TLo
dudes.. that leaflet was for the INDIA release of X&Y only.. http://itch.in/journal/bad-bad-coldplay if its only for india why is the leaflet in english? why would they only do it for one country? someone could just as easily buy a different countries copy off of amazon. people on the coldplay.com forum have stated that they just bought the cd and cant put it onto their computer...and these people do not live in india. ok i was just SIMPLY POINTING OUT that that link is where the source came from.. and it clearly says.. its from india.. I dont know why its in english.. maybe because english is a universal language and the CD itself is sung in english..???
alphaskye
You can't have all those safeguards though if you download the album off of iTunes.
eatmorechocolate
lol, how can the CD tell the difference if it's being played in a regular stereo or a car stereo?
an_cat
lmfao then why can you buy it off itunes then burn a cd off itunes... Because I've burned 4 copies of X&Y so far...... Duuuumb, if you ask me.
victaniac
  Is this referring to X&Y? Because X&Y (and every other Coldplay album) works fine in my car and I can rip it into mp3 to my heart's content. I have heard of the singles being protected, but there's always ways to get around it. Where are they getting this info from?

knoxoverstreet
hehe, do they really believe, that it can't be cracked?? :)Â i bet it will be in the emule, after few days, or even few days before release :)Â anyway, i'll, of course, buy the original CD, but I want to have it on my computer, and mp3 player. fudge
is it not the case that if you buy the CD it's yours to do with as you please? This whole downloading music thing pisses me off. I download stuff, I admit it. But I also buy a lot of CDs and DVDs. To me it balances itself out. If I like a new band, I'll download the album and if I like it, I'll buy it. If it's a band I know and like then I'll just buy the CD. Any record company that tries to stop this is going to end up out of business. The music industry really needs to find a way they can use digital music that will keep audiences happy. I think they're starting to now, but they've got a long way to go! JAYSUS!

pjoalfa
While this one is for India only, they have tried this before, notably in the UK (with other bands). For my part, I wont buy a CD if it has this restriction. If they want to charge us 13-18 bucks for a CD and then tell us where and when we can or cannot play it then screw 'em I'll download it free. Someone will always crack the "protection". The only thing the stupid labels accomplish with this is promoting piracy not preventing it. It is far easier to fire up a bittorrent client and get whatever you want than to go to the store and pay for it as it is. Being honest about it and supporting bands you like is a choice you make. If the record companies want to give the shaft to people who are honest, well, frankly I have little sympathy for them. --- dont even get me started on concert ticket prices in the USA, notice they dont even try that crap in Europe... they'd be lynched. fudge
Well sais ;) concerts aren't cheap in the UK either! I've just forked out £45 a ticket for Robbie Williams next year. And thats the NORMAL ticket price! I paid £32 the last time I saw him.
__therese
^^ but how about the rolling stones tickets, they are already fucking rich! i wanted to get that for my dad but no fucking way i would pay that for any band!

pjoalfa
£45 for a ticket - I WISH! Stones good seats face value $389 U2 reserved $162.50 Paul McCartney/Madonna $250 Coldplay (still) under $100 if you dont go for that ticketmaster auction, else same. (*&%£ joke if you ask me. Fixed
Rar I bought X&Y from bangcd.com. I tried ripping it to my PC to put on my MP3 player and it's copy controlled also! Well, it was from Singapore, but I had no idea about their laws bla bla bla when I bought it :( I'm consequently looking for an ENGLISH version that hopefully WILL enable me to rip to my player. Grrrr
Reveirg
This is so, so ridiculous. They do know that by preventing people from pirating CDs in this manner, it'll just make them sell less CDs??? I'll take my case, for example. I do download some albums for free on the internet, but when a CD from one of my favourite artist comes out, or when I really like an album, I just buy the CD. However, now knowing that I can very easily get the music to my iPod, and that by buying the CD, I will not able to do so, I'll just download the music directly on the internet. Silly, silly music companies... putainfromage
i just got a copy protected cd (one of those sony ones) and when i put it in my computer, it installed something that warps the songs when i rip them, so i googled how to get rid of that and i got it off the computer, then i ripped the cd fine. this is only making the companies look retarded. they should just accept that music and industry aren't one and the same. greedy sons of bitches. CLOUDNINE
yeah this is ridiculous, i try to rip the cd to my pc the other day and it wouldnt work. I try to support the band by buying their cds, singles and spending ludicrous amounts of money on concert tickets and such, but if the companies keep using this s**t then ill just start downloading it and save myself some time and money...jeesh :(
