I really need something other than Radiohead to listen to. They seem to make all other music insignificant.

Recommend me a brilliant album, give an excellent reason, and I will go listen to it.

You can use this thread to recommend any albums you want to.

I know exactly what you mean! When I started listening to Radiohead, half the bands I used to listen to just seemed so lame in comparison!

A brilliant album thats practically as brilliant as Radiohead......god I have no idea. Personally, my second favorite band right after Radiohead is Nirvana, sounds different, but just as brilliant! So if you go with Nirvana then its either Nevermind or In Utero (I personally prefer In Utero) Nirvana have EXCELLENT lyrics, thats what I love about them.

If you've already heard those, then its definatly Soundgarden - Superunknown. That album is flawless!

Well, I have both those Nirvana ones so I'll check out the Soundgarden, thanks. :wink2:

Keep the recommendations comin'!

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (on top of my 100 albums-list...) :

The absolute concept album. When you listen to it, you'll realise that everything "so new" Radiohead made on OK Computer and Kid A, was not so new actually. You can listen to any Pink Floyd album, they're the greatest band ever.

Yeah, Pink Floyd = one of the greatest bands ever.

1. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

dreamy, beatiful, noisey rock. triumph of their career

and...Pitchfork rated it as the best album of the 90s in 99, 2nd was OKC then...some years later OKC and Loveless switched places for unknown reasons...

one of the best albums ever

2. Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

best indie band ever, best indie album ever. if you want real indie pop/rock listen to this and not to fucking Razorlights or Kasabians

BEST FUCKING INDIE ALBUM EVER!

10.0

3. Jeff Buckley - Grace

you probably heard enough appreaciation about Jeff

4. Neil Young - Harvest

5. Neil Young - After The Goldrush

i'm really into Neil Young now, these 2 are my favourites from his all, even better than On The Beach in my opinion. you should give them a try. Neil's voice is beatiful

6. Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

7. Joy Division - Closer

you will love them because of Ian Curtis' voice (Interpol's Paul Banks sounds very similar), you will love them because of heart-touching lyrics, even if they can be really depressing and you will love them because Love Will Tear Us Apart is one the best songs ever written

8. R.E.M. - Automatic For The People

a classic R.E.M. album, i think it's their best yet

9. George Harrison - All Things Must Pass

best post-Beatles era album

10 Liars - Drum's Not Dead

easily best album of 2006, it's just amazing. you might not heard about it before, because it wasn't really reviewed anywhere, but believe me this stuff is amazing.

overall: 50th

2006: 1st!!!

It would be helpful if any recommendation could come with an upload, or an upload link!!

Thanks in advance!:)

Starting with the ones above, perhaps?

The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place by Explosions In The Sky.

Music has never moved me as much. You may not be able to find it in the shops, so let me know and I'll give you the link.

:dozey:

Can't go wrong with "A Northern Soul" by The Verve. If Urban Hymns was the morning after, this is the night before. Not one bad song on the album at all, and you never get bored of it.

just try anything by Nick Drake

try green day "American Idiot"

Try britney spears!

Give Up, by The Postal Service. Great alternative album.

Sigur Ros - ( ), Agaetis Byrjun and Takk... those will keep you busy for a long long time.

i can advice you all Jamiroquai albums....but i want to suggest an album called "Les Fleurs" of Franco Battiato.....:)

^This is all pointless without uploads.

All 3 Elbow Albums are really good.

Although the first couple are really dark and complex.
