Is Don't Believe The Truth better than X&Y?

the band is none other than Oasis my friend

X & Y. I've never liked Oasis.

X&Y for sure just because i like the way the song flows and such and its just has been one of my favorites since i bought it

Don't Believe The Truth is an awesome disc. The best thing they've done in years. I'm impressed. I like every song on it, especially Turn Up The Sun and Love Like A Bomb.

X&Y is a great album and all, but there is nothing really new about it, except the sound is massive and ambient. Although X&Y, in my opinion, is easily one of Coldplay's best songs ever.

I am a huge fan of both bands, and I bought both albums. While DBTT was awesome me thinks X&Y is just better in so many ways. Coldplay's decimating the competition right now, and even Noel Gallagher once said in an interview that where Coldplay is now was where they were in '97 when Oasis on the summit of the rock world. DBTT is much better than Oasis' last 3 albums, but it's dead hard to go head on with a band sounding at the top of their game.

i love them both. and i can't imagine myself judging both of my nice albums. i'm just lovin' it. but i prefer AROBTTH and prarachutes to X&Y

I've listened both.. but I think X&Y is so much better... I like "don't believe the truth" but X&Y is a so great album

for me X&Y it's better

i like them both. ' don't believe the truth' is one of the best oasis have recorded. its really upbeat, geat to listen to. i like all the songs on it.

for me, X&Y is much better!

Oasis's time in the sun has passed X & Y is much bettere from what i have heard off of Oasis's lateist. But truthfully I was never the bigiesst Oasis fan.

i'm one of the few coldplay fans who is no longer an oasis fan...coldplay just seems much nicer than oasis.

Well most of the attitude in Oasis comes from Liam and he's alaways been kind of a blow hard.

my dad bought me don't believe the truth about two weeks ago and i still haven't listened to it!!!

I am a fan of both bands, and I have listened to both records repeatedly. I have found that I enjoy Don't Believe The Truth more than X&Y. I think that the songs on Don't Believe The Truth are better except for Mucky Fingers and Part of the Queue. How about you guys.

P.S. - I'd rather have fans of both bands that have listened to both albums answer only please ;).

the new oasis album is much inferiro to coldplay's new effort

Oh, please, posting this on a Coldplay board is going to illicit this result and these responses, but how can anyone think that X & Y, even though it is a nice album, is better than Oasis`s latest.

Don`t Believe The Truth is a diverse new record, with no two songs sound the same, with different influences and styles, from different era`s in time.

X & Y sounds pretty much the same all the way through, and while that does indeed make a nice listen, it`s just deviod of any inspiration or, apart from "Fix You", Passion. As my missus likes to call it, elevator and background music.

I know I`m going to get all sorts of replys telling me I`m stupid, but listen to both albums and tell me that X & Y is anything but one long track split up into a few tracks.

The fact that Coldplay moved the release of "Fix You" to a week with less competition shows that yes, as an album it works, as singles, the tracks really fall down.

Ive not been an oasis fan for long (only a year or two), but i have to say their latest isnt that great...I love The importance of being idle but i dont have much time for the rest of the album. Where as x&y i find to be a fantastic album...so that is my choice. :smug:

Its funny. On a British Airways flight I was on last month, one of the radio channels had both albums on back to back. They'd play the full Coldplay album, full Oasis album, back to Coldplay, then Oasis, and so on. Having listened to each time and time again in an attempt to kill time, its obvious to me that X&Y is a far superior album. Keep in mind that I'm not a completely biased fan, as prime Oasis was one of my favourite bands, but their stuff lacks the edge and interest it used to, and comes across as totally generic now (Lyla is a good recent song of their's though), while Coldplay's themes are not only intelligent (mostly) and easy on the ears, but also a lot catchier.

I hate OASIS, They suxs

This is where I canot agree with you guys, There is nothing intelligent about Coldplays music, I mean, come, how many ooohs and aaahs can an album have before the whole thing just melds together, and when the lyrics do come, they are either so bad you can`t stand it, or they just don`t make sense (with the exception of Fix You`s lryics, which have the unfortunate disadvantage of being part of a song that really should start at the halfway point from when it actually does, the start is just tuneless).

There is nothing on the new Coldplay album half as catchy as Lyla, The Importance Of Being Idle, Meaning Of Soul or Part Of The Queue.

DBTT is a soulful, catchy, beautiful rock/pop album

X & Y is elevator music, I don`t mean that as insult, the album has grown on me and I do like it for the most part, but it`s just too samey, high pitched and plodding.

I`m never going to conince you guys, I know that, but please, if you haven`t already, try the new Oasis album, it`s really rather good.

I've got to say, on DBTT, the last track is pretty awesome even though it doesn't really have lyrics till the end.

first I was disappointed of X&Y, while Oasis just kept doing their job. But I must say I didn't listen to Don't Believe The Truth that much, I think many songs don't sound very special.

keep listening - they get better with every play. truely a return to form for Oasis.

Every song on DBTT is awesome, with maybe the exception of "Mucky Fingers" which I do love, but it`s not to everyones taste.

I cant`t believe so may people are passing it by on these boards, what do you have your heads stuck into Coldplay that much that when a truly great piece of work comes along by another band that you give one listen and then get back to listening to Chris Martin singin oooohhhhh ahhhhhhhhhh and about fixing stuff.

The lryics on The Importance Of Being Idle alone beats anything on X & Y, then that`s without mentioning the lryics to:-

A Bell Will Ring

Keep The Dream Alive

Guess God Thinks I`m Able

Part Of The Queue

Mucky Fingers (some of the best lyrics Noel has ever wrote)

Turn Up The Sun.

Yes, X & Y is a good album, but DBTT blows it out of the water.

i think some of the songs on 'don't believe thetruth' are up there with the best songs oasis have ever done, importance of being idle and let thee be love especially
