How much do your friends influence you?

Featured Replies

They probably have a bit but I havent noticed. We all have the same sense of humour and all but we behave a lot differently. Some of my friends are real rebellious and some of them are goody-goodies. I'm a bit of both I think but I lean more towards the goody-goody side. I try to influence their music/movie tastes but it doesnt work much. I have gotten a few friends into Coldplay a bit but thats about it. They usually just try to follow the crowd but I dont do that.

Hmm I think they influence me very little.

I have absolutely my own favourite bands and actually my own opinions almost in everything.

Sometimes when we are together, we might think the same thing at the same time, and I usually have friends who have the same sense of humor. Inside-jokes are great sometimes.

But except those, I want to have my own lifestyle, and hopefully I´m not influencing in their lives much either, ´cause I don´t like the idea of they copying me and my thoughts.

For example, I don´t want to get anyone of my close friends obsessed with Coldplay. I just have the feeling that it´s my favourite band, which I love more than any other band ever, and they should let me love Coldplay alone. :D

Selfish, I know.

an idea...

my best friend influences me a lot sometimes...when I buy new clothes the first thing I think of, is: "What will Nicky think of this?"

This is a good thread!!

I like to think that nobody influences who I am, but I've discovered I've started picking up habits of my friends and even people who are not my friends but I must subconciously admire or something. I'm not sure if I like that.

I would say my friend have somewhat of an infuence on me, but It doesnt make me change who I am. For example i have some friends who do drugs*more than just pot , drinking and smoking cigs* and for me personally I dont do that kind of stuff. But my friends do have a more positive influence on me, even if we are different in certian aspects we are always there one another:)

Nope unless is something related to college homework or stuff like that.... but some want me to change some stuff about my lifestyle (like having friends in online messageboards for example) but they've failed big time so they don't even bring the topic back again, same here with music, they try to change my taste but they've failed too :P

If I ever need advice I listen to the one I think is the most rational and I just listen and if I think that's right I might do what he told me.

our sociology lecturer said that we all influence each other both for good or bad.

so although i like to be independant (and i've been told i am so independant i mean i've never went just with a group at high school and all that), i say yes my friends influence me, when they give me some opinions or advice and i do influence them the same, that is not like i do anything they tell me to do, but at least i consider their advices.

well, sometimes I think I shouldn't think too much about what my best-friend will say about how I act or what I buy, etc....I do it far too much...

One of my friends has a lot (way too much) power over me, and I'm afraid of making her doubt me- so before I do anything I think about what she'd think. It's a terrible way to live. :disappointed:

I think they influence me... because I care what they think, because maybe I'm wrong sometimes. But as much as i care what they think, they cant change me... I'm not a puppet :)

Your truly friend wont try to change who you are... they are just turning you into a follower...

Not really, I'm usually the black sheep of all my friends, and I don't see myself changing because of them any time soon.

a lot. and that is one reason i avoid a lot of people, if i don't want to be like them. i also try really hard with a lot of people, if i think they are nice.

I got rid of alot of my friends, because they turned into too horrible of people, you can only put up with that for so long, and its slightly contagious.

I try to surround myself with nice people.

yeah, you never really know.

very good idea. i think this is the best you can do.

so, that means that you actually don't have freinds, but nice people. Sounds sad, but not a bad idea actually...

i hate mean people who pretend to be nice, too. that is something to watch for
