The Simpsons MOVIE

Featured Replies

I'm excited!

Always been a fan of The Simpsons and haven't met one person who hasn't at least heard of the show. The movie comes out in Australia this Thursday but it will hit most countries on Friday  For the first time in a long time, I'm excited about a movie!

Hey yeah,im gonna see it as soon as it comes out!!!!!

I'm seeing it Friday evening

Some people were talking about it on BBC News 24 earlier on (in between news of the flooding) and they said it contains an awful lot of funny parts.

I'm looking at a midnight showing here...I used to be a rather extreme Simspons nerd back in the day. To be honest, it's rather embarrassing.

20:30 for me. The local cinema isn't going OOT like it did with Harry Potter, therefore it hasn't got many showings.

Same here. In fact I still sort of am, however the recent episodes haven't really come across as funny as the earlier episodes did...and still do!

"...an awful lot of funny parts..." haha well it better! I haven't watch an episode that didn't tickle my funny bone :laugh3: Homer is just so............................................................Homer.

I see it on Thursday night and plan to take my dad. We're both still quite into the Simpsons, how can anyone not be?! :D

Promise to self - finish reading the Harry Potter books.

..nah i reckon the recent episodes are still as funny as the older ones..

^i've talked to people who think that as well, others reckon their latest stuff is way funnier so everyone has their own opinion. apparently they changed the writers last season but i wouldn't know for sure but anyway one thing we all agree on is it's funnnnnny

2 more days to gooooooooooooooooooooo!

"Woo hoo!"

The movie is written by the old writers. Recent episodes of the simpsons ain't been as funny as season 8.

The universe of "The Simpsons" — outlandish, yellow and absent of normal human growth — has sketched with parodying perfection the struggle of family life, the exploitation of a neighbor's good will and the bizarre qualities of school bus drivers, to name just a few of its accomplishments.

In one of its greatest episodes, about Prohibition, Homer's concluding toast demonstrated how the animated series could be as damning as it was hilarious: "To alcohol, the cause and solution to all of life's problems!"

"The Simpsons Movie" arrives a decade after that 1997 episode, and long after its glory days. Not to sound too much like the Comic Book Guy, but the Fox sitcom, which once brilliantly satirized TV's conventions, has gradually settled into its own ruts — which usually entails Homer acting silly for silliness' sake.

After 18 seasons on television, the much-anticipated big-screen debut of "The Simpsons" feels purposeless — as if creator Matt Groening finally thought: "Well, we might as well."

The movie quickly revels in lampooning itself. Ralph Wiggum crawls over the opening 20th Century Fox logo. An "Itchy and Scratchy" segment then plays out before revealing the Simpsons family watching, seated in a movie theater.

The Simpsons turned crap at season 9. Their greatest episodes were in seasons 2 & 3. Thank god they got their old writers in the for the movie. I'm seeing it tomorrow, yay!!!

ahhh still reflecting over the movie! i saw it last night and it is SO GOOD!

hilarious from start to finish. i couldn't stop laughing! seriously, one of the funniest films i've seen for long time. all the sessions for the 26th were sold out so i was lucky my friend and i purchased our tickets the day before.

anyway if you are a fan of the show - see it!

and it you aren't - see it anyway!

10/10 for sure :D

I saw it last night as well, and it was pretty freaking amazing. Best movie of the summer IMO. It was very, very funny. It even had some sentimental and heartfelt moments too. Overall, I loved it! I'd also give it a 10/10.

(top of the page dance!)

absolutely loved it. the laughed more in the first half hour than i have at any movie in a while. say what you will about the show, but the writing staff is still one of the best in the business.

9.5/10

Very funny film indeed.

Bart: This is the worst day in my life

Homer: No, it's the worst day in your life so far

"What kind of idiot would pay for something we can get for free, on TV?"

:laugh3: classic!

Lisa: "I want to stay until it says no animals were harmed during the making of this movie"

*Credits show "No animals were harmed during the making of this movie"*

Homer: Good, let's go.

too funny!

Ned Flanders: The Good Lord is telling me to confess to something...

Homer Simpson: Gay gay gay gay gay gay

i think by now the simpsons movie has been released all over the world. you know how you can put bids on large posters from upcoming movies at the cinemas, well i got a bid for this enourmous homer poster & when i went back there on the 25th, maggie alone cost $100 with bart selling at $200. who knows what homer is going for?! no less than $400 is my guess. i do however have the cardboard stand-up of homer grabbing the donut so not all is bad...

I'm getting some posters hopefully from the sun newspaper's promotion.

However on the voucher they give you, the address field is so tidy.
