I read the girl who wrote the story wants to write to EMI headquarters and she probably already emailed Debs

yah id be xtra pissed if i was her w/ that kind of treatment

wow...really it may sound dumb but i wouldnt expect that from that kind of competition....that sounds liek really horrible treatment..so basically u didnt get to meet them at all? wow

The part I keep thinking about was them having to walk around at midnight, being visitors and all.

Man.

oh, and I think the Parlophone deal is 5 albums... not 6.

the Big question is will they be able to tolerate all this as a band to their 5th or 6th album or they'll... ?

Yeah, that part is the worst. That's disgusting. And pretty dangerous too...can you imagine if something bad happened to them?

as i recall Debs said to me that she'll go to NY gig of theirs, so maybe she'll tell them what shitty thing happen regarding contest..or maybe not...:dozey:

I dont think she should...it's not their fault and they shouldn't have to feel bad about it.

  • Author

you don't think she should say what happen to them?

Hmm not really...she should speak to the record company about it, it's them who need to sort their act out....it's not the boys fault. They would only end up feeling bad...

But they'll probably hear about it anyway I guess...:\

that is what im most sympathetic about... id be friggin angry!

i think they should know what shitty company they picked. but on the other hand..you're right...

But the aim of telling them what happened is to say it's their fault..as Zorana has just said it's just to let them know what kind of label they have and what kind of people work in it thus representing them too

Freaking record companies can be such rude people, even to the artists. I mean, who thinks Coldplay is gonna stay with EMI once their contract is over? Possibly, but they've already let out their feelings toward those impatient money makers. I feel as if they're kinda stuck with EMI whether they like it or not for now, and when they get the chance, they'll give em the slip.

whoa

oh man, that sucks!

man... and i got freaking pissed when the concert security told me to put away my camera.... i'd be going crazy if that happened to me, lol.

i think they should know what shitty company they picked.

Coldplay did not pick a bad company.. all this EMI bashing is kind of.. well, sad. They have done so much for Coldplay and really, we should be grateful. I know the boys might not want all the publicity the label puts out, but it's what keeps them going and earns more fans and it's how the albums get sold. Actual "bad" companies are the ones who don't spend money and promote anything you do, therefore you're forgotten just about as soon as you step into the picture.

Shouldn't the EMI/Capitol PR team in Canada be the one who's at fault? Very irresponsible of them to leave the fans out at night alone, and tell them they'll meet the boys when that wasn't the truth. I don't really agree with blaming the entire label.. I'm pretty sure they aren't all heartless asswipes like the ones those fans were treated to.

offcorse they'd promote them so they can bring money to the company Victaniac...that's a vicious circle and we shouldn't be naive.

Of course it is...everything (relatively speaking) one does is for money. I work for money. So does Coldplay and so does the label. No harm in that, really.

The label promotes Coldplay and both the boys and EMI get a profit, because people buy albums because of those promotions. It's like a team, one can't work without the other. I actualy think EMI is a good label.. despite their few bad seeds. Bands like Oasis come to mind where they get no promotion and debut badly in the charts (in the US, don't know about UK) or Fiona Apple, who had her album shelved because it wasn't "commercial" enough. Coldplay has all their freedom in EMI and they get promoted well. I hope they stay there once the 5/6 years are up.

well it depends how you what you valuate as coldplay's success or level....

i personally think they're on their way down, but that's just me. i've got to emotionally attached to them.

Aw.. but why do you think that? I mean they have grown a lot since they first came out... but I like it. They were all so shy (well, except Chris ) and quiet and it kinda showed in their stage presence.

Coldplay can't go down if they wanted, it's like.. gravitationally (aha! Hope that's a word!) impossible. So cheer it up, eh?

no..it's so depressing (though i'm quite sad these days cus of the many things) cus like they were humans before now they're aliens, the ones from Mars..you get it? i want them in it and there aren't any, and i see these things kinda effect them.

I think she would tell them.. she speaks to them about the fans a times.. ans perhaps something this bad, just might be something she'll let them know about. I do know, first hand.. that she mentions fans whether they'd be from the boards or not.. she does.

I can't believe she didn't tell me she was coming to NY.. :(

That's pretty bad treatment... but you can't blame the whole company for what was probably in one group of peoples' hands.

does anyone know if this was reported to the label or to band management??? Have they tried emailing Debs??

they posted on the official board, and someone there told them to PM Debs.

but, the true test will be to see if any of the fan footage is used in the dvd..... I think I'd me more pissed if I went thru all that.. and they didn' even use my footage.

there are no guarantees that they will use the footage. its in the terms and conditions that you were supposed to read before you entered the comp. gonna go see if I can find the T&C link.
