Ugg. Gwyn's "I'm so uberly-cool"-style defense of her newsletter makes me want to facepalm.

"I think the people who are criticizing it or criticizing the idea of it, don't really get it, because if they did, they would like it," Paltrow, 36, told PEOPLE Wednesday night at a New York City benefit she hosted for Bent On Learning, a non-profit organization which arranges yoga and meditation classes in the city's public schools.

...whaaaaaaat. I doubt tabloid writers actually have time to wait at least two weeks to get at least two issues and write about it, their bosses want MOAR WORK from their little worker NAO. Plus, I find this defense a bit... 12ish. "Oh, those mean tabloid people being mean to me and my precious don't really mean it. I mean, they probably haven't even read like two issues, so how would they know! Otherwise they'd looooove it!" Dude. Not cool. Gonna get you into moar critz.

Paltrow said she believes some of the barbs simply stem from the fact that she's doing something new and different. "I think that people like people to stay in their 'box' – they like people to stay how they are comfortable seeing them."

A lot of other celebs have, in fact, released a newsletter before. They just were doin' it wrong.

In addition, she said, "My friends call me all the time to say, 'Where should I go?' or 'What should I do?' And I thought, you know maybe some other people would be interested in it as well, so I started it, and it's doing great.

Dude. Other people, your audience namely, do not have the money to be spending on all of that.

Now, people may think I too am one of the naysayers, I'm not - I liked her recipe newsletter for one, simple yet involves all the readers - something they can actually do. This newsletter thing could work for her if she's doin' it right. Cut the Kabballah spiritual crap, stop promoting all these places that the average person couldn't even DREAM of affording and lower the price range of said purchasables and moar recipes. Then, it would be a fair bit better! The books issue was great because people could actually go out and buy these books and read them, the food one great because people could actually try out these recipes. But at the moment, it reeks of personal "These Are My Hobbies!" list, which nobody except fans really care for.

Basically if you can't be assed to read my post, in my eyes:

And before you go "it's just a hobby! She never wanted it to be successful!" - clearly that's why she has her own website for it and is releasing a cookbook, likely to have perhaps some recipes from the newsletter.

I think reading Gwyneth's newsletter, which I do, is like reading a Vogue or Elle magazine. I certainly cannot afford 95% of the things in those magazines, nor do I want to. It's a little bit of fantasy, look at the clothes, look at the jewelry, etc. Same with GOOP, I think; I do like the recipes (her meatball recipe is almost identical to mine) and the books newsletter was nice, and those are things "average" people can enjoy. We can even check out the New York or Paris restaurants and hotels and dream a little, maybe save up to go there, maybe not. It's all in the way you look at it. If you're reading her newsletter and saying, "Damn her, I can't go there!" then you might be taking it the wrong way. Just enjoy the ride.

She just can't promote cheaper places/clothes etc. because she writes about her lifestyle, so it's not a commercial page(mostly), and if she promoted a place or whatever she's never been to it would be not really genuine. And I think she doesn't visit very often places which most of the people can afford...

"Gwyneth Paltrow backed out of her Oscar appearance at the last minute because her son, Moses, had an “incredibly high fever.” “Obviously, he comes way before anything like that,” Gwyn told USA Today"

Gwyneth Paltrow Dishes On Her Little ‘Posers’

gwyneth_paltrow150.jpg Richard Young/Startraks Gwyneth Paltrow has often sung the praises of yoga, and now she’s putting her money where her mouth is; Earlier this week, the 36-year-old actress hosted a benefit for Bent on Learning, a non-profit organization that brings yoga and meditation to New York City’s public school students. Her own two children — Apple Blythe Alison, 4 ½, and Moses, 2 ½ – have a healthy curiosity but “don’t do a yoga practice” themselves, Gwyneth tells Extra!

“They just fool around and they see us doing poses and so they imitate us. It’s very cute.”

Yoga isn’t the only thing Apple and Moses are picking up from their mom, however, for they also share her love of rapper Jay-Z! Asked about a rumor concerning what the children call her and husband Chris Martin’s close pal, the actress laughs, “Yes, it’s true; My kids call Jay-Z ‘Uncle Jay.’ I call him Uncle Jay too now!”

Jay-Z and Chris recently collaborated on “Lost+,” a song for Coldplay’s Prospekt’s March EP, performing the tune at the Grammys earlier this month.

Gwyneth pulls out of screening

Gwyneth Paltrow has been forced to pull out of a special screening of her film Two Lovers due to illness, organisers said.

The actress was due to attend the screening in west London on Wednesday night (March 4), but has been advised not to travel to the UK as she is unwell.

Gwyneth plays the volatile neighbour of a troubled young man played by Joaquin Phoenix, who moves into his parents' Brooklyn apartment following a suicide attempt.

Organisers said that there would be a preview screening, but the press line-up was cancelled.
