Abel, Keep the dream alive and A bell will ring. I also thought Oasis were the better live act aswell, as perfect musically as Coldplay were at Bolton.

I'm a bit lopsided cause I love Coldplay and it doesn't matter which album is against an Oasis album. I like Oasis though and I like Don't believe the truth.

i think x&y is much better.the sond are just brilliant the whole stuff is just make me happy.oasis is good too but i thinks is not as good as coldplay. :) :) :)

and i think the new oasis album is not as good as the morning glory or definitly maybe.they were better in the past :confused: :wink3:

The songs on DBTT just dont blow my mind like the ones on X&Y do. Its rougher and rockier but less stunning and overwhelming.

Ever since I heard DBtT, it never seemed to grasp me.

 

And X&Y, can't stop listening to it :D

But I still haven't got Don't Believe the Truth, I preferred to invest my money in X&Y. But when I've listened to it I'll answer your pole

 

However when the two singles where out I liked Speed of Sound more than Lyla....

i think that dont believe the truth is fantastic and goes near to capturing the form of their first albums. x&y however could be coldplay at their peak so x&y is better, but if we compare it to definitely maybe or morning glory i dont know

It depends on my mood I guess. Oasis is more rock'n'roll. Coldplay is just...coldplay :).

i'm one of the few coldplay fans who is no longer an oasis fan...coldplay just seems much nicer than oasis.

these are the results I expected I suppose, but allmusic.com and Spin Magazine both ranked Don't Believe The Truth ahead of X&Y. To each their own.

X & Y. Don't believe the truth is Oasis' best album since whats the story, but nothing oasis do can ever be better than coldplay, cos Coldplay are in another league to oasis, and just about everyone else but radiohead!

X&Y is far superior to DBTT. This is not debatable.

The 2 albums shouldn't be compared because both bands are in different genres. They are both excellent albums, and i like them equally as good :)

I like them equally. I just can't say which one is better, because I love both of them. I think DBTT is the best Oasis album since (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, and I think Coldplay's first albums were better than X&Y, but still I can't say which one is better. I can't explain. :D

DBTT kicks X&Ys ass as it has some semblance of soul. X&Y's just cold.

 

And come on lads, Fix You is no where near as good as anything on AROBTTH, no matter how much ye try to convince yerselves.

DONT BELIEVE DA TEUTH IS BETTER. IS IT NOT BETTER THAN PARACHUTEZ OR ANYTHIN, BUT IT IS A LOT O BETTER DAN X&Y, WHICH IS AVERGAE AT BEST.
