the Formula One thread 2007

Pretty boring race, with a very predictable result. The mate i was watching it with fell asleep at one point. The only entertaining thing was Kovalainen's erratic driving.

I was also pretty bored by all the hype over Hamilton. Yeah sure he's young, talented and British but when every other sentence uttered by the ITV presenters contains the words Lewis and Hamilton, it gets quite irritating. Everyone the they spoke to, they had to get an opinion on Hamilton :dozey:

oh i can imagine.

i remember the hype over button when i lived in england. and he won the hungarian gp which made it even worse.

gotta love itvs champions league summaries. they show a summary of the game they already showed for about 25 minutes, then the second which was shown on itv granada or whatever its called and then they summarise the games of the non-british teams in about five minutes.

but hamiltons a great driver, its not his fault.

mhh...yeah, gotta keep one's feet on the ground.

still it was the FIRST race.

i really don't wanna make it sound harsh, but he's with McLaren. everyone expected a very good result. so... gotta wait and see what that Lewis guy really is able to do.

that makes it a lot harder for a newcomer though, innit?

this is actually quite random, but WTF? :shocked2:

Is that a real tattoo on Kimi's arm?!

i knew he had a smiling sun on his left wrist, but this one's rather... erm... big?!

think it's gonna be quite interesting to see what strategies McLaren and Ferrari are following.

hope Kimi will be able to overtake Alonso at the start... but he's gotta stay in front of Lewis Hamilton, who had an awesome start last race.

good that both Ferraris are on the clean side of the grid.

we'll see.

hope it's gonna be a lot more exciting than Melbourne, which was rather disappointing.

Haha. I stayed at a friends last night and slept from 6am till 8am. So my mind was away from the race, but I caught the last 4 laps, enough to see Lewis Hamilton hold off and keep Kimi out of the McClaren 1, 2.

Seems like a good kid.

Massa was pretty disappointing apparently, and by God, does Button need a new car or what?

Oh, and Kimi's tattoo was to commemorate him joining Ferrari, and Ferrari told all advertisers that if they disapprove of the tattoo, they can't market with Ferrari at all.

Owned.

McLarens were simply brilliant as team. both Ferraris got simply pwned at the start. Hamilton was amazing! young, but already more mature than Massa (see: Massa's huge mistake today) who's been in F1 for 3-4 years

Renaults are very disappointing atm... surprisingly, BWMs are good! especially Heidfeld

Yay McLaren! :) Nice to see them get their act back together.

It just occured to me... it was exactly 15 years ago that I was a Williams obsessed Nigel Mansell fan and Senna's McLaren was the evil nemesis I couldn't stand.

How times have changed. It's kind of sad not to see Williams at the top anymore.

was clearly a fuckin horrible race for a ferrari fan like me.

massa is such a dick.

first he overslept the start and then he made so many mistakes...

i don't even think that it was too stupid to try to overtake hamilton, but massa made the same mistake twice... i mean... how dumb is he actually?

and then he couldn't even get to overtake heidfeld.

the ferraris were okay. perhaps they should've tried to use the hard tires instead of the soft ones.

whatsoever.

kimi still did a good job and kept his position.

lewis hamilton is talented. hands down.

but i'm certain that mclaren mercedes still prefers alonso to win.

they just do.

he's not gonna win as long as fernando is right behind him.

fuck this.

i'm so disappointed in felipe massa.

he started the season 2006 with many mistakes, too and got better during the season.

guess he just wanted to prove to the team that he's the new number one. he was way too aggressive.

heidfeld and rosberg (gotta talk about them germans) did great!

heidfeld (BMW Sauber) obviously is the one to bet on after ferrari and mclaren.

he's the only one who could compete with them... well kinda.

too bad rosberg retired.

the interview right after his retirement was so funny.. "i could cry now... blah~ i drove my arse off for it."

renault is not competetive at all.

flavio briatore blaims his drivers, but nahh... the car seems to be very sucky.

i wonder what they did last winter. this might be giancarlo's last season because he cannot show what he's able to do.

honda is getting worse and worse.

even super aguri is faster than button and barrichello.

it's got a bit embarrassing.

they had an awesome season three years ago... and constantly got worse ever since.

man, i just miss michael so much.

f1 is so different without him.

how rude was ron dennis btw? he blanked kimi like he didnt know the guy.

if fernando does that stupid celebration dance once again... aaaaaah.

just...die, alonso.

f1-2007-mal-xp-1412.jpg

Massa, Hamilton, Kimi, Alonso.

Massa wins

Hamilton second with 3 seconds back. Another podium!

Kimi third, Heidfeld fourth holding Alonso fifth. Bad race for him.

In other news:

Coulthard was brilliant and the commentators repeatedly said "Coulthard is on fire!" until unfortunately, he actually was.

Button lasted the grand total of 4 corners, but I didn't see that incident so I can't comment on it properly. Ah well.

3rd, 2nd, 2nd for Lewis. First driver ever to podium his first 3 races?

Oh, and 3 drivers tied for 1st in drivers. Hamilton, Alonso, Raikkonen on 22. Massa is at 17.

Button lasted the grand total of 4 corners, but I didn't see that incident so I can't comment on it properly.

Well he and Speed crushed and broke their cars.

Hamilton really impresses me.. I never thought he would be able to drive that well!

I've seen better races though

was an okay race in my opinion.

i rather see kimi on the middle of the podium, but another ferrari driver is okay, too.

hehehe.

i expect an extremely exciting season after three races.

ferrari and mclaren mercedes are close, of course, but bmw (especially nick heidfeld) is able to keep the pace. so impressive when he overtook alonso (okay, he obviously had some problems).

lewis hamilton is a cool talented bloke.

too bad he's driving for mclaren :sneaky: .

whatever.

there was a big interview with him in today's newspaper and he seems to be very nice.

he said he hasn't had any champagne yet because he wants to wait with that until he won his first race.

he's got 22 points now, which actually makes him third, but... woah... he could totally win the championship this year! :shocked2:

i'm still backing ferrari, though

and i'm sure they're gonna strike back in barcelona in .... 4 WEEKS!!!!

:P

i want such a pic every weekend.

z1176649216.jpg

Massa looked delighted when he won. Kimi just didn't haha. And Alonso! Alonso looked like he'd been shot.

indeed, but Kimi's always been like that.

guess he deserves his nickname.

f1-2007-bah-xp-1084.jpg

i think alonso will win and yet i've just gotten into formula 1 so i could be wrong.
