LOS ANGELES - Woo Hoo! "The Simpsons Movie" turned doughnuts into dollars over the weekend, raking in $71.9 million to debut as the top movie this week.

 

The big screen tale of the lovable, if dysfunctional, family rolled over the competition, sending last week's top movie, Universal Studio's "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," into second place with $19 million, a 44 percent drop.

 

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," from Warner Bros., fell to third place with $17.1 million, a 48 percent drop from last week. The film has grossed $242 million domestically after three weeks in theaters.

There's bits that make you laugh, but I mean... honestly, I laughed more at Die Hard 4 than I did in the Simpsons.

 

 

It was a huge disappointment for me. They put all the best bits in the trailers! So I'd already seen the funny bits by time I got in there.

 

It's the worst film I've seen at the cinema in a long time.

 

Rush Hour will be loads better.

the whole movie is full of funny bits imo, from start to finish. the reviews have been nothing but great, even from people who haven't watched the series :wink:

 

i find it hard to believe it's the worst film you've seen in ages and that it's rubbish, the latter is certainly not the case. oh well each to their own :cool:

It really was, in my opinion.

 

I didn't laugh out loud once. I smiled at a few things, like the boxer turning around to look for people before punching lower down. But I didn't laugh once.

 

They put all the best bits in the trailers, so I didn't find them funny when I saw them in the cinema.

 

I thought it was incredibly predictable. You could tell what was gonna happen at least 10 minutes before it did.

I watched it. It was really funny (to me...).

there were a lot of scenes that you can laugh only if you saw some episodes realted to that... I mean people who never watch it and then watch the movie won't laugh in some parts.

i admit some things may be lost in translation for some who aren't really fans of the series, or who haven't watched it enough to know the characters - but i loved it :wink:

I found the movie very funny. And many times I could relate it with some episode.

Don't forget everybody has his own sense of humor, so there's nothing to argue about whether the film was funny or not.

I had to choose to watch either Harry Potter 5 or the simpsons movie,i chose harry potter!!
