I Dont Have A Name - By Bonnie

 

I was tired and stressed from a backbreaking week,

So with me mate Jim I set out to Roo creek.

We loaded the Ute with our swaggies and snacks,

Looking forward to bashing the old bush tracks.

 

We got down to the creek at a quarter past seven,

Where the glorious gums stretched right up to heaven.

We set off early for a pleasant bush walk,

Ready to enjoy some decent small talk.

 

We were well into the bush before checking the time,

And could see that the sun was now in its decline.

“Pull out your compass, so we can get back!”

I queried dear Jim, “It should be in your pack.”

 

Now my mate Jim aint the sharpest of knives,

And I wouldn’t think to trust him with our valuable lives.

Don’t ever ask him to do you a favour,

His memory of things can turn quickly to vapour.

 

He looked at me sheepish; he knew he’d been bad,

“Oh no I forgot it, I’m sorry dear lad.”

I cursed and I fumed as I said in disgust,

You flamin’ galah, you forgot the compass?!”

 

So there we were, no way to get back,

Down on our luck, we were lost on the track.

We reached a dead end; our journey had stalled,

“What to do next?” I said, shocked and appalled.

 

Suddenly out from the undergrowth,

A beast appeared and frightened us both.

The fearsome creature slathered and squealed,

We ran, then stumbled, and fell head over heels.

 

We tumbled and tumbled down an incline,

But the track was to rough for that nasty old swine.

Gingerly rising, I was startled to see,

A shimmer of opals, just waiting for me.

 

“You beauty!” I shouted, “Jim, look what I’ve found!”

“We’ve made a sweet fortune, come look around.”

We gathered them up, with grand things on our minds.

What great luck we had, what a wonderful find!

 

To cap it all off, we had stumbled quite near,

To a track, winding back, to the Ute and the beer!

It just goes to show there’s a lot to be said,

For choosing an unbeaten path instead.

 

The straight and the narrow are not always best,

The scary and unfamiliar are merely a test.

And treasures are found when we least expect it,

Just keep your eyes open and then you’ll detect it.

Thought I got tickets to the Perth concert but that didn't exactly work out. Praying that they announce a second concert in Perth soon :(

lol nice poem bonnie. i just saw coldplay on 'backstage pass' on channel 9. it was a 30minute interview with chris and johnny. it was really good actually, lots of backstage footage too. if only they'd advertised this! i was lucky i saw it at 11pm. it was soooo awesome! :D

aw yeh i saw that too callum. my bro was such a tease. he called me in i watched till the ad break, then when i came back to see the rest he was like nah i wanna watch Empire (god help me) but then he let me watch it.

 

ive already seen that interview lol

 

there was also a video hits "special" at around 2pm on wed i think featuring coldplay. i taped it and have yet to watch it...

yeah i bought the ticket in july.. but i either had to pay for it or i could just get it for xmas... so i decided on the latter.

a) i'm a nokia reliant. i'm so used to it

b) i didn't want a flip phone

c) i needed a camera

d) didn't want it to be too chunky

e) didn't want it to be miniscule.

 

so i chose a 6020 lol.

 

and yeah it was nice of my bro. he took out 450 and gave cash to everyone and goes "go buy something nice" lol

2006 is scary isnt it...

when i was watching the news the other day, it said that the race record for the sydney to hobart yacht race was broken from the 1999 record. and i thought 'hmm, that didnt stand for too long. 1999 was just the other day' but it wasnt! it was 6 whole years ago!

wow, time flies.

i knowwwwwwwwwwwwww :o when they say stuff like "in 1999, 6 years ago" (well now that 7 years ago!!!! :o :o :o ) i always have to stop and count because it feels like 2 or 3 years ago.

well what did you all get up to for new years?

 

mine was quiet, i saw my lady friend and that was all :)

oooh lady friend aye :wink3: are u sure it was "quiet"? :wink3: (oh god sorry lol :D )

 

went to a beach in rose bay where u get an alright view of the harbour, where everyone was getting smashed except for a few oldies... found some man friends lol :wink3: (one made me watch only a little of the fireworks :angry: :lol: )

 

then me and a few friends with these other guys (one of them being the one who wouldnt let me watch the fireworks - but we sorta ignored eachother i spose out of awkwardness... :( ) went trekking around town for hours ending up at one of the guys house. ended up staying for a few hours to get some sleep. that guy was there also lol...

 

yes it was quite fun... :D
