October 20, 200718 yr Well, based on that video clip, I'd say he has nothing... The chords are different. The tune does get progressively lower in both songs, but in a different way. The one real similarity is that both songs use two phrases with eight syllables, making the lyrics interchangeable between the two songs. Anyone who has had to study meter (rhythm) in poetry class could tell you why that would happen, and that it happens all the time. 8 syllables (4 metrical feet) creates a stable pleasing line of poetry or song with a whole range of possibilities for rhythm depending on which syllables are emphasized. It's pretty standard, and for a good songwriter it would be entirely subconscious. And actually, even the rhythm within the lines is different. I could see how on the surface someone who wasn't really listening and knew both songs could have their brains jumble the songs up, but I doubt that Chris has ever even heard his song.

October 21, 200718 yr i think if coldplay really did it, they will not shame to tell their fans. because they also told out they using someone's iff in Speed of Sound when they played in Storyteller...i think this guys just too boring Yeah that would be Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill". Fantastic song in itself, but Coldplay's own take on the synth melody is an incredible creation.

I bet there are a lot more of sounds alike songs than Clocks, which use the same melody! But they are not that successfull! I m sure, that Coldplay dont listen that kind of old music and like it that much that they stole a part of it! Its just an accident! And i heard many times songs which sound like Coldplaycovers! Its absoulut absurd!
