U218 Singles

Featured Replies

I was just talking to someone about this. Do you think U218 Singles is a waste/a piece of crap??

Not sure what happened there..:disappointed:

for me it's ok, wouldn't call it crap. it's good for someone who doesn't really know a lot of u2 tracks and want a collection of their hits.

i can see how die-hard fans would think it's...meh.

I can't call a piece of crap an album collecting some of the most important songs not only for U2 but for music history as well..I would rather call it not useful at least from my point of view of fan, as I already have all these songs and I think many beautiful songs of them have been left out (but this is a collection of their most succesfull singles, which means they can also not be the best ones ;) )

I only bought it for the Milan DVD..but for someone who doesn't want to buy all their albums can be a good starting point to begin knowing the band, being aware this is not really the best they can do...and I know many people who really think this way, to whom I already suggested to have a listen to their whole albums.

For someone who already know them this album doesn't add anything apart from The Saints are coming (with Green Day), but there is also the single out, and the new song Window in the skies, which will be released as a single as well next year

^Agreed.

So what if it's a waste to those who have every single one of their albums and over 200 live show bootlegs ( :uhoh: ), it may not be a waste to others. Plus it's got the DVD and all that. Fuck it, I'm buying it. All greatest hits albums are a waste, if we're going to go down that route. Who caaaaares. It'll either sell, or it won't.

Denise, Dani-Word by word exactly. I wouldnt call a piece of crap the collection of a band's most important singles, its part of history and perhaps the signaling of a new musical era for them. Who knows what they might come up next? :D

I have all their songs and albums, and a few bootlegs(Not 200, wow, 200 Danielle? :o) but hey, even if it didnt bring the DVD, I still would have gotten it. It might be a waste for others, not for me :smug:

Who were you talking about this to? :P

Well you know my answer, its is a piece of crap the actual album. The only thing worth buying is the deluxe with the Milan DVD or possibly the DVD with the music vids on it.

I don't like compilations so this doesn't appeal to me at all... I'm also not really a fan of U2 teaming with Green Day. They just don't seem to go together.

yea i agree...i bought the music video dvd...its money....got some extras like the making of the vertigo DVD.

I guess it's ok for people new to U2, but I just don't understand why they would release essentially a "Greatest Hits" album after they did that not too long ago! They should've just saved window in the skies for the next album in my opinion.

It's a good compilation album if you don't own any of the other back catalogue, if you want to have an introduction to U2.

Although I prefer the Best of 1980-1990.

I agree. The Best of 1980-1990 is an awesome greatest hits album, a good album to get started on U2.

I started with ALl that you can't leave behind and then got the best of 80s for Christmas, my first 'real' U2 album that wasn't burnt.

Well put, my sentiments exactly.

Stupid Deluxe edition keeps getting delayed here in Canada. First it was November 21st, then November 28th, now it is December 1st. If it isn't out then, I'm not even going to buy it. Universal Canada is sucks. Not the first time they've delayed friggin U2 stuff.

I voted NO. Although there have been two Best Ofs yet. And like that, it's obvious that they want our money. Well, they won't get mine. I've got the two Best Ofs already + How To Dismantle... That's all I need. Well, The Saints Are Coming would be great though.
