December 19, 200520 yr http://www.coldplaying.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=1022&mode=nocomments&order=0&thold=0 Coldplay claim that their fourth album will be very different from the first three Coldplay say that they’re eager to get back into the studio but are hampered by their extensive touring schedule. Speaking to 6music band bassist Guy Berryman [pictured] said: "I know a lot of bands say this all the time, but our next record is going to be really quite different from the last three because I think it would be boring for us and everybody else if we did another record in the same vein as the last three. "It's been said before that we really view these first three albums as part of a trilogy and it's now time to move on. We feel that we don't really have to prove ourselves any more to people - and that gives you an amazing amount of creative freedom to do stuff." Berryman admitted that they’re considering using more ‘electronic stuff’, but insisted that it won’t be too introspective. He added: "There will always be songs and melodies, it won't be an abstract Tangerine Dream noodling affair!" Source: gigwise.com
December 19, 200520 yr ^yeah...more rockier, more electric. i suppose that's what they should do...always being careful of not over doing it....only time will tell :/
December 19, 200520 yr I think they're heading in the direction of more heavy songs like "Low" and "Square One" but that they'll still have slower ballad type songs, but with a more electronic influence and sound, kind of like Chris' work with Faultline (songs like "Where is My Boy" and "Your Love Means Everything").
December 19, 200520 yr It's good they are aware they have to move on ! :) Go wherever you want, just move on ! :) Well, if I can make a wish, move far away from any U2 similarities   :P
December 19, 200520 yr ^I agree, that's the best news! I hope they dont go too much away from their present sound, but new things are always exciting and good to hear! Sounds like they might have some new ideas in the bag then! :)
December 19, 200520 yr First it was said they would do a rockier one. Now they say they'll do an electronic one  I don't care as long as it's good. And I don't think Coldplay can cunt it up

December 19, 200520 yr it won't be an abstract Tangerine Dream noodling affair!"   i can SO hear his voice when i read that!
December 19, 200520 yr i really would love coldplay doing stuff very innovative...not very predictable. saiyng they are doing electronic is kind of obvious after x&y...when they said they were doing a dark album...that sounded completly unexpected... but, if the could comehow mix those together that would be grand! :wink3:
December 19, 200520 yr I hope they travel in the direction of a more rock/electronic cound... I suppose Square One, Low and Twisted Logic are prime examples of the style I would hope to hear from their 4th album.
December 19, 200520 yr hmm sounds good, but please coldplay dont go in u2 direction, just go ur own way, dont devote ur time to some other band...echo ur own devices :D
December 19, 200520 yr All I'm saying is: Please, Coldplay, don't turn into the Backstreet Boys.
December 19, 200520 yr I would laugh my ass off if I heard Coldplay happy hardcore. Chipmunk Chris' voice... I just hope it turns out all good. I liked Where Is My Boy (haven't heard Your Love Mean Everything).
December 19, 200520 yr ^Yeah, the effects in WIMB (wimb... lmao) are pretty spiffy. OMG. Chipmunks... lmao.
December 20, 200520 yr what Coldplay need is an album like Ok Computer. Not in sound or production.. but I mean an album as revolutionary as that of OK Computer.
December 20, 200520 yr Kid A, Kid A... *crosses fingers* I love Kid A, and I would love to see what Coldplay could do in that capacity. As long as there aren't any stupid love songs. I can't stand how much of that sappiness is in X&Y. :/

I can't stand how much of that sappiness is in X&Y. :/ What do you mean, sappiness? I just didn't like X&Y 'cause most of the songs... they really had no melody nor diversity. What If, X&Y and Twisted Logic all sounded the same to me. Same sort of melody and beat.
December 20, 200520 yr :smug: :D A fourth album!...Awesomeness. Honestly, I really don't know if i should love or be afraid of the idea of an "electronic" album. What really matters is that theyre still going to make beautiful music together. And I can't wait for that feeling...you know that feeling you get? The adrenaline rush right before a new album comes out (and then either loving/pretending to love the new album anyways b/c theyre CP and it doesnt matter.) can't wait
December 20, 200520 yr If you think about it, Coldplay pretty much has consistently delivered albums full of good songs (including X&Y, people ;), so whatever direction they choose to take I'm sure it will be just as good, if not better, as everything else they've done. Personally, I would love it if they did something along the lines of OK Computer or Kid A. :smug:

"My song is love / love to the loveless shore" "You really broke my heart" "When you love someone but it goes to waste" "You belong with me..." What If is ok, but then Fix You, X&Y, A Message, The Hardest Part, Swallowed in the Sea and Til Kingdom Come follow and all are love songs. Honestly, I think it's a little overdone at times. I want Coldplay to do something new and creative, like Radiohead did in their time.
