UK 2006 Alleged Liquid 'Bomb Plot' + Other Fake 'Terror' Scams

Featured Replies

Then you'll be safe...they will go after a place with lots of civilians not military. thats my guess.....

It's annoying though because to get to the nearest town (andover) by the shortest route, you have to use a road which cuts pretty much straight though DLO (DLO kinda built up around the road over time), which means the road can be closed in times of high danger (incase someone comes in with a bomb and tries to do some damage, even though the main buildings are 50 metres away from the road, behind a few layers of fencing.

Then you got Middle Wallop and where they have all those helicopters based, and Larkhill/Tidworth&Bulford Camps to the north. All jolly good fun.

I know this is an MSNBC report but it's a decent segment.

It could have reported so many more and it leaves out some info....but I can't ask for anymore.

MSNBC's Olbermann Exposes Nexus Of Politics And Terror

Details ten clear examples where Bush admin. alerts preceded by damaging revelations

During a prime time segment on his MSNBC show last night, anchor Keith Olbermann presented ten clear examples where the Bush administration had issued terror alerts days after politically damaging revelations and questioned the credibility of each of the alleged plots' authenticity in light of astounding evidence to the contrary.

Olbermann overwhelmingly documents the staged timing of terror alerts spanning back four years and ends by scrutinizing the latest alleged liquid bomb plot - an operation infiltrated and surveilled for months by intelligence agencies, yet announced to the public on a carefully scripted pre-arranged schedule.

The alleged foiling of the terror plot was announced days after darling of the Neo-Fascists Joe Lieberman was defeated in the Connecticut Senatorial election by anti-war opponent Ned Lamont. Hours afterwards, drooling feverish Neo-Con cheerleaders tried to smear Lamont as "the Al-Qaeda candidate."

Something not covered in the Olbermann segment is that - allied to the timing of terror alerts - in every major terror bust case any evidence that supposedly proves a plot actually existed quickly evaporates into thin air with police, government and security officials unapologetic as to the rash implementation and consequences of their actions.

Actions that lead to deadly confrontations and loss of innocent life such as in the case of Jean Charles de Menezes who was repeatedly shot in the head by CO19 special officers as he innocently went about his business at Stockwell tube station. People not already having nervous breakdowns on planes will be less than delighted to learn that one of the officers involved in the shooting has been promoted to train sky marshals on flights from UK to America.

Latest revelations concerning the alleged liquid bomb plot only lend further credence to the assertion that it was a brainchild of the US and UK intelligence agency script writers - fronted by Home Secretary John Reid (pictured) - who is blatantly grandstanding as some kind of Churchillian type figure in the hope of increasing his prospects of taking over from Blair as leader of the Labour Party and British Prime Minister.

150806reid.jpg

"Home Secretary John Reid's assured handling of an alleged plot to blow up airliners in mid-Atlantic has strengthened his credentials to succeed Tony Blair as prime minister," reports the Scotsman.

Meanwhile, dovetailing with our investigation of the Pakistani ISI link to the alleged liquid bomb plot - it is reported today that the terror cell was funded by a Pakistani charity that last year received 10 million dollars From the British government, supposedly for "earthquake relief." As we previously highlighted, Pakistani intelligence agency and charity group links to militant terror groups continue with the blessing of the CIA, who have deliberately and consistently chosen to ignore the connection.

In a related story, an over hyped flap that suggested a large purchase of mobile phones from a Wal-Mart store in Michigan was part of a plot to blow up the the Mackinac Bridge was totally discredited and the suspects released without charge. Their master plan was to buy mobile phones in bulk for re-sale - which is apparently Al-Qaeda like behavior in the United States of Fear. Why they would need 80 mobile phones to trigger one bomb was a question never even asked.

Mike Rivero at WhatReallyHappened.com sums up the insanity up putting someone under suspicion simply because of pictures stored on their digital camera.

"I guess that means I am planning to blow up...

2. The neighbor's dog

3. My wife

4. The dent in my Honda

5. A pineapple

Keith Olbermann and CNN's Lou Dobbs don't have to try too hard to trounce the vast majority of mainstream media talking head government apologists and though a great deal of their material is distracting (in the case of Olbermann) or off-target (Dobbs), both should be commended for standing up to the self-regulating journalistic cowardice that

Pakistan's double win over 'terror'

Asia Times | August 15, 2006

By Syed Saleem Shahzad

KARACHI - Pakistani intelligence agencies and jihadist circles are unanimous that the Pakistanis arrested last week in connection with the thwarted terror attacks on at least 10 aircraft flying from London had been penetrated by Pakistani intelligence since late last year.

However, there are contradictory opinions about the ultimate Pakistani intelligence objectives.

At least seven people were arrested in connection with the plot in the cities of Lahore and Karachi last week. Officials claim they provided important information about the plot. British security officials have detained 24 people - most of Pakistani origin - over the apparent plan to attack planes flying from the United Kingdom to the United States.

A senior Pakistani security official told Asia Times Online, "The real episode started after the earthquake in [Pakistan-administered] Kashmir in October 2005. Various Islamic charities were active to provide relief to the displaced Kashmiris. The US CIA [Central Intelligence Agency] and British MI6 [security Intelligence Service] contacted Pakistan and warned that under the cover of relief money, funds could possibly be transmitted to terror rings in Pakistan.

"MI6, the CIA and a special Pakistani intelligence cell coordinated investigations on the fund transfers. During those investigations, many people were rounded up in Pakistan."

This is where different opinions emerge, however. Pakistani officials have arrested Rashid Rauf (a British national) as a key suspect in the foiled terror plot and have accused him of being linked with al-Qaeda.

Contacts with close knowledge of the arrested men - in the earlier swoops as well as in the wake of the foiled plot - claim that none of them had links with al-Qaeda. Rather, they claim, they were linked with al-Muhajiroun and Hizbut Tehrir.

Hizbut Tehrir (Liberation Party) is a non-violent organization founded in the early 1950s in Jordan for the liberation of Palestine. Its ultimate aim is the revival of the caliphate, which it tries to bring about by toppling what it sees as corrupt Islamic governments.

Pakistan has been particularly hard on the group, most of whose members are British-born Pakistanis sent to work in Pakistan. The most apparent reason is these youths want to stage a coup against the government of President General Pervez Musharraf and infiltrate institutions such as the army.

Muhajiroun is a breakaway faction of Hizbut Tehrir. Most of its members are in the UK. Famous Egyptian scholar Omar al-Bakri was its leader. Muhajiroun was banned in the UK last year after its praise of the attacks on the London Underground.

A contact from among the senior levels of the jihadist cadre told Asia Times Online, "Boys from organizations like al-Muhajiroun and Hizbut Tehrir come to Pakistan from the UK and have nothing to do with al-Qaeda. They are British-born Pakistanis and are interested in [fomenting] a coup in Pakistan. A few of them have been arrested in the past in Islamabad while distributing pamphlets, and then released. I can tell you with surety that the boys [recently] arrested in Pakistan have long been identified by the Pakistani establishment.

"Their fate started when they interacted with a few officials of the Pakistani army. This they were very keen to penetrate to stage a coup, therefore they were close to a few army officers. They were delighted that they had penetrated into the army, but in fact Pakistani intelligence - coming from a strong military background - penetrated deep into them," said the jihadi.

"Those youths, in their 20s and completely unaware of Pakistani society, were very thrilled with their success and even shared their views with people in Islamabad, saying that many officers had agreed to a coup. In fact, we warned them that military officials were only loyal to their job and they would not be committed to any revolutionary cause.

"The youths from Muhajiroun did not agree, and continued to meet with intelligence operators, whom they thought were military officials of the Pakistan army," the jihadi said.

"The closeness of the Pakistani intelligence with some boys with a Muhajiroun background was a known fact, but at what stage it turned out to be their 'London terror plot', we are completely in the dark.

"However, I safely make a conjecture that those highly motivated boys were exploited by agents provocateurs. A religious Muslim youth in his early 20s is undoubtedly full of hatred against the US, and if somebody would guide them to carry out any attack on US interests, there would be a strong chance that they would go for that.

"And I think this is exactly what happened. The government of Pakistan has been seriously trying to cleanse groups like Muhajiroun and Hizbut Tehrir from Pakistan, as well as from the UK. Both groups are fiercely anti-establishment and serious about staging a coup in Pakistan and were enhancing their influence among youths in cities like Lahore and Islamabad. So they were basically trapped," the jihadi said.

It should be remembered that Hizbut Tehrir and Muhajiroun were banned in Pakistan after the September 11, 2001, attacks on the US and all police stations have strict instructions to arrest any person claiming to be the member of the groups.

In the recent past, Pakistani authorities have been arresting members of both organizations under anti-terrorism laws. However, the courts have been releasing them on the basis of insufficient evidence.

The UK Terror plot: what's really going on?

Craig Murray | August 15 2006

I have been reading very carefully through all the Sunday newspapers to try and analyse the truth from all the scores of pages claiming to detail the so-called bomb plot. Unlike the great herd of so-called security experts doing the media analysis, I have the advantage of having had the very highest security clearances myself, having done a huge amount of professional intelligence analysis, and having been inside the spin machine.

So this, I believe, is the true story.

None of the alleged terrorists had made a bomb. None had bought a plane ticket. Many did not even have passports, which given the efficiency of the UK Passport Agency would mean they couldn't be a plane bomber for quite some time.

In the absence of bombs and airline tickets, and in many cases passports, it could be pretty difficult to convince a jury beyond reasonable doubt that individuals intended to go through with suicide bombings, whatever rash stuff they may have bragged in internet chat rooms.

What is more, many of those arrested had been under surveillance for over a year - like thousands of other British Muslims. And not just Muslims. Like me. Nothing from that surveillance had indicated the need for early arrests.

Then an interrogation in Pakistan revealed the details of this amazing plot to blow up multiple planes - which, rather extraordinarily, had not turned up in a year of surveillance. Of course, the interrogators of the Pakistani dictator have their ways of making people sing like canaries. As I witnessed in Uzbekistan, you can get the most extraordinary information this way. Trouble is it always tends to give the interrogators all they might want, and more, in a desperate effort to stop or avert torture. What it doesn't give is the truth.

The gentleman being "interrogated" had fled the UK after being wanted for questioning over the murder of his uncle some years ago. That might be felt to cast some doubt on his reliability. It might also be felt that factors other than political ones might be at play within these relationships. Much is also being made of large transfers of money outside the formal economy. Not in fact too unusual in the British Muslim community, but if this activity is criminal, there are many possibilities that have nothing to do with terrorism.

We then have the extraordinary question of Bush and Blair discussing the possible arrests over the weekend. Why? I think the answer to that is plain. Both in desperate domestic political trouble, they longed for "Another 9/11". The intelligence from Pakistan, however dodgy, gave them a new 9/11 they could sell to the media. The media has bought, wholesale, all the rubbish they have been shovelled.

We then have the appalling political propaganda of John Reid, Home Secretary, making a speech warning us all of the dreadful evil threatening us and complaining that "Some people don't get" the need to abandon all our traditional liberties. He then went on, according to his own propaganda machine, to stay up all night and minutely direct the arrests. There could be no clearer evidence that our Police are now just a political tool. Like all the best nasty regimes, the knock on the door came in the middle of the night, at 2.30am. Those arrested included a mother with a six week old baby.

For those who don't know, it is worth introducing Reid. A hardened Stalinist with a long term reputation for personal violence, at Stirling Univeristy he was the Communist Party's "Enforcer", (in days when the Communist Party ran Stirling University Students' Union, which it should not be forgotten was a business with a very substantial cash turnover). Reid was sent to beat up those who deviated from the Party line.

We will now never know if any of those arrested would have gone on to make a bomb or buy a plane ticket. Most of them do not fit the "Loner" profile you would expect - a tiny percentage of suicide bombers have happy marriages and young children. As they were all under surveillance, and certainly would have been on airport watch lists, there could have been little danger in letting them proceed closer to maturity - that is certainly what we would have done with the IRA.

In all of this, the one thing of which I am certain is that the timing is deeply political. This is more propaganda than plot. Of the over one thousand British Muslims arrested under anti-terrorist legislation, only twelve per cent are ever charged with anything. That is simply harrassment of Muslims on an appalling scale. Of those charged, 80% are acquitted. Most of the very few - just over two per cent of arrests - who are convicted, are not convicted of anything to do terrorism, but of some minor offence the Police happened upon while trawling through the wreck of the lives they had shattered.

Be sceptical. Be very, very sceptical.

Former British Ambassador Says Terror Alert Is "Propaganda"

Indians says group linked to liquid bombers controlled by Pakistan's ISI

Former British Ambassador to Uzbekistan Craig Murray says the alleged transatlantic liquid bomb plot is staged-managed propaganda on behalf of Bush and Blair - who yearn for a "new 9/11" to absolve them of domestic political trouble.

Murray previously blew the whistle on how the British government was using evidence obtained from torture in Uzbekistan - inflicted on its population US-funded regime of Islam Karimov - the dictator who likes to boil people alive.

Murray questions the intent and capability of the alleged terrorists to carry out the attack and offers the likelihood that evidence of the plot was obtained through torture in Pakistan.

"None of the alleged terrorists had made a bomb. None had bought a plane ticket. Many did not even have passports, which given the efficiency of the UK Passport Agency would mean they couldn't be a plane bomber for quite some time," says Murray (pictured).

"In the absence of bombs and airline tickets, and in many cases passports, it could be pretty difficult to convince a jury beyond reasonable doubt that individuals intended to go through with suicide bombings, whatever rash stuff they may have bragged in internet chat rooms."

Trouble is it always tends to give the interrogators all they might want, and more, in a desperate effort to stop or avert torture. What it doesn't give is the truth."

Murray describes the alert as "more propaganda than plot," and points out that of all the Muslim terror suspects who have been charged, 80% have been acquitted and only 2% have ever been convicted on offenses related to terrorism.

Meanwhile, Delhi police in India claim they have concrete evidence that proves collusion between Pakistani intelligence service ISI and the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in carrying out militant attacks in India.

One of the alleged mastermind's of the liquid bomb plot, Rashid Rauf, is a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba. The ISI is a CIA front and the CIA have privately ignored their control of terror groups while publicly lauding Pakistan's status as an ally in the war on terror.

On Monday night it emerged that elements of MI5 wanted the liquid bomb plot to proceed and make the arrests only after the attack had taken place - sacrificing an estimated 3,000 lives and ensuring Britain experienced its own 9/11.

What Does A Terrorist Preparing To Bomb 10 Airliners Do Beforehand? Buys Cakes

Behavior of liquid bomb suspects mirrors 7/7 patsies - no evidence of terror planning

The characters and behavior of the few known liquid bomb suspects are completely inconsistent with any notion that they were preparing to kill themselves in acts of mass terror - mirroring the pre-attack demeanor of the 7/7 patsies.

A CCTV image (top) shows one of the suspects, Tayib Rauf, entering a bulk order supermarket in Birmingham just two hours before anti-terror police swooped in to grab him for his alleged role in a plot to bomb ten transatlantic airliners. What were the tools of terror Rauf was acquiring before his kamikaze death mission? Knives? Peroxide to make the deadly liquid bomb? Cameras to detonate the bombs?

No - he was buying cakes.

"Does this look like the kind of person planning such a plot? He doesn't look like he's about to blow himself up," the owner of the store told the London Mirror.

Rauf chatted with the owner, who said he was more concerned about his father's confectionary business than the fact that he was about to aid in the mid-air slaughter of 3,000 people.

Any two-bit psychologist can tell you that this individual's behavior completely belies the notion that his life is about to come to an end. That in itself exposes the alleged plot for the monumental fraud it is.

Former British Ambassador to Uzbekistan Craig Murray has also highlighted the limited capabilities and intent of the suspects - proof he says that the alert was government propaganda from a cabal that yearns for a "new 9/11."

"None of the alleged terrorists had made a bomb. None had bought a plane ticket. Many did not even have passports, which given the efficiency of the UK Passport Agency would mean they couldn't be a plane bomber for quite some time," said Murray.

Again we hear the same story over and over - they had young families, they were not political, they were active members of the community, everyone liked them whatever race, they loved football, they planned to be doctors, they had future prospects.

Is this an inside joke? MI5 can't even find some angry Muslim loners with criminal records to at least make it appear as if they would have any motive to carry out these attacks? It's such a blatant ruse you wonder if they are doing it on purpose to send a message - that everyone should live in fear of a dawn raid from the terror cops.

The evidence that the London bombers knew they were about to die was so flimsy that newspapers and even the London Metropolitan Police concluded that they were unwitting dupes.

160806bombers.jpg

"A Metropolitan Police counter terrorist expert told a seminar that the four terrorists - Mohammad Sidique Khan, 30, Shehzad Tanweer, 22, Germaine Lindsay, 19, and Hasib Hussain, 18, - did not fit the preconceived terrorist profile."

The 'bombers' purchased return tickets, played cricket, ate Big Macs, and had arguments with members of the public in the hours before the attacks took place. They left no suicide notes.

"I've seen the CCTV footage of these people. They do not appear to be on their way to commit any crime at all. The Russell Square bomber [Hasib Hussain] is actually seen going into shops and bumping into people [prior to his attack]," the expert said.

The bombers were described by friends as as four "nice lads", "normal kids who played basketball and kicked a ball around."

A week after the liquid bomb alert and we still have no motive and no evidence that suggests these individuals are anything other than unfortunate fall guys for Blair's latest act of psychological warfare against the British people.

But it's a battle of information that is increasingly swinging away from baseless fearmongering and in favor of the truth. BBC and British newspaper website forums have been swamped with people expressing their incredulousness about the reality of the latest so-called threat.

A London Guardian journalist in an article today highlights how he traveled the country and found widespread skepticism about the real nature of the alert amongst British citizens - with only tourists wholeheartedly trusting the government.

Assertions that the alert is nothing more than political propaganda have also been echoed by commentators and journalists themselves, following a rash of articles in broadsheet newspapers that scoff at the much vaunted scope of the alleged plot.

Yes of course! they're innocent - if they were real sucide bombers they'd have been wearing combats, they'd have told people, they would have been saying prayers all day, they'd have starved themselves etc etc.

Mass serial killers have been called nice people and referred to as a good neighbour. People hide secrets. These guys were determined to slaughter people and thats what they did.

Your points are 'silly' and make you sound very stupid.

Saying things like "if they were real sucide bombers they'd have been wearing combats, they'd have told people, they would have been saying prayers all day, they'd have starved themselves etc etc." as a response is truely in keepig with the average person who has been utterly fooled.

This isn't an adult conversation for you is it?

Well your article quoted a souce that said one of the suspects was a nice guy who you'd never have imagined was capable of such a thing - People also thought Ted Bundy was a nice guy who had it all etc.

Then you stated that couldnt have known what they were doing because they brought a return ticket and had something to eat and thus were planning to carry around explosives on the tube all day then go home. Thats what you implied/believed.

Of course Prisonplanet.com said it so it must be true. I wonder if you actually work for that website? Do you get a commsion for every link posted?

I could talk about this all day but I doubt it would even provoke you to think for yourself - so I'm not going to waste anymore of my valuable time on this. It should be a closed case.

Hitting a Nerve

CRAIG MURRAY | August 19 2006

I appear to have hit a nerve with my call for a sceptical view of the alleged "bigger than 9/11" plot. In the UK, at least, the more serious wing of the mainstream media is beginning to catch up with the idea that all is not well here.

Still, after eight days of detention, nobody has been charged with any crime. For there to be no clear evidence yet on something that was "imminent" and "Mass murder on an unbelievable scale" is, to say the least, rather peculiar. The 24th person, who was arrested amid much fanfare yesterday, has been quietly released without charge today. Breaking news, another "suspect" has just been released too.

The drip, drip of information to the media from the security services has rather dried-up. The last item of any significance was that they had found a handgun and a rifle--neither of which could have been in any use in the alleged plot. If you were smuggling undetectable liquid explosive onto a plane, you would be unlikely to give the game away by tucking a rifle into your hand baggage.

As with the murder some years ago of the uncle of the suspect held in Pakistan, it remains a possibility that there could be some criminal activity here involving a few of the suspects, which is not terrorist linked.

As the Police immediately told the press about the guns, it is a reasonable deduction that it remains true that they still have found no bombs or detonators, or they would have told us, particularly as they haven't charged anyone yet. They must be getting pretty desperate to announce some actual evidence by now.

This brings us to one particuarly sinister aspect of the allegations--that the bombs were to be made on the plane.

The idea that high explosive can be made quickly in a plane toilet by mixing at room temperature some nail polish remover, bleach, and Red Bull and giving it a quick stir, is nonsense. Yes, liquid explosives exist and are highly dangerous and yes, airports are ill equipped to detect them at present. Yes, it is true they have been used on planes before by terrorists. But can they be quickly manufactured on the plane? No.

The sinister aspect is not that this is a real new threat. It is that the allegation may have been concocted in order to prepare us for arresting people without any actual bombs.

Let me fess up here. I have just checked, and our flat contains nail polish remover, sports drinks, and a variety of household cleaning products. Also MP3 players and mobile phones. So the authorities could announce--as they have whispered to the media in this case--that potential ingredients of a liquid bomb, and potential timing devices, have been discovered. It rather lowers the bar, doesn't it? This has a peculiar resonance for me. I spoke at the annual Stop the War conference a couple of months ago. I referred to the famous ricin plot. For those outside the UK, this generated the same degree of hype here two years ago. It was alleged that a flat in North London inhabited by Muslims was a "Ricin" factory, manufacturing the deadly toxin which could kill "hundreds of thousands of people". Police tipped off the authorities that traces of ricin had been discovered. In the end, all those accused were found not guilty by the court. The "traces of ricin" were revealed to be the atmospheric norm.

The "intelligence" on that plot had been extracted under torture in Algeria--another echo here, as the "intelligence" in this current case has almost certainly been extracted under torture in Pakistan. Another police tip-off to the media was that the intelligence had been stored in plastic jars, and they had indeed found plastic jars containing a suspicious substance. It turned out the containers in question were two Brylcreem tubs. What was in them? In the first, paper clips. In the second, Brylcreem.

I told the story in my speech, and concluded with a ringing "So we must congratulate the government for saving us from a dastardly Islamic plot to take over the World using hair styling products."

I fear the government may have taken me seriously!

I do not discount the possibility that there is a germ of something behind the current alleged plot. Will it be anything like the hype? No.

The hype scarcely lowers. On the flagship ten o'clock news last night, the BBC reported breathlessly on the United flight diverted from Washington to Boston last night, and its fighter escort. We had very earnest besuited security experts terrifying us about the dangers.

The extraordinary thing was that, by this stage, we knew definitely that this was a 60 year old woman with claustrophobia, who had a few loose matches and some Vaseline intensive care hand lotion in the bottom of her handbag. The facts reported were totally at odds with the whole manner of the "be terrified" report and the analysis being built on it. But that didn't stop them.

It has, of course, worked. When did you last see Iraq on the news? Where is Liebermann's defeat now on the news agenda?

When I was at school, about fifteen years ago now, a floppy disc was passed round containing the Jolly Roger's CookBook. It was an anarchist cook book, loads of .txt files on making bombs, explosives, mantraps, analogue phone hacking equipment, all kinds of cool stuff that us as school kids thought was brilliant.

Adrian Haslem printed out a copy which eventually got into the hands of the headmaster and there was a lot of trouble about it. But hey ho, just about everybody in our year at school had a copy of the original floppy disc.

Thermit is one of my favourite really dangerous things you can make at home. Its simply iron oxide and aluminium mixed togetehr, I used rust scraped from railings and some schredded drinks cans. To set thermite alight, you need something that burns really really hot, such as magnesium (nicked from chemistry labs at school or your mate's dad).

Thermite is used in welding, it burns continuously at above 500degrees. And a heap of quality thermite the size of a fifty pence piece will burn straight through the engine of a car.

It also works quite well on the coin boxes of public telephones.

Haha, I know of that floppy disk.....everybody had it at my school too.

Hey, add some sulphur and barium nitrate to that Thermite and you get Thermate. Now that stuff really cooks! woo!

Military style!

Haha Hehehe *sick*......laugh while you still can.

The more you post the more it shows how little you know about the completely fucked-up way this world and your country is running.

You just flat ignore almost everything......which is something you'll live to regret.

oh i understand howe extremely fucked up the world is. i just dont make up more stories to make it seem even worse...

Pakistanis find no evidence against ‘terror mastermind’

GLEN OWEN / UK Daily Mail | August 20 2006

The Briton alleged to be the ‘mastermind’ behind the airline terror plot could be innocent of any significant involvement, sources close to the investigation claim.

Rashid Rauf, whose detention in Pakistan was the trigger for the arrest of 23 suspects in Britain, has been accused of taking orders from Al Qaeda’s ‘No3’ in Afghanistan and sending money back to the UK to allow the alleged bombers to buy plane tickets.

But after two weeks of interrogation, an inch-by-inch search of his house and analysis of his home computer, officials are now saying that his extradition is ‘a way down the track’ if it happens at all.

It comes amid wider suspicions that the plot may not have been as serious, or as far advanced, as the authorities initially claimed.

Analysts suspect Pakistani authorities exaggerated Rauf’s role to appear ‘tough on terrorism’ and impress Britain and America.

A spokesman for Pakistan’s Interior Ministry last night admitted that ‘extradition at this time is not under consideration’.
