I love them both! :D

^Thanks for sharing those. That's more Genesis, right? I've been meaning to give them a serious listen. Just as a word of caution: we're not supposed to post direct download links in the WoM, so next time you should either PM them, or post them in Multimedia. :)

Welle i've never listened to any Blackfield stuff (not that I don't want to, but I don't have any), and I could ask you guys to upload some for me but my computer's hard drive is totally full at the moment. Maybe later when I have made some room on it...

I think they don't fall into the category, but rather fit in the category, you know, there is so much more in Pink Floyd than prog rock.

cheers thanks for the clearing that up :)

i see i'm lacking in the prog rock department must enlighten myself.

Can you not move it, Sir Mod?:wink3:

I had no idea this thread existed!! It made my night. ANyone who's seen the Genesis thread knows I'm a huge prog fan...silly me, thought I was introducing PT to the board a couple of weeks ago, lol.

I'm listening to S.C.I.E.N.C.E. by Incubus, atm, and I'm almost thinking they qualify, odd as that sounds. Thoughts?

Well I don't know S.C.I.E.N.C.E, but I advise you to listen to their The Odyssey. It's been released split into 4 on the Halo 2 Original Soundtrack (Vol. 1) and if you gather them together, you get a 27-minute mindblowing progrock piece. I really love it. (there are two tributes to Pink Floyd inside it !!)

Nah i wouldn't count tool as prog-rock actually.

Tool? Not really. Although, their elaborate arrangement and lyric structure could get them labeled 'prog metal'. I've heard that term used.

Nah they are not even metal..

If you want a proper metal band,i.e death, you can't go past Cannibal Corpse, and of course Carcass,Obituary and the list goes on and on!!

Well, they've been categorized as Nu Metal, but they're certainly not Death Metal. Compared to most DM I've heard, Tool are Folk music, lol.

No they are not nu-metal at all,some nu-metal bands are Disturbed,KoRn,Coal Chamber,SlipKnot,Godsmack(not all albums),Soulfly,System of a down.

Oh and I also like Folk Metal....bands such as Finntroll and Ensiferum are good examples of the genre...

I didn't know there was such a genre. I'll have to look into it. Sounds like something I might like.

Someone was talking about Blackfield earlier in the thread (Steve Wilson's side project) , I like them, but i think Porcupine Tree are better. I dont know, it just seems like someone else is writing the lyrics, and Wilson is singing it for them - although i do like quite alot of their songs.
