I'm Going to Europe for SIX WEEKS!!!

Featured Replies

I live in Atlanta and I have decided to take a trip to Europe for six weeks! I fly into Dublin in the last week of September. I am going to hit dublin, belfast, glasgow, edinburgh, london, oxford, paris, brussels, amsterdam, berlin, prague, vienna, budapest, innsbruck, munich, berne, milan, venice, florence, san marino, rome, bologna, genoa, monaco, marseille, barcelona, valencia, madrid, lisbon and then back to dublin.

Needless to say, I am pumped. Any tips on where to stay cheap, what to do, where to eat? Remember, cheap is the key! Thanks.

wow that sounds amazing!

you forgot about the north of england though :P

great to see you're coming to switzerland. bern's a lovely town

oh and thats where we stayed in barca:

thanks for the hostel information. i need as many hostel recommendations as possible. i heard the wombat in vienna is great.

do i need to book hostel rooms in advance? it is not going to be peak travel season as I understand, but i dont want to be stranded without an affordable place to stay. thanks.

it depends when you're going. there's usually rooms available but i'd book in advance to make sure you'll get a room. there are more busy times and you as an american might not be aware of this. many people might wanna visit a city because there is an important football game for example.

i found a youth hostel in bern. i havent been there myself but youth hostels in switzerland are generally alright. its a german website, feel free to ask me if there is something you dont understand.

thank you so much.

you forgot about Slovenia!! :P

however... i hope you'll have fun =)

Ah jealousy!

I can give you some advices for Berlin, as I visited my capital last month again...

Besides all these typical tourist signs you really have to explore the night-life in the districts of Kreuzberg (area with a lot of Turkish inhabitants), Friedrichshain (East-Berlin, up-and-coming neighbourhood with a lot of students) and... my favourite... Prenzlauer Berg (also East-Berlin, student area). Especially at Kastanienallee you'll find dozens of bars, pubs and clubs with low prices.

You also have to taste Berlin's typical food. In nearly every corner you will find "döner" or "dürüm döner". It's Turkish fast-food and is absolutely amazing! :D Another famous food is the typical "currywurst". There is a snack called "Konopke's Imbiß" at "Eberswalder Straße" tube station (line U2) where it's very delicious. If you want to eat good and big pizza for only 1,75€, go to Wichertstraße at Prenzlauer Berg.

By the way, the best thing you can do is to buy a daily travel card (6,10€) for Berlin's under- (U-Bahn) and overground (S-Bahn), buses and tramways (M-Bahn).

where should I visit in Ireland after I have done Dublin, before heading into Edinburgh?

also, what is the cheapest way to get around Ireland?

Sounds like a whirlwind trip! :stunned: Will you be traveling alone?

When ur in Bacelona go to Parc Guell and also visit a very nice and cheap pub called

The Republic House

On Psg St Joan 74… give the taxi driver the address…

sorry for asking in this thread but this might be useful for you as well:P

does anyone know a cheap place to stay in london?

(does such a thing even exist?)

There are cheap places in London, you just got to look off the beaten track.
