Question about itunes

Featured Replies

I had a problem with my computer therefore all my songs on itunes were deleated.

How can I put new songs on my ipod without deleating the ones I already have on it?

Sorry dude, I don't think you can. If you had your setup so that iTunes automatically saved your files on the computer then is just a matter of uploading your iTunes folder back into iTunes and sifting through it all..

Thank you!

Can I upload them from my ipod?

I don't have any music on my computer right now because everything was deleated. I also had to installl itunes again, I changed my settings.

Yes, you can rip songs from your iPod, search ipodhacks.org or .com or something. But there's a program that can do that.

Also I believe there is a setting somewhere where you can switch off automatic updating of songs to your iPod, so you can plug it in without the risk of the songs being written off.

Yes, you can.... you have to choose to manage your music manually.

-> iPod preferences, Music Tab, check Manually Manage Songs and Playlists

I usually keep a backup on my iPod after enabling hard-disk usage.

Alternatively, use a computer without automatic updates or one without iTunes, then hop on to:

My Computer ->

-> X-drive (depending on which drive your iPod is hooked up on)

-> iPod_Control

The songs are in all the separate folders. Save a copy of all the songs just in case the following step fails.

Then, even though they're not named, the information should show up on your iTunes when you add them in, so rename them from there. It's much more troublesome but it works perfect.
