Can you swim?

Featured Replies

When people sometimes ask this question in real life I'm pretty shocked, I had assumed swimming is just one of those things you know how to do, like walking.

I'm guessing I had to learn when I was younger, but really I cant imagine learning to swim.

So can you?

Dont be embarassed sunshine. :nice:

Learned when I was 11 cause I was switching up to high school and didn't wanna be the kid who used 4 armbands while everyone else was being dolphins.

no and i have tried many many times to learn, but i just have a terrible fear of being under water i know its stupid especially when your in a swimming pool nothing can possibly happen but i just have a fear of being under water as much as my fear of enclosed spaces which i absolutely hate and fear.

I feel so ashamed now.

I was the only one in my class too... I'm terribly scared of water (not having a shower or a bath though), I mean in big amounts like swimming pools, lakes, rivers and so on...

once we had swimming classes in school, I said the teacher I wouldn't do it... she said if you don't do it I'll fail you (I was the best in class)... I answered: I don't care!!!!

She wanted to fail you?

Oh....well...isn't this the same as if everybody had to play football....and not everybody knows how to play?

yeahh... cause in the first class we were like 7 or 8 not doing swim class... she threaten us and the others did swim on the next class... I didn't... she even called my dad to school...

well Julia, it's really the same, cause the problem isn't not knowing how to swim, the problem is being afraid of water...
