if this is plagiarisms then 'Pieces' - Sum 41 is plagiarism of 'The Scientist'. And there is also 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' - Greenday which is similar to a U2 song, but i forget the name at the moment.

Woah, it's like listening to the same song! I'm so disappointed in Coldplay for digging through so many old songs to find a crappy one to copy off of.

this guy is a fuking wack job......but it does sound similar......the vocal melody.....damn ive been asking if people can get sued for using others vocal melody.....and i guess here's my answer....gotta change my vocals on my songs......lol

:shocked2::shocked2::shocked2::shocked2:OMG its nothing like clocks, what are people on about, don't listen to some crazy old guy :angry::angry: he is probably broke and trying to cash in on a big name, :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

I just watched the video

:laugh3:

OMG that man has loots of free time

Yeah, absolutely!

Pieces (

) is just a ridiculously obvious copy of The Scientist, whereas that old guys song sounds absolutly nothing like Coldplay, maybe the poor old fellows got a new album out and fancies a bit of publicity or something!

Old Man - GO HOME! Your Village is missing their idiot.

i'm absolutely sure that none of the band members even heard this song before,or about this man at all.

there're lots of similar songs nowadays, everything is kinda keeps to be overplayed (sorry for my english, hope you understand what i mean :D )

Belachelijk

Waarom komt die Peter van Wood er nu pas mee ipv toen het een hit was ?:veryangry2:

Also check www.speed-of-sound.nl . I saw those gus and they were very good.

Plagiarism?

This guy is clearly nuts.. BUT, while I love Coldplay, the first two albums especially, I don't put it past Chris Martin to steal melodies and chord progressions.. Before you get mad at me, read what CHRIS SAID in an interview at Digg.com:

'Talking about the ways technology helps him he says "We can be working on something and go, 'We should steal this from Bloody Valentine and this from Rammstein and this from Jay-Z's first album...It's a plagiarist's paradise. We used to just be able to steal off Radiohead. Now we can steal from everybody." '

:\

^^

some part of that it's true..

I mean..

does anyone has the copyrights of chords of songs.. or style of music?

anyone does..

It's like A-HA come and say "Coldplay copied us"

of course the do.. (in the best way possible)

they used to/are inspire on your music..

This old man has not anything better to do..

and if you lock yourself in a room for the rest of your life and you listen

A.L.L the music that exists in this world (it's imposible.. i think)

of course that you'll find songs that have things in common..

and not for that the writers had stolen the melodies or the lyrics...

like Chris has said It's a plagiarist's paradise

If it really matters all that much, Clocks was the result of some errors I made while playing a keyboard set up in a music store in the Mall of America - pre-Christmas 1999 or 2000. I was trying to play a piece of YES's Wonderous Stories - 2/3 through - the lute solo. Couldn't get the right chord, so I kept travelling down in a series of chord progressions; which, when you added the synthesized components available, sounded pretty neat! Anyhow, Chris made up the lyrics on the spot, and then decided to go ahead with the tune.

Maybe we should go back to YES's members, and ask them where they got the lute part from?:laugh3: I mean, most music today is just variations on something older anyhow.. BTW - did Peter invent the wheel, and therefore deserves patent rights as well?

Sounds like a joke to me.

Someone tell me - I've looked at the Yes - Wonderous Stories video posted on You-Tube by orestes988, and about 2/3 of the way through Trevor Rabin plays a lute solo (least I think it's a lute!!). (+ he switches instruments along the line). If you give it a listen, you'll hear the source - I just couldn't quite get this part right (it's quite deceptive in its complexity). Still, it sounds a bit like they dubbed a keyboard part over the top of it as well. Does a lute really have that mellow a resonant tone if played a certain way??

  • 3 weeks later...

Here a video from that old weirdo: http://tv.repubblica.it/home_page.php?playmode=player&cont_id=13588

More about it: http://www.endandit.nl/muziek/2007/10/20/coldplay-pleegde-plagiaat-met-clocks (Dutch)

What a funny old man.. many.. many.. many songs are almost the same.. because it is very hard to make a song that is totaly new.. every song have a part that already exist.. but Coldplay that steals from that stupid old song?

I guess that they never heard about this old man..

Does he need money or something like that?

Well he stole that song from a Beethoven because there probably also one note is the same.. :P

i must say that the video is sooooooo convincing :laugh3:

Legality-wise, it's very hard to take someone to court over melody/chord progressions. Most of the time people sue over whether or not someone stole their lyrics. Millions of songs have probably been recorded by now, and considering music has a mathematical pattern behind it (what key you're playing in, etc) it's very hard to try and prove that someone heard your song and knowingly plaguarized the music and wasn't just following the musical key, especially if it's just the chords. It's not like you can really OWN the idea of a chord pattern, anyway. If the vocal melody AND the chords are extremely similiar to another song, then you could probably take it to court.

However, I listened to this song and couldn't believe this old fart actually thinks Chris Martin ripped him off. I highly doubt anyone in Coldplay has ever even heard of this guy or his song. It's ridiculous and I highly doubt he will get anywhere with his case.

:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:I still can't find anything similar between the two, stupid old man, crawl back into the crypt you came out of:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

My question now for that old fart is

"Why Now?"

"Why Now? "

After all this time Clocks has been out he says it now. What a fucking loser. He must have nothing better to do with with his boring, crap life and though. This is something i thought of to how he actually came up with the idea of stealing Clocks.

"Hey I know how to a few million in a short while. Ill just chose a random song and say that artist stole that song from me."At this point he switches on his T.V and it is on MTV : GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME(And of course Clocks is no.1)"Hmm, Whos this, ...... Coldplay Yeah Coldplay.Let me just right this down Coldplay, Clocks from the album A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE BED(hes partially blind from his old age).Hey funny title .Anyways ill get my money now hehehehehe. Ah Peter Van you old devil you."(more chuckles come the way until he wets himself.Diabetic problem)
