I reckon you should change the title from 'worst' to 'most disappointing'.

 

 

X&Y would be top of my list too, just because of AROBTTH really. Other albums that are in the "good, but not as good as I know they can be" vein, would be Turin Brakes' JackInABox and Oasis' latest. Was Ocean Colour Scene's latest this year too? That was just plain bad. Get Behind Me Satan was a big let-down after the quality of the previous two White Stripes albums. After the live show I'd seen, The Magic Numbers debut was disappointing too.

 

If I was forced to pick a 'worst' though, it would be The Subways Young For Eternity. Proof that marketers can make a successful 'rock' band out of one person's legs.

I agree. Objectively speaking, X&Y is far from the worst album (a lot of the people who bashed it still list it as one of the top 10 albums of the year, me included).

 

As for the worst album, have a pick from the multitudes of pop trash making the rounds out there...

Black Eyed Peas hands down. Hate them. Horrible music.

Intensive Care (Robbie Williams) is the biggest deception imo

Anything Ashlee Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, etc.....

In retropect you have a point. X&Y, in no way, stands up to Parachutes or AROBTTH. However, compared to all of the other sadly pathetic pop bullshit that was released this year, X&Y is a breath of fresh air.

^ In that same vein we can say that the system of a down was a breath of fresh air when it was really garbage as well.

I listened to X&Y nonstop for about a month after its release. Now, I cannot fucking stand it. It does not hold up well with time. I have not listened to a single song from it since July. However, I still think it is better than a lot of what was released this year as far as popular music goes ;)

X&Y was a bit disappointing, but it wasnt that bad. Robbie Williams tho, now that was terrible. I really like him and I seriously like his music but Intensive Care, that was seriously bad.
