so..there was a re-rum on croatian national tv of the grammy's last night, and i fell asleep, nevermind...the important thing was that i already saw coldplay,anyway..the minute i got into my classroom my friends jumped on me:" what the fuck was that, they were awful, i doesn't even sound close to the cd, chris was the worst etc. "..the thing i want to say is that ppl who like coldplay (and my friends do like them) but not in this way, like us, who go to this forum, watch all performances and all the stuff usual listeners do do (you know what i mean) just don't know..they don't know how this performance was rocking all around the place comparing to like NRJ awards or even MTV which they didn't see, nor they know how long they have been touring and how difficult this song is to sing in the first place...hope you know what i meant to say.. ;)

I know what you mean hun. ;) Because they haven't seen everything we have, or know the stuff we know, they just dont understand.

And I agree, it is actually a very hard song to sing live, with most of it being falsetto, plus Chris's voice being under strain from touring.

Im really proud of them. :)

I've just read some comments on their official board, and the ppl there are debating if chris was or wasn't high (stoned)...

Isn't that annoying? My friends did the exact same thing! It's like they can't wait to tell you how much they thought they sucked. Even people who're just in my class who I don't know that well (acquaintances), would come up to me with their crap. I'm quite proud that I didn't end up socking someone in the eye yesterday...

^^ Im proud of you victaniac!!!

I was actually really shocked today, I spoke to my mate and she said she thought their performance was "not the best of the night, but pretty good" :stunned: , which is a HUGE compliment coming from this particular girl. I was dead chuffed, I nearly jumped on her with joy! (that sounds wrong  )

Its probably the 1st positive thing i've heard anyone say about it!! (apart from on here of course :) )

I almost cried with joy when people complimented the performance too! But it was only my brother, my parents, bf and a couple of bestfriends said they did good. But they know I'd hurt people if CP is insulted (and I call myself a pacifist..:disappointed: ) so I have a feeling it probably doesn't count...

Its so funny, coz at first when she said it I thought she was taking the piss

I was like "Seriously!?! YEEEEAH BABY!!!!" and then rambled on for ages about why it was so amazing and how mean everyone has been about it.

I bet she wished she never complimented it.

:stunned:

This thread grew......erm......this is abit embarassing now....but what did Coldplay perform? And was there any surprise?About the performance etc.....

well, there are total opposite opinions on this one, fans say it was great and the rest of this fuckin' world says it was the worst performance of the year.

surprises? not really, u2 won every single grammy, as for the fairness of that choice i shall not comment.

well us fans are a little bit more critical of the band considering that we have seen them live in concert and know what they can do performance wise. But most of the general public didn't say that the performace was the worst one. Mainly the performance just got ovverlooked which isn't a bad thing at. Alot of people in the media didn't enoy the mary J Blige and U2 performance, they said she oversang it. But Coldplay, at least in the eyes of the press, didn't do bad. They just didn't do a memorable one you know?

^ Yeah it seems the CP performance was just not memorable because it was just them performing Talk. But after hearing the backstage interviews, they wanted it that way, just the four of them. So I'm satisfied. (And I've heard of that U2/Mary J thing too AmandaCA85, saying she oversang it. People are never friggin happy, I thought it was great!)
