The Importance of Clothes

Or irrelevance?

How important are your clothes to you?

I used to pretty much wear anything simple, and basic, without having any thought put into it. I liked for example, a shirt like this:

Good lord, how shit is that.

So yeah, I'd pretty much go for the simple, logo in the top right hand corner, basic look, with black jeans. Always fucking black jeans.

And then something happened to me, I just became like, fashion conscious. Im not talking about the current trends, but what suits me, and what looks best on me and represents the kinda person I am. My old clothes just didnt do that.

And suddenly, the importance of shopping for clothes was multiplied.

I used to hate shopping, but now I love it. I really cant help but go into a clothes shop these days, I dont always buy something but Im always tempted.

I dont know what happened, but now, clothes are important to me, and in a funny kind of way people suddenly have taken notice to what I wear and acknowledge it. That never happened before, and thats kinda cool.

When I was at primary school I never wore anything other than swetpants. Then I got into highschool and started being more concerned about what suited me better.

Still, I have some issues when it comes to clothing: I don't wear clothes I like. Don't ask me why, but I don't like any of the stuff I have in my closet right now, and the things I do like don't fit. Damn you non-breasted anorexic girls!

I guess you could say kinda the same thing with me. I was not a real clothes buyer, but now I don't mind looking from time to time. I do have a favorite shirt that I love and represents me alot. It is A Flock Of Seagulls shirt that I got at one of there last concerts. I ware it on days that I feel like wareing it.:D Most of the kids at school don't even know how they are:o , so I tell them "they are a very good 80s Band".

Good ol' sweetpants. I used to live in those things but mom and dad wouldn't let me go out in public with them. Maybe they didn't like the turqouise, red, and blue colours they were.

Lets just face it, I'm an out and out bummer.

this is true!

Most recently..since I have started to work at the Gap...I have become more style concious.

Random people who don't know I have the slightest idea of modern style..come up to me and ask me what blouse goes with what skirt...or what shirt goes with what slacks.

I had never done this in my life...pick out entire outfits (I build my closet a few stray articles at a time)

And I absolutly surprised myself at making really classy or really nice looking outfits.. This is now my assigned job

I get mega discounts at that store..so I have bought more clothing that actually goes together AND fits my style. I do have to dress a bit more dressy that I am used to ..and this is fine (it is being done for slight times and good pay).

And working IN the mall..tempts me to venture out into the world of matching and nice clothing. This is good. It's no obsession. But just a more common occurance.

Clothes shopping can be cool :freak:

Hahahaha! This sums up a big chunk of how I feel. Only a year ago I'd never have thought like this, so sometimes I step back and think "Wow, you just had to go into Topman for 20minutes didnt you..."

Oh and....sweatpants are for crazy people!

At least don't go for the old school frumpy sweats look..there are more modern styles!!!

gah! and pick non mauve colors too!

Lets just face it, I'm an out and out bummer.

Hey Kyle! :wink3:

aren't you fresh...

I hate shopping with a passion, but when I find something I like, its cool. I got this awesome pair of jeans a few weeks ago. My friend has dubbed them 'gay pants' because apparently I look quite homoerotic in them.

The more I think about wearing sweatpants, the more bored the supermodel seems

agreed.

I used to hate shopping...i never went into malls unless for special occasions and even then had to be forced or bribed if I couldn't bribe someone else to do it!

I also did alot of online shopping for the purpose of avoiding the social experience...now I do it because you find rareties!

I wear loose sweatpants so they are nothing near what a supermodel would wear.

maybe so.. but why not courdoroy, or windbreaker..who an I kidding..those aren't so great either.

Oh well.

You will suffer the avoidable consequence of low fashion.

But at least you will revel in comfort!

Sweatpants are comfie but bad for your figure, because they stretch out and don't let you see how it actually fits.

:stunned: Whoa. You just completly read my mind, word for word.

I'm a die-hard jeans and a t-shirt type, but I also like crazy bright colors and fun details, so sometimes I go a bit dressyer too- I always feel better about myself when I do.

Unfortunatly at the moment, anything I like is in a style that just doesn't fit no matter what the size- you have to be built like an anorexic tomboy to fit into any of it. Would someone please tell the fashion designers that a girl can be skinny and curvy at the same time? Grr... it's driving me insane. :veryangry2:

Cloths and style is very very important. a well dressed preppy style is the best. ralph lauren, lacoste, abercrombie, banana republic, armani all good styles of cloth.

Lacoste is stylish, i recently found that they make nice shoes too.

I love Cue clothing but its too expensive :( so if i want to make my statement correct i love window shopping for Cue clothing he he.

i think the turning point is once you start uni or get a job.

heh, ditto! I used to not care what i looked like, and i looked like friggin' shit. O.o

i hated going shopping with my parents and my sis, but now i like to tag along and buy stuff. i just bought something from aeropostale a week ago--i never thought I would buy something from there. haha.

but i think that thing that changed me was something called "adolesence," heh.

Hmm... I believe I don't care about what to wear much. I mean, that's not too inportant for me. Sometimes it's funny to wear anything strange but not everyday. I like bracelets, hats and bags more. That's a pity I can't wear bracelets and hats only :uhoh2:
