who is the other person singing in 'why are you looking grave' on cd?

its a gruff sounding voice.

It surprised me cos i don't think i heard it on youtube vid.

The other voice you hear is J Mascis and he's on the album version of the song.

 

He's more famous for being in the band Dinosaur Jr, who are a big favourite of Mew.

I guess it was a dream come true for Mew to get him to appear on the album.

 

He also sings a bit on An Envoy To The Open Fields.......you should be able to make out his tone.

An Envoy To The Open Fields is on the album.......unless you have an odd release..?

a little off-topic here, i checked in my laptop to get the latest security software uploaded and told them to take a look at my hard drive and now the whole thing is being updated but that means there is a chance i could lose stuff, and by stuff i mean all music and all things mew. indeed i am hoping for the best and that they can save everything but maybe, maybe i'm in denial about it. i d o n ' t k n o w .

What, so you took it into a computer shop and aked them to updated your security...yes..?

I doubt they will have deleted any of your data.

basically, yes. i wanted norton off my laptop altogether since i thought that was making it slow, but it was actually a glitch in my hardrive which was slowing everything down. [norton is still being removed regardless]

 

as a result they will be replacing the hardrive but first saving what they can from the one already in there. they said depending on it's condition they'll know what, if anything, is lost. the possibility alone is daunting. i've only just realised how much [besides music] i would loose.

 

i'm at the stage where i'm hoping for the best.

indeed, what a day it's been. my family and i got up for the dawn session here on the sunny coast. it was simple and touching. also my sister's bday so a very special day.

mmm its special for me too, i was at the anzac day match at the mcg and my grandfather was in ww2, the last post always gives me goosebumps its that intense...

Thanks Gareth. I'm silently confident it will be fine too :) This place makes the thought of losing the Mew stuff, atleast, ok since it's all retrievable.

 

^The traditional match was still exciting dispite the bombers losing by a couple goals. But they're back in form. I'm waiting for the bombers vs. lions match here. Things are going to get messy, I can't wait!

a friend of mine is a die-hard lions fan so that will make things extra sweet :wink: an ess victory will make her see the light. i've never supported the brissy lions, not in a single match against anyone, so sitting in the center of a sea of lions fans is sounding very appealing!

I promised Kathy I'd post this, so here it is!!

 

My portrait of Bo! :D I'm quite happy with the way it came out. It's only the second portrait I've ever attempted, and has prompted me to pick up drawing again. Btw, that's a pick in his mouth if you can't tell, not his tongue. :P Yay to Bo for being such a pleasant drawing subject. Wasn't too difficult having to stare at his mug for an hour or two... :laugh4:

 

 

I used a really light pencil, so some of the finer shading was lost on my old scanner. I darkened it in photoshop. I've done another of Jonas, but need to fix it up a wee bit still. Will post when I'm satisfied with it.

 

Kathy, keep us posted on the status of your computer. I'd send it a get well card if it could read. Please pass along my best wishes, eh? :laugh3:

OMG Nadia! That is amazing. It looks exactly like Bo! You should post it on the official site if you haven't already since Bo himself could see it :D Hm one of Jonas too lol well you know I shall be early awaiting that! :P

 

I am also very happy to report that all your support for my pc has been well appreciated and it's up and running, everything saved :) I'm so relieved and never so quick to back everything up. All my video footage from the CP concert is on here too and no one besides my family and I have seen it so I should share it with you all in case I don't get the chance too [if you'd like to see it of course!]

Hello everyone. Hello.

Well it seemed someone hacked into our thingy and sent off some very short bulletins. Sorry about that. At least that's what I think must have happened, I can't be certain, it may have been Bo playing tricks on you all.

We're back in Copenhagen, it's lovely. Our recent US tour was a lot of fun! It was more than fun, it was wonderful! Thanks all of you who came to see us. It feels good to see that people are finding out about us.

I don't have much else to write just now. We are writing new songs and it's very enjoyable, really exciting! There will be less than a handfull of shows in the Summer, but something might happen in the Fall. We haven't decided yet. In the meantime we will be writing, swimming, and dancing.
