i just don't have friends to go with most of the time!

16 concerts and counting for me :)

Hopefully I will pass the 20 mark by the end of the year :)

I went to my first gig in february (U2 -vertigo tour).. and I went alone because no one of my friends wanted to go to the concert... and it was the best day ever anyway

then in march I went to an oasis gig and that's all.. no one comes here :(

Ah CHILE!!!!!(sorry)

wow-on your own?i would if it was coldplay!-my mission in life=CP gig...............love them SOOOOOOO much!

I'm from Chile... and well.. since the last u2 concert was in 1998 I went alone because I didn't want to wait another 8 years to see them live

and well.. if coldplay comes here I don't care to go on my own... although I know I'd go with some of my friends

Gggggrrrrrrr....no one famous ever come to Oklahoma. And I certainly doubt U2 will be here anytime soon. Oh well, maybe All-American Rejects will do a homecoming tour seeing as they are from Stillwater.

My first concert was when I was 21 (REM). Try stop me now.

As for advice....

If you want to get to the front (or as near as possible) start queing really early. I've queued literally all day for gigs, but it's well worth it. Plus you always meet nice people in the que to chat to :)

If possible, don't take a bag. That way you wont have to have it searched and can get through quicker.

Don't take a camera that looks too flashy (i learnt my lesson on that one!)

Wear comfertable shoes!

Ermmm.....cant think of much else! Just get ready to RAWK!!! :D

but dont focus TOO much on taking pictures! make sure u appreciate the concert NOT through ur camera lens. :)

the first time i saw coldplay it was kinda a blur because i kept trying to get a good picture of them. so all i really remmeber from that concert is trying to take a picture and i didnt get to really appreciate that i was seeing them live.

and yes definitely wear comfortable shoes. :D u'll feel the repercussion of wearing uncomfortable shoes after the gig is over and ure limping back home hehe.

ooo and if u plan to be in front do not. i repeat do not drink lots of liquids that day. because unless u hve a gang of friends with you who are willing to hold ur spot for you.. its gonna be near impossible to get to the bathroom for the entirety of the concert.

^Haha, easy for you to say, not taking pictures... psssssssssh! :P No, definately don't spend all your time taking pictures. I take a lot, but what I do is I limit myself to three songs (which is what the pit photographers with passes do anyways, it's practice!). So I limit myself to three songs, one with flash and the others without. Sometimes, depending on the venue, I cheat a bit and try to catch whatever moments I can. But don't let taking pictures encompass the whole time ;) I sound like a total hypocrit, some shows I go to just to TAKE pictures!! :laugh4:

And yeah, I agree with the tips on GA concerts. Comfy shoes (well, ok, unless you're way back in line and you're short like me, I actually do wear heels even when I'm front of the line, but I can handle them... usually... They were a killer at the Keane gig I went to, but it helped :laugh4: ), DON'T DRINK OR EAT. Seriously, it sucks being stuck on the rail and having to pee. But once the show starts, you go right into Concert Survival Mode. Believe me. haha, get their early if it's a band you REALLY have to see front row! And always know the crowd before hand. That way you know if it's a total moshpit, don't stay second-sixth row. That would be a mess. If you don't have the rail and you're going to see a band, like say, Arctic Monkeys, don't stand in the open floor unless you're into getting kicked in the face. Stand on the side or in the back. It's worth it. And if you do stay second row, don't try to steal the rail from the people who are on it. Believe me, YOU WILL GET HURT. :sneaky:

Don't bring in a bag. It will kill you if it's a fast moving GA line, people can cut who don't have purses. If you have a camera, stick it in your pocket, bra, or just hold it in your hand if the venue isn't big on the no camera policy. Maybe a small sack that you can keep under your shirt that they won't search, but to keep your ID in. ;) I made the whole Keane GA line in Boston go put their bags away so we'd get in faster, haha. Hey, it worked, we all got the rail!

If you go alone, be careful. Know your environment. Know who's around you, and don't talk to anyone who looks even mildly drunk. If someone starts to bother you, remove yourself from the situation as fast as possible, or just stand there and ignore it (which I chose to do at the Strokes gig, lmfao, what an asshole).

I could go through a whole range of concert related tips, hell, I'm excercising them tomorrow when I see Kasabian... :laugh4: But yeah. I won't go on anymore ;) If you do go alone, you'll always meet really great people. I've made a lot of friends through GA queu's! A lot of them I see at other gigs and we hang out, it's really cool. Great way to meet guys......... :sneaky: hahaa

And believe me, once you go to one gig, you will become addicted. I find myself living for concerts, they keep me going and help me deal with all the stress from school. Don't be shy to check out small bands in small venues, just because something's not getting announced on the radio doesn't mean it won't be AMAZING! The smaller the show, the better! :D

/DONE!

Hallo-i'm 19 but have yet to go to a gig-how sheltered.i get to see Muse on 7th November so very excited!

MUSE: YEEE HAAAAA

muse was my first concert too, back in 2004. going to see them again in january.

trust me, for a first concert, they are the most mindblowing band to see live.

all the advice i can give is:

-wear comfortable shoes

-make sure you wear a belt if your jeans are capable of being pulled down a bit

cos the muse moshpits are crazy especially if you're in the front

-try not to wear pants or whatever that are too suffocating though, because that will make things worse. it gets to incredible temperatures in there. it's like a whole new world :dizzy:

-no longsleeve tops. again you will roast to death

-if you go with a group of friends, and you decide to bring a bag, put it in the locker room, because i assure you, it is impossible to keep a bag with you in there. i was more focussed on trying to stay alive. the 2nd-6th lines are crazzzyyy

-warning: you will be dying from dehydration when you finish which is lovely... lol :)

-enjoy it, soak it uppppppp man, sing along to every single word, muse is amazing live, and the best possible band you could see as a first concert. i lost my concert virginity to them too :wacky: it's a night you'll neverrr ever forget. no matter which bands i see, which include the foo fighters, kaisers, franz ferdinand, coldplay, etc, even though coldplay is my ultimate favourite, nothing will ever live up to the muse concert, because they will bloooooooowww your mind back to siberia. :nice:

bon is temporarily back!

i lost my concert virginity to coldplay a couple months ago at 16. and fucking hell what an experience it was. first concerts are the fucking best!!!!

I spent a long time after Coldplay concert regretting how few pics I took, so it's a fine line.

actually my first one was when I was younger and it was a really dumb embarassing one...it was Shania Twain. I know. What a crappy way to lose your concert virginity.

I'm a concert virgin.:embarassed:

When Coldplay came to Philly for the Twisted Logic Tour, the same night I left for Phoenix! :( Damn bad timing!

^I REALLY LOVE YOUR SIG PICTURE OMG. The Office!!!

Another tip:

And don't be devestated if a band cancels on you. You never know, it could turn into the best thing ever!

*just went to see Kasabian and only 7 people turned up, therefore it got canceled* :laugh4: :laugh4: Best thing ever. Best non gig ever ;) So yeah....

You've got to be kidding. Why on earth would something like that ever happen? You've got to explain yourself on this one Danielle.
