Featured Replies

i accept people's music tastes, m'lord

IT'S A DAMN FUCKING COMPETITION, why can't i try to inlfuence people here a bit and make some sarcastic comments (though of course it doesn't work). have you ever seen me posting in the U2 thread saying "they fucking suck"? no, because i respecet their fans, including you.

of course you can try to influence people ... can i please try to break your influence on the candidate U2 voters ?

Indeed i never saw you posting anything like 'U2 fucking sucks' but i never said you did.

The Beatles. I've been listening especially the Abbey Road a lot recently. U2 has some great songs and the band has been one of my favourites for years, but these days I enjoy The Beatles far more than U2, to me their new stuff is not that impressive.. overall 60's was great time for music IMO, so many great bands:)

I love this thread. I've never seen more elitism and entitledment in one place. Honestly.

I voted for U2, should that come as ANY surprise to anyone? No, didn't think so.

It did take me awhile to decide on, though... I mean, I take a week out of my life in April each year to drive to New Jersey for a Beatles Fan Convention. 3 entire days devoted to the Beatles. I am a MASSIVE fan. And I consider myself to have EXCELLENT taste in music, if I do say so myself.

But I voted for U2. And frankly, if you think that this makes me a bad music fan, then you can go fuck yourself sideways. I'm sick of people thinking that the Beatles are and always WILL be the best. I totally respect that, of course, I feel that their level of popularity and achievement will be hard to top. But at the same time, I'm tired of all these people who just jump on a bandwagon and immediately name the Beatles as the best band ever. I happen to think that other artists have made better music, put on better performances and move people's souls in more of a way than the Beatles ever did. But that's me! I've invested my heart and soul into U2. Those four men literally owned my life in 2005. It'd be crazy for me not to think they're the best.

So if you're going to be an a-hole about it and pull the bullshit "I'm gonna leave!" card, then go right ahead. No one's listening anyways.

EDIT:

But you know, if the choice were there, We Are Scientists would beat both of them.

:uhoh:!!!

this was my secret tactic, but now it's not anymore no.gif

I think Nik deserves a lot of credit for creating the music World Cup and keeping the effort up. Regardless of who wins the final it's the taking part that counts, and I think you'll all agree, a lot of people have taken part. I hope it continues next year or the fourth year after, even if many people do think the result will be the same :)

yup, good idea Mr Ian :P

a very big thank you to Nik!!

I actually wanted to add my thank after final, but oh well. Thank you, Nikky boy. First, good and original idea and second, I liked the organisation, I'd probably mess it all 'cause I wouldn't create threads and end polls at time, you know. So yeah, good.

Oh and if U2 wins I doubt that this result will ever repeat... I mean, it looks like a fortuity for them heh.

welcome as always, guys! glad you liked it :)

we can do something similar next year too but with a much improved qualifying round. i think that was mainly the only big mistake that i made this year. and yeah the competing is more important than the winner!

i heard the U2 fans chose Coldplay as the "best act in the world of music" last year, so if U2 would win it, it won't be a big surprise. although, i'm cheering for Beatles this time because of many reasons!

go Beatles go!

Every time I visit this thread the difference between the bands is two votes :worried:

No, seriously, this will be unfair if U2 wins. Oh oh IMO, I better shut up :uhoh2:

I'm a big big fan of U2 but the beatles are the best band ever...
