What I don't get is: (1) Why, if she's the heiress to the Hilton fortune, ..why is she making porn, and (2) If she's filthy rich, then why not just have a limo service? Does wealth and power make people dopey?:dozey:

Oh well, another book/video deal. Paris does jail..:laugh3:

Yep.

Well, the news has used this Paris Hilton horse shit to cover for something else happening in the US.

Ed Brown, a tax protester who has threatened to use force to defend himself against authorities, has had his home surrounded by military and swat teams....

The authorities have been telling reporters that they would not violently engage the Brown family for the past few months but this now appears to be the case.

It's hardly on the news over there - and Paris Hilton is.

FEDs have said they are not raiding the house but spy drones were spotted over the Brown house last night and even then they feared this might happen. It could have been a major martial law intimidation tactic and test - or it could be a full scale Federal seizure of the home.

The latest from Ed Brown's online blog: "apparently this was a test by the "authorities" to see what kind of response would come from the community......testing to see what might happen if they move in......."

That's WAY off topic, but Paris IS the cover.

.....Just something I've been following for a while, I'm sure nobody here has a clue who or what I'm even talking about.

I read this on a forum:

Turns out, she was not 'released,' she was reassigned...confined to her home for the next 40 days, with electronic monitoring. She was credited for five days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) with the remaining 40 days being served as a home confinement.

The sheriff's department says that there was some medical issue that played into the decision, along with what her crime was (parole violation for a suspended license), and he also hinted that the media/photo/attention component also complicated things greatly and played into the decision - all for which they deemed that her serving the remainder at home would be suitable. He said the decision has to be rooted in what they're doing, NOT what the public would think. He said the privacy issues related to medical matters mean they cannot discuss it, with reporters badgering the sheriff's department rep about it.

Either way, even had she been released, I wouldn't berate her or her fans about it. They didn't make the call here. The LA county sheriff's department and medical advisers did. They deemed that justice, all things considered, could be served in a means different than what was originally decided.

Paris Hilton is not the first, nor the last person, celebrity or not, to be dealt with this way from a small jail sentence, for what it's worth...this is not really an injustice here.

parishiltonAP0406_228x285.jpgParis Hilton is reportedly a free woman after spending just three days in jail

Paris Hilton will wake up this morning in her £10,000 mirrored four-poster bed after being released from prison just 72 hours into her 23-day sentence.

Fears that the hotel heiress was on the brink of a mental breakdown reportedly spurred the decision by officials to cut short her stay at LA's tough women's jail.

She struck a deal that she would serve 45 days of home detention rather than the 23 nights she would have spent in jail. That falls to 40 days because of the time she has already spent in prison.

She will no longer have to wear the standard issue orange prison jumpsuit. The only memento she will retain from her time behind bars is an extra item of jewellery - an electronic ankle bracelet to ensure she doesn't stray from her £3million mansion in the Hollywood Hills.

Last night Hilton released a statement thanking LA sheriff's department and the jail "for treating me fairly and professionally".

She added: "I am going to serve the remaining 40 days of my sentence."

But critics blasted the "celebrity justice" and insisted she was only set free because she is famous.

Hilton, 26, was locked up for driving her Bentley without a licence, which was a violation of her probation terms for a drink-driving offence. At her sentencing, the judge insisted she should not receive any special treatment.

Yet after only three days inside, she was allowed to leave the Century Regional Centre in Lynwood in the early hours of yesterday following two visits from her Beverly Hills psychiatrist Dr Charles Sophy.

sheriffL0706_468x261.jpgLos Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. spokesperson Steve Whitmore said Hilton had be 'reassigned,' and will carry out the rest of her sentence from home

She was driven home by her lawyer after securing the agreement that she would remain under house arrest.

LA sheriff's department spokesman Steve Whitmore said that Sunday - when Hilton spent most of the evening at the MTV Movie Awards before checking into jail after 10.30pm - and yesterday, when she was released before 1am, were both counted as days off her total 45-day punishment.

He said Hilton was allowed to go home after "extensive consultations with medical personnel over three or four days".

He refused to reveal details, but Hilton - who had been in isolation for her own safety - had been heard crying hysterically on the prison payphone, complaining she hadn't been able to eat or sleep and that her 12ft x 8ft cell was "freezing cold".

One report suggested she had "cracked under the pressure of prison". Citing sources close to Hilton's family, the TV show Entertainment Tonight reported on its website that she had developed a rash on her body.

Los Angeles County detention facilities, like many jails around the U.S., are known to have problems controlling outbreaks of staphylococcus infections, which can cause rashes.

But Mr Whitmore said this was not an issue in Hilton's case.

He denied the socialite had been given special treatment, but equal rights campaigners claimed prison officials had been "played like a puppet on a string" by Hilton and her legal team.

Al Sharpton, firebrand civil rights leader, said: "There are any number of cases of people who handle being incarcerated badly and even have health conditions that are not released.

"This act smacks of the double standards that many of us raise."

Steve Remige, president of the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, said: "There appears to have been preferential treatment. On any given day, a thousand female inmates are in custody.

"Why is one case, out of the blue, treated any different to them?"

The ankle bracelet will alert police if Hilton tries to leave her home. If she does so without permission, she will be hauled back in front of the judge and her sentence will be doubled.

PARIS IS GOING BACK TO JAIL!!! MAYBE!!!

2399-paris10.jpg

Paris Hilton has been ordered back into court Friday morning at 9am when city prosecutors will argue that sheriff Lee Bacca did not have the authority to release Hilton from jail on Thursday.

When Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer sentenced Paris to 45 days in jail last May, he specifically ruled that Paris was not allowed any work release, furloughs, use of an alternative jail or electronic monitoring in lieu of jail.

Sheriff Bacca ignored this and set Paris up with a electronic monitoring system. The city attorneys office will argue that the sheriff violated the judges orders. If the judge agrees, Paris will be put back in jail.

And the judge in the new hearing probably will agree with Judge Sauers original ruling because the judge in the new hearing is Judge Sauer. The AP says:

The celebrity inmate was sent home from the Los Angeles County jail's Lynwood lockup shortly after 2 a.m. in a stunning reduction to her original 45-day sentence.

She had reported to jail Sunday night after attending the MTV Movie Awards in a strapless designer dress.

She was ordered to finish her sentence under house arrest, meaning she could not leave her four-bedroom, three-bath home in the Hollywood Hills until next month.

City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo complained that he learned of her release the same way as almost everyone else — through news reports.

Then, late Thursday, he filed a petition questioning whether Sheriff Lee Baca should be held in contempt of court for releasing Hilton — and demanding that she be held in custody.

Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer's decision to haul Hilton back to the courtroom came shortly after.

Man this judge is awesome. He’s like a one man army. Paris better watch her ass or this dude will sentence her to 40 years on Monster Island.

I got news from Yahoo 1 hour ago.....

LOS ANGELES - She was taken handcuffed and crying from her home. She was escorted into court disheveled, without makeup, hair askew and face red with tears.

Crying out for her mother when she was ordered back to jail, Paris Hilton's cool, glamorous image evaporated Friday as she gave the impression of a little girl lost in a merciless legal system.

"It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton. "Mom!" she called out to Kathy Hilton, who also was in tears.

The 26-year-old hotel heiress tried to move toward her parents but was steered away by two sheriff's deputies, who held her by each arm and hustled her from the courtroom.

Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer was apparently unmoved by the pleas of Hilton's lawyers to send her back to home confinement because of an unspecified medical condition. He ordered Hilton returned to a Los Angeles County jail to serve the rest of her 45-day sentence for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

The judge gave no explanation for his ruling. But his comments showed he was affronted by county Sheriff Lee Baca's decision to set aside his instructions and release Hilton after three days in jail to finish her time in the luxury of her Hollywood Hills home.

Her lawyers said the reason for her release was an unspecified medical condition. The judge suggested that could be taken care of at jail medical facilities.

After the hearing, Hilton was taken to a correctional treatment center at the downtown Twin Towers jail for medical and psychiatric examination to determine which facility she will be held in, said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.

"She'll be there for at least a couple of days," he said.

The sheriff defended his decision, citing jail crowding — although Hilton was in a special unit and did not have a cellmate — and what he termed "severe medical problems."

He said he had learned from one of her doctors that she was not taking a certain medication while previously in custody, and that her "inexplicable deterioration" puzzled county psychiatrists.

Baca also charged that Hilton received a more severe sentence than the usual penalty for such a crime, which he said would have been either no jail time or direct placement in home confinement with electronic monitoring.

"The only thing I can detect as special treatment is the amount of her sentence," the sheriff said.

But he said he would not try to overrule the judge's decision again.

Hilton's jailhouse saga began Sept. 7, when she failed a sobriety test after police saw her weaving down a street in her Mercedes-Benz on what she said was a late-night hamburger run.

She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines. In the months that followed she was stopped twice while driving on a suspended license. The second stop landed her in Sauer's courtroom.

After being taken to court Friday in a black-and-white police car, paparazzi sprinting in pursuit and helicopters broadcasting live from above, Hilton entered the courtroom weeping and continued to cry throughout the hearing, which lasted more than an hour.

Her blond hair was pulled back in a disheveled knot, in contrast to the glamorous side-swept style in her booking photo earlier in the week. She was wrapped in a long, gray fuzzy sweat shirt over slacks.

Several times she turned to her parents, seated behind her in the courtroom, and mouthed, "I love you." At one point, she made the sign of the cross and appeared to be praying.

Her body shook constantly as she cried, clutching a ball of tissue, tears running down her face.

Seconds later, the judge announced his decision: "The defendant is remanded to county jail to serve the remainder of her 45-day sentence. This order is forthwith."

Hilton screamed.

Eight deputies immediately ordered all spectators out of the courtroom. Hilton's mother, Kathy, threw her arms around her husband, Rick, and sobbed uncontrollably.

Deputies escorted Hilton out of the room, holding each of her arms as she looked back.

Despite being reincarcerated, she could still be released early. Inmates are given a day off their terms for every four days of good behavior, and her days in home detention counted as custody days. It appeared that Friday would count as her sixth day. Baca indicated she would serve about 18 more days.

Friday's hearing was delayed by a misunderstanding. Hilton apparently thought she was going to be able to participate from home by telephone. But the judge, who had not authorized that, angrily denounced a media outlet for spreading the rumor, although a court spokesman also gave that information to news media. He ordered sheriff's deputies to go to Hilton's home and take her to court. The process took nearly two hours.

Once the hearing began, Sauer was blunt in his criticism of the sheriff for disobeying his orders, which specifically banned home confinement with electronic monitoring.

"I at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff and at no time told him I approved the actions," he said. "At no time did I approve the defendant being released from custody to her home."

The hearing was requested by the city attorney's office, which had prosecuted Hilton and wanted Baca held in contempt for releasing Hilton despite Sauer's order that she go to jail. The judge didn't act on the contempt request.

Hilton's attorney, Richard Hutton, implored the judge to hear testimony in his chambers about Hilton's medical condition before deciding whether to send her to jail. The judge did not respond.

The last lawyer to speak was a deputy city attorney, David Bozanich, who declared: "This is a simple case. There was a court. The Sheriff's Department chose to violate that order. There is no ambiguity."

And also yesterday :D

LOS ANGELES - The circus that follows Paris Hilton almost everywhere was out in full force Friday at Superior Court here, with hangers-on toting signs and dancing jigs before the judge's ruling to return her to jail reduced most to stunned silence.

"Oh no," "Melrose" Larry Green muttered softly, shaking his head at the news that the celebutante was heading back to the slammer for violating her probation on a reckless driving conviction.

"People are just jealous of her because her name is Hilton, and she's part of the Hilton hotels," the local eccentric and supporter of offbeat causes had said a couple hours earlier.

"I love the Hilton hotels, especially the one in New York," said Green, an occasional guest on Howard Stern's radio show.

The ruling by Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer also had its supporters.

"I think justice was served," civil-rights activist Najee Ali said. "It helps restore the public confidence that was eroding nationally with the star-struck judicial system."

At the same time, Ali expressed sympathy for the star of TV's "The Simple Life."

"This is not a time to celebrate. It is a time to pray for her and her family," he said.

Earlier, news helicopters buzzed Hilton's Hollywood Hills home and paparazzi swarmed a sheriff's patrol car as the sobbing, handcuffed heiress was placed inside and driven to the court.

Inside the courtroom, Hilton's hair was askew and she wore no makeup. She cried throughout the hearing.

Outside, Hilton defenders were outnumbered by TV crews and other journalists who swarmed the courthouse just a day after the Sheriff's Department released her for an undisclosed medical reason.

At times it was hard to separate supporters from wannabe stars and promoters of films and TV shows.

Some people handed out T-shirts for the celebrity Web site TMZ.com, and a plane flew overhead towing a banner proclaiming, "We love Paris."

One person claiming to be a Hilton supporter turned out to be a writer for the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show. He screamed "no, no, no" after learning Hilton was going back to jail.

Several people who appeared with Hilton in episodes of "The Simple Life" also showed up.

Among them was Joey Carmona, who said the heiress inspired him to lose 30 pounds when she paid a visit to a weight-loss camp as part of the show.

"She supported us on that show, and we're here to support her now," he said before the start of the hearing.

Carmona wouldn't say whether he thought Hilton had been treated fairly by the judicial system or should be returned to jail.

"That's really not for me to say," he said.

Another supporter, Arlene Hampton, held a sign with a photograph of herself and the heiress and the words: "Prayn4U. Love, Arlene."

"She was very supportive, very open and very personable," when she visited the weight-loss camp, Hampton said.

Moses Baltazar, who was there hoping to clear up a traffic ticket, wasn't in Hilton's camp.

He said the hotel heiress only tipped him a dollar when he worked as a valet, even though he went to the trouble of keeping paparazzi away from her.

He said he felt Hilton should be returned to jail.

"Driving like that, you have to behave," said Baltazar, 20. "If you're rich, you have money, you have to respect yourself."

Judge puts tearful Paris behind bars again

By DAVE GARDNER - More by this author » Last updated at 20:48pm on 8th June 2007 commentIconSm.gif Comments (59)

Paris Hilton is back behind bars just a day after being freed early from prison.

The hotels heiress was taken from the courtroom to the cells screaming and crying and shouted out: "It's not right."

She had originally been sentenced to 23 days in a tough women's jail.

But she was released after just 72 hours amid fears that she was on the brink of a mental breakdown.

The 26-year-old socialite was told she would instead be kept under house arrest for 45 days at her £3million Hollywood Hills compound.

Judge Michael Sauer, who originally jailed her for flouting a drink-driving ban, had ruled Hilton should not receive special treatment.

parishiltonAP0406_228x285.jpgParis Hilton has been ordered back to court and could face jail again

And hours after she was freed he ordered her to appear before him in Los Angeles yesterday. He ignored her lawyer's pleas and ordered she serve out the full 45 days in custody.

Lee Baca, the sheriff responsible for the LA prison system, was also forced to explain why he had approved the home custody deal.

Court officials had said Hilton would be allowed to phone into the court rather than appear in person.

But when Judge Sauer heard the news, he told police to bring her to him in handcuffs.

Hilton started her short jail term on Sunday and was released on Thursday with an electronic ankle bracelet to monitor her movements while under house arrest.

Jerry Brown, California's attorney general, said he believed she should serve out her sentence in prison.

"It does hold up the system to ridicule when the powerful and the famous get special treatment," he added.

"I'm sure there's a lot of people who've seen their family members go to jail and have various ailments, physical and psychological, that didn't get them released."

CameraPeopleAP_468x302.jpgUnder siege: The media scrum besiege heiress Paris Hilton's mansion

Mr Baca dismissed the criticism, saying his decision had been based on medical advice.

"It isn't wise to keep a person in jail with her problem over an extended period of time and let the problem get worse," he said before yesterday's hearing.

"My message to those who don't like celebrities is that punishing celebrities more than the average American is not justice."

The LA County jail system is so overcrowded that it is not unusual for non-violent offenders such as Hilton to be released after serving as little as a tenth of their sentences.

Hilton's path to jail began last September, when police saw her weaving down a street in her Mercedes on what she said was a late-night run to a hamburger stand.

She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months of probation, alcohol education and £750 in fines.

In the months that followed she was stopped twice in her car by officers despite the fact she had been banned from driving.

The second stop landed her in Judge Sauer's courtroom, where he sentenced her to jail.

Various media reports are saying that Paris Hilton has gone to the USC Medical Center.

This is the hospital used by LA County Jail. Sources inside the courtroom at her sentencing say Paris was visibly shaking and seemed to be in need of medical care.

In a related story, I basked in my freedom by enjoying a snow cone. Then I picked some flowers, hit a game winning home run, and kissed a beautiful girl as the waves crashed around us.

UPDATE - Hilton has, in fact, been taken to the Twin Towers medical facility, not USC.

Twin Towers consists of two towers, a medical services building, and the Los Angeles County Medical Center Jail Ward. The towers, which have been constructed using an efficient Panoptic design, to house maximum security inmates and a large portion of the county's mental health inmates. The Medical Services Building provides inpatient housing for inmates with various levels of acute medical and mental health needs.

Paris will stay at this facility for the weekend. Various reports say a huge party was planned at Hilton's home in the Hollywood Hills this weekend to celebrate her early release. This will be different from that.
