jay88
So any suggestions of songs to start with? (i can just about read music but it does take some time). Oh and also: where can i get the music score off the internet?
Luigio
http://www.911tabs.com has just about any song, however i'd suggest buying the actual sheet music (start out with "The best of Coldplay" book), or buying a self-teaching piano guide. If you're that serious about it, just call up a teacher. I'd say to start with Speed of Sound (Teh easy), then The Scientist, then some other easy song, then Amsterdam. Clocks sounds bad if you don't have chris' piano, or tune it the right way. P.S: Do you even have a Piano or keyboard that has 88 keys? EDIT: Please disregard my advice about Clocks. I had been playing the wrong thing.
brian_177
I dunno about getting a coldplay book so early... Have you ever played the instrument before... like... actually played it...? If you haven't... go to a teacher... or buy a "teach yourself" book.... Don't purchase any big books of sheet music unless your confident you can play them... ps... learn ALL your scales and ALL your chords... it makes playing music WAYYY easier. Mr-Brightside
I started playing piano a fex years ago with The Scientist, it's a good choise for a first song, then maybe something like Trouble, What If...
Acoustiks
haha, I first learned the Scientist too! Yeah, it's not too hard of a song to play but it's soooo fun to play it. It was really cool, I had just begun to learn the keyboard and I figured out how to play this song in about an hour. However, i did play guitar before and the logic of piano just really made sense to me.
Fixed
I've been on http://www.911tabs.com but when I select the piano tabs no links appear. Can somebody please post the links to the actual sheet music, or email them to me please? I'd be very grateful :)
Luigio
Speed of Sound is definitely easiest. It goes like this: E, D, A, A E, D, G, G E, D, G, G E, D, F#, F#

Marky
I would have thought a good place to start learning piano would be to; Firstly learn the notes on each piano key and then Learn some basic music theory, so that you know which notes make up each chord. EDIT: Also there are loads of links to the coldplay sheet music here http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17596
Remcoowtje
Or you just give me a call :D hehe no really I agree with Marky.. When I started I first had to learn all the notes and chords and it was soooo boring, I wanted to stop but I got trough it when we started to play top 40 songs.. Then you see it's working and it's fun again.. When you figure out the basics you'll enjoy playing the piano very much! I've been playing for the last 12 years, I wrote the music for 2 musicals on my school and played in several bands.. So playing the piano is actually not the bad.. Good luck mate

Good luck mate Did you mean to say LEARNING piano is not that bad? You make it sound like playing piano is a chore, and it's something you have to do, but it's "not the (sp?) bad" : ) Anyways, I will be learning how to play soon after I settle down with a teacher. I bought a 88 key used digital piano for about $470 which included a built in stand and other different types of "sounds" I don't know the technical term, but it has the organ, harpsichord, electric piano, and strings. I recommend this site http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi for help and this site http://www.musiciansfriend.com for getting a feeling for what piano you may be interested in. I think I am going to be posting on THIS Coldplay site instead, because on the offical Coldplay site, some people seem to go out of their way to be twats. That piano forum is filled with respectful and helpful people, and I recommend it. You can say I referred you too (I have same name on there as on here). Remcoowtje
I meant that learning to play the piano isn't hard when you're already a musician or something, it just takes a little practice haha.. By the way, these are my babies ;) My Roland VA-76 http://www.midigraphics.co.kr/upload/img/product/va76.jpg And my Korg Triton LE http://www.tritonhaven.com/pics/tritonle/korg_tritonle.jpg It costs a lot but it's great stuff! The Scientist Man
Good I found it. Here you go, just go down to the 3 songs by CXoldplay and pick: http://www.geocities.com/elucase/music.html
Listen2Coldplay
I have only had two piano lessons so far. I'm not that fond of my piano teacher. He is so so, but nothing great. His main motives seem to be money rather than the enjoyment of teaching piano, although he is nice and patient. I can probably find a better teacher. I'm going to give this book a try. I'm having some trouble with the basics, and reading music as I play. http://members.aol.com/chang8828/contents.htm It is not organized in the best possible way, but just be patient. It is about content, not style. I've read great things about it. I actually ordered it, even though you can read it for free. I prefer to have a hard copy of a book. bearcat1229
above all else justbe patient. i started with only being able to read sheet music and litterally wrote the notes on the keys...lol. I started with clocks but the scientist is probably a really good one. Its a good one for tempo and rythm and once you start getting better listen to how chris plays it in concert and see if you can figure out his variations ;-). And....you dont need to be able to play by sightreading...if you can memorize
