Featured Replies

so...i'll turn 16 on thursday.

reason enough for my mum to bust the bomb and tell me that i should start working.

lol. she said that it would be a nice experience for me and blah blah blah~.

however... .

she does not force me, but i know she wants to get rid of me.

hahaha.

well, it's just a minijob after all and i'll probably have to work for only 10 hours/week.

the bad thing is that i'm sure i'm gonna work on saturdays. so i'll miss the f1 qualifying...argh.

soo...what about you?

what minijobs did you have when you were a teenager?

i thought about working in a clothes shop..., but that's what everyone else is doing. don't mind about the job actually..., but working as a waitress might be quite fun, too.

I might get a job next year, when I turn 16.

I've always wanted to work at a bookstore. It seems like fun. I'm a total bookworm, so I'll get a kick at looking at all the books. :P

I used to work for my dad, helping out at his garage.

Then moved onto working at a cattery, to get the pounds in.

you dont necerssarily miss the qualifying. what about private lessons, which could be during the week after school?

i once did give private lessons, but that won't let me earn a lot of money. ;)

well i earned 30sfr. (about 18 euro) in 45 minutes which is quite a lot.

I've been working at a supermarket since about my 15th birthday, which was in November.

I work 13 hours a week permanently (although the bastards usually ring me up and ask me to work more hours).

my sister wants me to work in a supermarket,too... well, actually in hers.

she's jobbing in that one supermarket and said she could easily make her boss like me :)

and i'd also earn more money compared to other places.

but i just don't want to work with my sister. she's been there for years now and i don't like the atmosphere in that supermarket... :\

Yeah, I got screwed over because there are a large amount of shops which are all part of a shopping chain and so if you sign up for one, then you've signed up for all of them and then I got a call from Woolworths (supermarket) and couldn't really refuse.

I hate the atmosphere of supermarkets too, and there really are a lot of things you have to learn, especially working on check-outs. But all my co-workers are cool and sometimes I serve some really 'interesting' customers who can make my day a tiny bit better.

its quite easy to find a job in a call centre. its incredibly boring though.

weeh, that's the bad thing about shopping chains. :stunned:

and that supermarket is in a very dodgy environment as well... dunno.

they make you do a lot of things, yeah, and you have to learn many things, but that's why they pay one better than a clothes shop for example.

sally, i don't really think that someone would want me in a call centre since i rol the "R" in a very stupid way. :dozey: everytime i say "drei" on the phone they understand "zwei". ...

I am 17 and had 3 jobs thus far in my life, I was a busperson at a golf course, then I was a hostess at a restaurant, then I sold shoes at Journeys, I am now unemployed, and need a job desparately, I am considering returning to the hostess job, but I dont think I could take it because I cant stand the trash people I worked with. Money, or dignity?

Most definitely dignity.........................

Most definitely dignity.........................

Thats what I was thinking, but not having money where you need it is almost as stressful as the job itself.

I live in a small village....so there was not much left to choose....there were not many possibilities...

so I took this newspaper-round which sucks actually (esp. in this rainy weather....:dozey:) and that job in a bakery van which is quite fun......the only thing that sucks there is that I have to get up quite early on saturdays....that can be really annoying sometimes......but besides that it is an interesting job...

I do not earn THAT much money.....but it is enough for me

Aww how come you quit Journeys? :(

I'm 17 now and finished school. I'm unemployed and looking for a job. But jobs want experience and you can't get experience without a job  *sigh* I keep looking though! How very optimistic of me!

I wanted to get one when I was still in school but Dad wouldn't let me because he wanted me to concentrate on school. I guess he was right.

yeah i've had 3 so far. i've worked as a chemist delivery boy, which payed terrible then in a chocolate shop and now in a cool ice cream (gelato) store. its good fun, all the other workers are around my age so its awesome fun, and i get to put on my ipod into the store speakers and wear whatever shorts or pants and shoes i want

i've only ever had 2 jobs in my so far sweet 20 years on earth :D

my very first job was at a bakery in new zealand. i did a whole lot and i love it. it was so enjoyable, not even work, but that only went on for the summer break so after 2 months i returned to australia.

my current job doing very similar duties is at a place called the coffee club. the people are great, customers are delighful and the overall atmosphere is cool. i don't need the money but since switiching unis and courses, i felt like i needed a change of scenery and events and my workmates are fabulous people.

Well it was a seasonal job, My best friend had worked there for a year before me, and I was doing a favor for her manager, because she needed christmas help, but I basically had the option to stay, If I did really well, I could have stayed, but I purposly slacked and did shitty, because I only worked with 3 other people, because Journeys doesnt need alot of people, I mostly had to work with my manager , I would have stayed if she had not scheduled me to work with her so much.. anyway, my boss was only about a year older than I was, and she liked to mess with my relationships with my friends and I, and she was super minipulative, and a shady person. I have truly never met a person that was as wicked as she was, she would do anything to make her self look superior, she was very fake, and looked like an anime charectar.. hahah..

But I realllllllllly would have liked the job under different circumstances.

Its really the perfect high school job, but my friendships are more important to me than a silly job, I think that in time she would have achieved her goal and put a rift in between my BFFE and I.

yep, actually that's what I did when I was a student and I'm still doing it today. I'm "teaching" german and english to 3 kids (they're between 9 and 12 years old, haha :nice: ) and it's quite fun.

I'm earning more or less 200 euro a month. not that much, but oh well...

plus, I decided I'd like to become a teacher - hehe. :cheesy:

Oh I see now....yeah that manager doesn't seem very nice. >.<

I want to work at the Tropical Smoothie across the street.

I turn 16 next month, but I've been trying to convince my parents to let me get a job forever! Tired of asking them for money.
