Does anyone of you know what the Coldplay members listen to?

Radiohead, Dylan, Beatles,...?

And maybe which Bands like Coldplay?

I think we had a similar thread before, yeah.. The first band that comes to my mind is, of course, Sigur Rós, who they appearently absolutely admire! They're also big fans of U2, the Beatles and Radiohead, as far as I know.. These are the most important I guess.

Oh...Chris loooooves Johnny Cash! And I've read Guy likes James Brown, Pink Floyd and Neil Young.

Jonny likes Happy mondays I think. Will loves Tom Waits and Neil Young, and Guy said Genesis in the DVD but I think that was more 'back in the day!'. And the Beatles, he said he collected Beatles covers.

Well,I think U2 is an obvious one,since they pretty much took their sound and made a few alterations to it

Jonny, Will and Chris were photographed at a Strokes gig not that long ago so I guess they like them...

 

Not sure I agree that they took their sound straight from U2 and made a few alterations... I'm not a mad fan of U2 but and a great fan of coldplay... :thinking:

I remember chris once mentioned supergrass and muse as well ;)

Oh yeah, Supergrass, definitely! He said that at the gig in London, when Supergrass and Morning Runner were supporting - they said they've always been "huge Supergrass fans" and also thought that "Morning Runner are great and are gonna get huge" :)

I've also heard the guys saying in interviews that they listen to Kate Bush and Kraftwerk, (they used a line from a Kraftwerk tune in Talk)

On their old coldplayer, the one that they put other band's music that they liked they had Kraftwerk, Aretha Franklin, Ryan Adams, Oasis, 50 Cent, and a bunch more but that's all I can remember right now.

Apple was born to Sigur Rós. Chris loves them especially.

 

They also love REM (Obviously), The Flaming Lips (They love their shows), Elton John, Jay-Z, and I've seen the guys wearing Joy Division shirts. They also love The Smiths. Jonny once said that Johnny Marr was his biggest influence. And of course Chris loves Ah-Ha. :D

dang. i wanted to be the nerd and tell the story about the Joy Division shirts. :dozey:

however. chris has got a At The Drive-In shirt as well. he obviously likes them then ;)

they like the strokes!? yess! i know chris loves bob dylan (the "simple twist" cover is amazing) and jonny cash and u2 especially and a bunch of others.

I believe Guy was from the jazz side and that kind of music.

Motown is also possible, that kind of music like james brown and stuff.

I believe it was guy, or jonny.
