Oy, I knew it was Gary's birthday too and I just didn't get around to leaving a bday message! I'm horrible. *goes to comment him now, not that it really matters too much* aw but we love him :nice: Happy bday to the nicest guy around!! :D

YAY!

I just ordered the DPT DVD off HMV!!!  whooooo!

(I got a Razorlight DVD too, so cool, I wish I lived out there though... I'll probably get it in like 2 weeks :( )

Aaaaaaaaaand a couple pictures I randomly found on FLICKR that I don't think I've seen before.

Ok, and now I'm going to ramble.

Why is that the Libertines forum has turned essentially into a Peter love/hate place? I mean yes, there are the odd yeti/dpt and even shambles threads. But everything seems focused around him and everything he does. I don't really mind it, it's good to have a place to keep up with news on him and I don't usually go into the Shambles forums for reasons that I truly don't even have... But I mean fuck, I think Gary, John and especially Carl deserve SOMETHING. Maybe not 400 pages of "omg" or whatever, but jesus. It's lame.

And why is it DPT fans are so against Peter? Can't they just accept that the Libertines were probably the greatest thing Carl has ever done (yes yes the work with DPT is fucking brilliant, but I can never truly compare it to THAT)??? Can't they just realize Peter is his past, and move on? Obviously Carl saw things in him, and still does, so we should respect that if we respect him. But everybody always seems so grrrr about him around the DPT forum. It's like two opposite areas to visit. I really hang around the DPT one a lot more, though... People annoy me at each, argh. This is the only nice place regarding them out there :D haha

Whatever. I just really want some new Stan pictures and no one seems to be posting any :( :( :( poooop. lmfao.

yeah i'm over tired and spamming now so I'm going. ahah *talks to self*

Those are fucking good questions!

I think most of the people, on both boards, are just bitter.

The Libs-board people are bitter that the Libs split up and most of them have always regarded Peter as the genious and Carl was more like... I dunno. Talented but nowhere near how they see Peter. He's been put up on a pedistal and they refuse to see that, guess what, The Libertines was a band consisting of four bloody fucking amazing people.

And the DPT-board people are bitter cause they have Carl up on a pedistal, like it was only Peter's fault that the Libs split up and everyone should realise that Carl's an angel and wounded and bullshit.

They're all just bitter and fucking annoying...

YAY for the DVD's

I can't give you much new Stan-pics but I can give you a Stanspam!

Oh, and I was watching those old Libertines in Brasil videos last night and 'Don't look back into the sun' fucking hell, what a bassline :dead: And John looks so fucking cool and the fact that Stan has tried to make his jeans whole with tape and stuuf is totally John's fault which leads me to posting an icon I found on LJ the other day:

lmfao. that made absolutley no sense but I got to post the icon :laugh3:

STAN.

Ok. So I have a devestating crush on him. There is seriously something about Stan that makes me feel like... I dunno, some 12 year old girl with a first crush. LMFAO that sounds so weird but I dunno, I get all strange. And even at the gig in August, I couldn't even look at him cuz I was all "omg blush" which was difficult since I was fucking standing in front of him for an hour lmfao.

Thank you thank you thank you for the spam. omg. Hadn't seen a few of those, and oy the second one :nice:

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww didz lmfao I love him all hunched with the guitar. so cool.

and..... holy shit. I love that story....... :dead: I love how subdued it is when it comes to... that. It's not like freakin' porno or anything, it actually fits the plot and I love how she doesn't get all in depth about it? yeap.

Argh, and yeah, I totally get what you're saying about the dynamics of Libs fans. I mean, just a poll-like question, but who do YOU guys think was responsible for the end of the Libs? Anyone in particular?

I personally feel it was just destined from the start, honestly. Way too perfect. I've read 'Bound Together' and honestly it was a combination of Carl's actions in response to Peter's actions. It was just unfortunate, but I don't know what I'd do if I were in each of there positions. If I were Peter, I know I'd be incredibly upset. But at the same time, people have committments! I think Peters just so much of a... I don't know, he just feels so not tied down by society's restraints that he feels almost above committments (which is really devestatingly clear to us in here....). Carl functions more in the real world, I'd say, and just kept on with it.

I give him huge credits for that. I really love Carl, I just think he's the nicest guy there is to us fans. Especially here in the US, I really owe him my soul. I cried when I found out that he broke his collarbone, not only because it's fucking painful as hell and I felt really REALLY really bad for him. But I thought that just was IT for us US fans. But when I found out about Josh, I was so happy. Anybody else would have canceled. But "unless he was shot", Carl's here for us. I think this is what happened in the Libs, but instead of breaking his collarbone, he lost Peter to Taiwan or wherever it was he went. So he did his best to keep his life together, and keep the fans together.

I get so upset when people blame Carl for the end of the Libs, and I'll be honest, yes I suppose in a way I do blame Peter more. But it's not a bitter blame, it's just an acceptance because taht's the way he is and as fans we choose to love him for it. People don't realize what they have in Carl, someone who, although he may not post on forums or he may not come and play in your bedroom... he's here for us. And he honestly cares. Or people may just say it's for money that he shows. I choose to not believe that, because I KNOW it's not. I heard him talking, it's not about that. He's not that kind of a person. He's genuinely kind to us, if it were all for money would he be taking pictures or signing things whenever he could?

People are so freakin' annoying. I think, in general, I do tend to lean towards "DPTs side" more in arguments about that. Because I think keeping up with commitments and going off to live in a crack den is the lesser of two evils, personally. But at the same time, Peter exists. Peter existed. He's helped make Carl who he is. And totally vice versa. People should accept that and move on.

WOW. done.

In MY mind I think I blame everyone and noone.

I blame Peter for the heavy using of drugs, missing gigs and just becoming more and more fragile by the minute. For juding and pulling everyone else down. For being to open about everything that went on. For not realising that people love him (not just the boys in the band). For being a such a stubborn childish boy that didn't really care about anything but himself and his guitar.

I blame Carl for being weak, for giving up on everything and for introducing Peter to the drugs in the first place. For his desire of being broken all the flippin time.

I blame John for not being the fucking smart man he is today. For not putting his foot down and saying: no, no more drugs and no more fights and no fucking lies. We're in a band, fucking grow up. I pretty much blame Gary for the same thing. He's old(er) and should have known better. I think in some fucked up way if either John or Gary would've said something that it might have ended differently cause I've got the impression that Peter had more respect for them. Carl was the one he had fights with...

But at the same time as I feel those things I can't... I just can't.

I think when Peter met Carl he really embraced the thought of being a libertine and living life for himself outside the rules of the wordl. I truly belive Carl did everything he could and almost killed himself in the process, the boy feels so much more then most people... and John and Gary...in some way I think they were distaned from everything and didn't really realise what the fuck happened.

I've been through hard breakups and fights and falling apart with people that I've truly loved with all my being and I know that it's never one persons fault. It's a process that happens during a long time and not just one event or one thing that's to blame... So yeah, everyone and noone is to blame in my eyes.

Totally agree with that. It was going to happen at some point, no matter what. Just an unfortunate series of events.

I dunno though, from what I gather Peter was quite rude to Gary and even more so John... Not sure why, I'll have to look for the quote I read awhile back, but he would say things like they're not truly a part of the band, basically insinuating that they're replacable. It was him and Carl, all Carl, all the time. It's really fucking tough cuz ok yeah Carl and Peter were to an extent "The Libertines" with their song writing. But Gary and John were equally important in keeping it together. I just wish they tried a little harder. But perhaps they were each bitter about that, or maybe out of the loop, or something. No one knows, I guess, except people who were there at the time. I suppose it's just no one's place, particularly us fans, to make judgements since we WEREN'T there. That's why I get so annoyed when people get really mean about Carl v. Peter. It's just pointless. It happened, so move on people! sigh.

It wouldn't surprise me at all that Peter would say that... It's more of a feeling I've had.

And like you said, noone knows and we can all go on blaiming people or shut up and enjoy that they managed to make two of the most amazing records in Britain during the 21th century (or ever).

I mean, would there be bands like Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight, Kaiser Cheifs, The Kooks, Lariikin Love etc without The Libs? I actually doubt that the British musicscene would be as big as it is without them..

And off course people are intitled to feel bitter about the whole thing cause The Libertines were a 'the peoples band'... So open about everything and so full of dreams. But the dreams are still alive in the music. Carl, Gary, John and aren't making music together anymore and that's a shame but fucking move on, shut up and enjoy the new stuff. They have!

For anyone interested, this is on BBC2 this evening.

Arena: Pete Doherty (18*)

Ashtar Alkhirsan, 75min, UK 2006

Wednesday 25 October, 15.00

FREEDM Studio, Roundhouse, Camden, London

Peter Doherty is one of the most talked about musicians of our time, but he has received more attention for his controversial private life, than he has for his music.

Over several months Arena has had extensive access to Peter, filming him on tour and at his home in London. The film offers an insight into this complex, intriguing man who is rarely out of the media spotlight.

From 'My Way' (1979) to 'No Direction Home - Bob Dylan' (2005), Arena's first principle is adventurous film-making of the highest quality. Director Ashtar Alkhirsan has made a series of one-off documentaries for the BBC, including most recently The Unknown Hancock, a film about Tony Hancock the comedian.

The Electric Proms screening was the world premiere of the film.

Arrrgh... I want BBC2! But I guess it will be up pretty soon after it's aired.

I just want the BBC. Period :laugh4:

I have to agree with everything said on this last page (yep, including the BBC comments :smug:). Really, it's like that with every band, and I hate hate hate when fans take that upset position and start making assumptions as to why they broke up etc. We weren't there, we don't know them as much as they know each other, so we have no knowlegde whatsoever to start speculating as to whose fault was it, or who is the bad one. I guess it's just as every other relationship, it takes more than one to stay together, and it takes more than one to start a fight. Maybe it was one of them not wanting it enough, maybe it was none of them trying hard enough, or most likely it was everyone of them wanting it too fucking much to stay together, and be willing to give some things up for other people's sake. I guess we're all somewhat selfish at the end of the day.

On a totally different note, I absolutely loved the Stan photos. Woooo he's one special boy, he is :nice:

Helloooo! :D

OMFG. Tea, those FlickR pics.......woah. :dead: thankies!

A-fuckin'-men.

LMFAO DPT is stalking you, Steph! OR are you stalking them?? Oh snap, you're both stalking each other! That's always the best... :sneaky:
