i have frengers! dad got home from overseas yesterday, so i now have both mews LPs as hardcopies! which is awesome, and frengers is probably my favourite album of all time...

^ i'm jealous!

StarsKay you like my little Aye Aye isn't it adorable :)

It's my 3-4 month late birthday present from my blog stalker :D

Although your means of obtaining this album are a bit shady, yay for you! ;)

And congrats Josh on adding Frengers to your collection.

My brother is studying abroad in Copenhagen this Fall and I've already jotted down a shopping list for him....including Triumph and as many singles as he can find/carry. :D I think I'm almost more excited than he is.

Kekita, I've been meaning to ask you....WHAT IS THAT THING?

i really, really, really like this band. :D

^ thats great to hear :) they really are something else.

mew are performing shows in denmark, norway and somewhere in asia yet to be confirmed. fingers crossed :) read more in their recent blog on their myspace.

also some favorite mew vids are being taken down from youtube due to a regular uploader having her account pulled. i've taken off the dead links from my sig post. this is just terrible. may her account be revived some day soon! in the meantime, it's probably best to download their vids before they are pulled as well.

:furious3:

please may it be australia... please!!!!

and and another thing, new sig :) kathy you inspired me... and i couldn't wait, i needed a photoshop fix!

aw, as i've said before, that's a great sig Josh, so many talented musicians! thanks again for yndi halda, i've finally heard it!

we can live and dream. i'm positive they will venture to australia soon. all reason points to it. meanwhile i shall do just that, live in dreams, hours at a time where that wish to see them is fulfulled, only until i wake up and face the reality that they are on the otherside of the world, that's where itunes come into play and takes me back... :nice: :nice:

Aw, I hope for your sakes that Australia is Mew's next tour destination! All frengers deserve to be treated to Mew live at least once. Until then, happy dreams. :nice:

Josh, I recognize all those album covers...and they all happen to be favorites of mine. ;)

we need to hound Mew writes letters, threaten with kidnapping etc.

then they can come to play at my house with three or more Mew fans hehe (just kidding but i wonder how many aussie Mew fans there are out there.....?)

btw lunar my sig is an aye aye they're part of the lemur family, thier habitat is in the island of Madagascar of f the east coast of Africa.

Aye Ayes are considered to be bad luck (cos they look freaky have big eyes as they are nocturnal and some hae red eyes, have long and thin middle fingers which they use to tap at tress and then get into cracks in trees for grubs) and thus they are endangered- the locals kill them, and also habitat has been reduced farming practices, logging etc.

sorry for that long description its just they're one of my favourite animals and i used to want to be a biologist (david attenborough was my hero) and work either in Madagascar with lemurs or at the Charles Darwin research center in the Galapagos Islands.

yes we should kekeita, although ive spoken to sony bmg and they are already playing at my house when they come out... free beers and suasage rools provided hahahaha

a biologist ey? what do you do know then? a uni student i presume?

^ hehe nah i discovered pracs at high school and had a really boring biology teacher so i gave that dream up.--- she actually made me repeat a prac (which was hell!)

ah darn you beat me to the punch! cool free food i'm there!

hahaha. i love biol :)

so what do you do then? lol i'm on a personal question session....

uni student my real ambition is to get into film/animation.

and yourself you want to be a Mew listening, biological scientist?

no no not quite, i want to be a mew listening doctor working in foreign aid with medicines sans frontieres...

awesome that's something worth striving for-- all the best.

i would love to work in medicines sans frontieres....but there is the little prob that i'm never gona be a doc or nurse.

Edit: well gotta go and listen to mew, i mean do my work.

cheers nice talking to you.

sorry for that long description its just they're one of my favourite animals and i used to want to be a biologist (david attenborough was my hero) and work either in Madagascar with lemurs or at the Charles Darwin research center in the Galapagos Islands.

on the topic of David Attenborough, our uni has invited him to present special lectures for our biology courses. !!!!! . i am so excited! i hope he accepts, it would make everything mean that much more. we watch his docs all the time in lectures, they are amazing, not that you guys would need reminding. anyway just thought i'd add my 2c oh yeah, and that time on the ledge is amazing, i'm addicted to this beautiful song all over again.

yikes gotta go to chem [yay for me  lol]

Omg! is it in Melbourne! maybe i can sneak in! you were born under a lucky star methinks.

Oh wow, what an opportunity! I've always admired his work and his wonderful documentaries. Having an individual of that magnitude and influence come in for guest lectures would definitely be inspiring. Hope it works out.

On a related note, last week I went for an Archaeology film festival and the keynote speaker was Dr. Louise Leakey, daughter of Dr. Richard Leakey who was the son of Dr. Louis Leakey. Their whole family has made so many contributions to the field of paleoanthropology/human evolution (perhaps you've read about them in Nat'l Geo? ...). It was a real honor to hear her presentation - just a little reminder to myself to always aim high...maybe someday people will look up to me! :nice: /end blab.

Mew......

I was listening to Killer a lot today...the music...rather, the cadence of the music (does that make sense?), really gives me the creeps, but I'm still drawn to it.

@kekita - thanks for explaining what an aye aye is! I google-image searched them, and actually find those little guys quite cute (in a strange, strange way). Little bug eyes and bushy tails. Aw.

yeah it would be fascinating indeed, fingers are still crossed!

i've actually heard about the Leakey family. no idea how that stuck in my mind but i did. what an opportunity, i'm glad you got a lot out of it, hope i do too! [if he accepts that is]

on a different note but mew-related-ish-kinda, i was walking to my stop and there was this kid in front of me he completely had Jonas' dress sense down to the T. i felt like i was looking at a miniature version of the man himself. jeans, sneakers, shirt, black jacket, okay reading that back it sounds like any old person could pull it off, i guess you had to be there but i had to grin to myself nonetheless ;)

Hey everyone!

Lunar1126 told me about this topic, and I thought that I would stop by and say hi. So, here I am! :D

Anyway, I'm from Denmark - like Mew. I've attended some of their early concerts, before they became more popular and went international. They haven't really given many concerts in Denmark for a while, but I hope they'll come home soon and do some gigs :)

Happy to meet all of you :)

:nice: Welcome once again, eyelime!! (cool username btw) Glad you dropped by this lovely thread. :)

So v. awesome that you've been to some Mew gigs (ah, plural! - lucky you).

As far as I know, they are at home right now, working on the new album and "lubricating muscles on beaches" (Bo's words, not mine!) They aren't doing too many shows over the summer besides playing at Quart Festival (in Kristiansand, Norway) in early July and Beatday in Copenhagen on August 17th. I'm sure tickets are probably long sold out for that last one, but keep your (lime)eye on ebay! Maybe you'll get lucky and get to go! (and then tell us all about it...). Oh, and they also recently announced the possibility of some shows in Asia....that's got some people on here quite excited. lol Anyyyyway, good to have a Dane around - perhaps now you can translate some Mew interviews for us! :sneaky: I kid, I kid.....kinda.

Kathy - :laugh4:....just :laugh4:! Actually, similarly a month or so back I saw a Jonas look-a-like while grocery shopping (I wont go into details lest you think me crazy)...but I did follow him around a bit because the resemblance was too uncanny.

GUYS!!! COOL STUFF! Jonas drew a page for the Frenger Comic!!!! http://www.myspace.com/frengercomic

If you have no idea what the frenger comic is, think of it like a big, evolved inside joke from the mewsite forum members. There is a long complex backstory which I had to have someone else explain to me - I'll try to summarize if anyone is really interested.

But all that is important here is that Jonas finally drew a page - and it's a good one too! If you can't view the frenger comic blog on myspace (seems to be down for maintenance at the moment), Jonas also posted it on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/68429634@N00 The drawings are quite impressive. Clearly a man of many talents! :D:D

One more thing to add.....

Video Blog 3 - It's an artsy one of Mew in their studio (I presume?). Jonas makes friends with some cows. Silas makes some noise on the drums. And Bo wears an amazingly brightly colored sweater. Go see!

(This is my 3rd post in a row.....this is a thread takeover! Hands up!)
