^This is all pointless without uploads.

Do you have a torrent program? And if so, are you a member of Demonoid.com?

The thread isn't pointless without uploads, and I know you didn't mean that seriuosly, but, people, if you can , it is a good idea to link to an upload.

If you've already heard those, then its definatly Soundgarden - Superunknown. That album is flawless!

Listened to it yesterday, nice!

They are the only one of the "Big 4 Seattle Grunge Bands" that I hadn't listened to and after repeated listens to that album, they are my favourite already. Morse than Nirvana!

3. Jeff Buckley - Grace

I'll second that. I just bought the album yesterday and it's absolutely fantastic.

Can't go wrong with "A Northern Soul" by The Verve. If Urban Hymns was the morning after' date=' this is the night before. Not one bad song on the album at all, and you never get bored of it.[/quote']

Was just about to say that (http://rapidshare.de/files/29639691/ANS-part1.zip / http://rapidshare.de/files/29683677/ANS-part2.zip). But probably put first on the list 'A Storm In Heaven' by them (http://rapidshare.de/files/15329681/The_Verve_-_1993_-_A_Storm_in_Heaven.rar.html).

Oh and I'd add some Bright Eyes(http://rapidshare.de/files/29489848/Bright_Eyes-Im_Wide_Awake_Its_Morning-_Advance_-2005-RRD.zip.html) in there as well. And of course, you can never get enough of 'Revolver'.

I hope when you're talking about the big 4 that you're including the Screaming Trees.....and if not....try :

Finally some love for A Norther Soul around here. I thought I was the only one.

Looks like I have some heavy listening to do. Joy!

Oh I gave up keeping their thread alive! Maybe it's time to give it a second chance?

And I'd say listen to some Spiritualized! Early albums are my choice.

Porcupine Tree - Stupid Dream

We Are Scientists-With Love And Squalor

I have never listened to ANY album, barring none, as much as I've listened to this one. I am utterly obsessed. Actually, I think it's gotten to the point where it's beyond an obsession :laugh4: I need it to get through my day. :uhoh:

Buy it. Live it. Rape it. Love it.

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

dreamy, beatiful, noisey rock. triumph of their career

and...Pitchfork rated it as the best album of the 90s in 99, 2nd was OKC then...some years later OKC and Loveless switched places for unknown reasons...

one of the best albums ever

I listened to this album today, and to be honest, I didn't really see the charm in it. I think it might have been ebcause of lack of lyrics. But then, I have only listened to it once, it might grow on me.

Jeff Buckley - Grace

you probably heard enough appreaciation about Jeff

Suprisingly, I hadn't actually listened to this album as a whole before, and I agree with the praise, one of the best albums I've ever heard!

Neil Young - Harvest

Neil Young - After The Goldrush

i'm really into Neil Young now, these 2 are my favourites from his all, even better than On The Beach in my opinion. you should give them a try. Neil's voice is beatiful

I already own both these albums, they are amazing, I agree. He is the perfect example of a guitarist that isn't mind-blowingly technical, yet he makes music ten times better than any 'shred'.

6. Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

Joy Division - Closer

you will love them because of Ian Curtis' voice (Interpol's Paul Banks sounds very similar), you will love them because of heart-touching lyrics, even if they can be really depressing and you will love them because Love Will Tear Us Apart is one the best songs ever written

Still haven't listened yet. I'll get 'round to it.

R.E.M. - Automatic For The People

a classic R.E.M. album, i think it's their best yet

Amazing album, in all aspects. One of the greatest bands ever.

George Harrison - All Things Must Pass

best post-Beatles era album

Full of stand-out tunes, although I hadn't actually heard this particular album yet. It is definitely his best solo album, dunno if it better than Imagine though.

10 Liars - Drum's Not Dead

easily best album of 2006, it's just amazing. you might not heard about it before, because it wasn't really reviewed anywhere, but believe me this stuff is amazing.

overall: 50th

2006: 1st!!!

Didn't really like this one much, it was alright, but I don't think it is my kind of thing really.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea

best indie band ever, best indie album ever. if you want real indie pop/rock listen to this and not to fucking Razorlights or Kasabians

BEST FUCKING INDIE ALBUM EVER!

10.0

I left this one for last on purpose. OMG!!! BEST ALBUM I HAVE HEARD FOR MONTHS!!!

This is what indie music should be like. Amazing voice and music, they compliment each other perfectly.

Stand-out tracks:

The King of Carrot Flowers pts. two and three.

Excellent build-up, perfect tempo. Awesome

In an Aeroplane over the Sea.

Brilliantly clear acoustic guitar, beautiful lyrcis, excellent accompaniement.

Communist Daughter.

Just fucking amazing. Would easily be the best song on the album if it was just a bit longer. In fact, it could be one of the greatest songs ever! Is there perhaps any longer versions? This song is bliss.

Ghost.

Probably the best along with Communist Daughter. The drums in this song are like the most perfect drums ever. Great to tap along to. Excellent brass section.

Only problem with this album, well actually it isn't really a problem, but the lyrics are a bit...... weird. 'Semen stains the mountain-tops'? 'placing fingers in the notches through your spine'? Still, very nice.

Definitely one of my favourite albums already.
