woah' date=' that sounds fabulous! i'm going to south africa in 2010..for the world cup! :P i've made up my mind and i am determined to go one way or another, my history teacher actually honeymooned in africa and took a safari and said it was the most amazing trip he'd ever taken. i've always wanted to go to africa, so if i can make it before the next WC that'd be greaaaaaaat :D[/quote']

Oh yeah, World Cup in South Africa... I hope it will be a good choice! This country and the continent deserve it!

The only thing I'm afraid of is the criminality in South Africa. My friend told me some stories and it was horrible! Don't walk down the "Long Street" in Capetown lol. ;)

Oh some pics of little Steph! :nice: That would be so nice! :)

Yeah, I gotta say that I didn't really enjoy the few days I felt in Cape Town. I didn't feel safe at all. :\

Hey Steph!!

Sorry I disappeared everyone else....lol...I decided to have a nosebleed...then my mum nicked the computer

Did you have some problems in Capetown Steph or why didn't you feel safe?

Re Kara! Oh, do you often have nosebleed? I guess I didn't get it since the last 3 years.

Well...whilst staying in Gaansbai (down south) everyone was so kind to me, and helpful, and I had no problems with anyone. They treated me like a little sister. :nice:

But in Cape Town I found (especially being a girl) that the majority of men (that I encountered, anyway) are very intimidating. :\ I had a couple of run-ins with some very creepy guys (namely two men who thought I was a school girl :uhoh:) and it was pretty unpleasant. Thank god I was only there 3days and only ventured out during the daytime. Even the women weren't too friendly...no one seemed to ever want to help you if you were lost or anything, unlike somewhere like London.

It's not a very nice city to be alone in.

Lars - I'm sure I have pics somewhere...i'll have to scan them in some time! Although they may be embarressing, I ws 12 when we went!

Mark - it's SO high up there!!! We sat in the corner of the resteraunt, and when you look down out of the window it's a sheer drop...pretty scary. Also the elevator is clear, and goes up the side of the building :uhoh:

Not good if you have vertigo!

U2??

^haha, nice pun.

ugh that didn't sound like a pleasant experience at all steph. what the hell is with men and their damn machoism and intimidation factors? specially if you're a foreigner, it gets even worse.

Oh, thank you for describing me your experiences of Cape Town... So, it's better to go there with some more people. :)

Well, I'm off now! Tomorrow will be a stressy day...

Bye everyone! :)

Yeah it was pretty scary. I kept phoning my dad in tears, he was so worried about me. I was really tempted to just get on a flight and come home, thank god I didn't!

Lars - yeah, i'd definatley reccomend going with a few people. Would be much better I rekon. Bye!

night larry! hope you still have a good tomorrow even though it'll be stressful:P

^aw steph, that's terrible! :( and incredibly scary!

I woulda been totally scared Steph...still...it made you stronger I guess!! :smug:

Unsurprising, considering it has been nicknamed "Rape" Town. Not a pleasant place to visit, by the sound of things..........................;)

Oh yeah definatley, I learnt so much from it, even though it was sometimes scary.

When I was younger I used to worry about being alone in London...now I couldn't give a crap! London is like heaven compared to some cities. You still have to watch your back, cos every town has it's weirdos, lol, but the majority of people in London are great.

Exactly. I'd go back to South Africa tomorrow if I could...but i'd never go back to Cape Town.

I agree about London...I feel safeeeee (there).

The place I felt most unsafe in was Paris...but thats prob cos me and my friends got lost just as it was getting dark...:uhoh:

ahh, i love that about big cities! houston's crime rate is really low these days and walking arund downtown...well, no one does that but if you wanted to, you wouldn't have anything to worry about the occasional dunk hobo. :P in NYC you can walk around fairly unharmed as well, although if you ask for directions sometimes they tend to bite your head off (just ask a police officer and they'll help ya)

Im going to NY in a few weeks!!

To do what?

shopping...visiting the main sights....maybe meeting some people i know from there.....shopping....going in a yellow taxi hehe.....shopping....:D
