bart
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=494726&in_page_id=1779 Thaksin will give Sven £150m and says: Buy the best      Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson is to be handed more than £150million with explicit instructions from owner Thaksin Shinawatra to make his club the best in Europe.   While Eriksson's England successor, Steve McClaren, battles for his international future, the Swede is embarking on what could be the most successful period of a 27-year managerial career that has included title victories in Sweden, Portugal and Italy.   The bulk of the spending will take place next summer and the club believe that no player will be considered out of their price range.  That could even lead to spectacular bids for the likes of Barcelona's South American pair Leo Messi and Ronaldinho, or Brazilian playmaker Kaka, of AC Milan, although nailing down such big names is another matter.  The first big target of the January transfer window will be Peter Crouch, a deal that would depend on whether or not his club, Liverpool, qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.  Eriksson is a huge admirer of the 6ft 7in striker, having given him his first England cap.  He sees Crouch as the perfect replacement for Italy forward Rolando Bianchi, an £8million flop since his arrival from Reggina during the summer and certain to return to his homeland.  Bianchi, 24, has not been able to live up to the promise of his openingday performance when he scored in the 2-0 victory at West Ham and he has struggled to command a first-team place.  Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is aware that Crouch's aerial ability could be a key factor if his team make further progress in Europe. If they do not, he could well be surplus to requirements at Anfield.  Eriksson will use his wealth of experience and knowledge of the world football scene in an attempt to make the City of Manchester Stadium dressing-room the most powerful in the Premier League.  The Swede intends to provide the kind of challenge to neighbours Manchester United that City fans have scarcely been able to dream about.  The initial January flurry, with at least three highpriced players coming in, will be to ensure European qualification next season.  "There is no doubt Mr Thaksin means business," said a source close to the club.  "He wants the best for the team and its supporters and he is prepared to throw in fortunes to get it."   ---------------------------------------------------  My Comments...  I am delighted.... We could buy so many players.........  man utd can you hear us sing yet... Sir Alex can you hear us sing yet... Roy Keane Can you hear us sing yet.... All those prawn eating southen softies can you hear us sing yet.... Roman WE ARE THE NEW TEAM in town can you hear us sing yet...  WE WILL BE THE BEST TEAM ON THE PLANET.... !!  I cant even think what players we would buy with that kind of money, its like having a cheat on Football Manager at the moment...  Message to Leo Messi, Barcelona is a lovley place... and the people love you so much... but if you come to City you will be the best player that has ever been...  Christan Ronaldo.... come to the proper team in Manchester.. and bring Tervez and Rooney with you...  Kaka....... Welcome to your new home....

bart
We had a off day... a wake up call.. Also everything chelsea did turned to magic. I watched the whole game and we were not bad in the first half and if Ireland had of scored to equilaise it would have been a different story... Ā When we played Arsneal in Early setember we were used to getting outplayed however on this day we matched them man to man and on another day we would have won ! bart
True .... very true. I have managed to piss of the locals by starting a discussion about the possilbe purchase of Messi. It almost ended up in a fight not with me though, but been advised not to ask such questions ever again. As its causing a real stir. Ā This has been reported over here as footballs sept 11. there is 0.5 % of me that says its not fair on other teams... but when I do think about it I can only laugh. Ā I can not describe the looks on the faces of the people in the Bar I go to when they truly relaised the sizemic cash at citys disposal. I cant wait to hear when SAF is asked about Ronaldo going to city and his face... Ā There is no limits of what they are going to do.
Black Rose
There is no limits of what you can do, but there are limits at what the FA, Uefa, the EU and Fifa can do :PĀ Buying the best players in the world might look good in the short-term, but it's death to the national team
bart
even I am concerned now... football may have totally sold its soul to the devil. I read this report on the MEN and they are going to turn city into a similar brand as virgin... turnin TV companies, phone compaines, car firms etc into the city brand also taking the name of Manchester Away from us.. and just call us city.. as he does not want us to be confused with Manchester United.. Ā Potentially though it could produce upto 3000 new jobs in Manchester which is great...
