What Else Do You Hear In the Coldplay Songs

Featured Replies

hey i created this thread because yesterday i heard towards the end of "square one" a vocal melody......that i believe is chris martin....that was never picked up by my ear before. and also in we never change toward the ending where they do the last chorus part.....i believe jonny says something in the mic. I was just wondering if anybody else notices these things in other tracks. things that are really not noticeable

I just realised a special synth organ of some kind when the song fix you

gets going.

Who shakes the tambourine in I Ran Away? It starts a split second after Chris says "1,2,3, Will" and before Will starts doing his thang...

I can hear the word "computer" said faintly at the very end of Talk.

On the leaked version of talk right before chris starts to sing i hear someone say something like,"watch this" or something.its very faint but it is a voice.

o and i forgot the songs "for you".......where you can hear chris say "alright" and on the song "a whisper" where there is a break in the song and theres like a burp or some kind of evil voice....lol but its there

at the end of "help is round the corner" there's noise of traffic at the very end of the song, like wooshing cars and one honking. it took me AGES to realize this was there!

If you mean the "oooh!" in square one. then yes. I also noticed the voice in we never change. Towards the end I like to turn the volume up a tad to try to understand it (I never can), somehow that makes the song a little bit more intimate.

Let me think what else I've noticed....in yellow(parachutes version) I get the suspicion that during the chorus(and maybe some other parts too) there's a piano accompaniment going on. I know that Jonny plays the high guitar bits during that(with a hint of vibrato), and I could be dead wrong but that's just something I've noticed.

umm...easy to please is one song that, the more closely I listened, the more I discovered. first there's the distant sound of an argument or something going on. You keep turning the volume to understand the words(you can only catch one or two) but it's drowned out by the sound of passing cars and other sounds like in radiohead's bullet proof...I wish I was. After the first chorus it comes back again(right before the piano). and then, starting somewhere around the last chorus(it took me awhile to nitce this) there's what seems like a distant t.v with a newsman talking. I think the only word I could catch was "nashville" as in tennessee.

yea in yellow ive noticed the piano part in the chorus sounds kinda honky tonky-ish that piano selector from the diff keyboard sounds

Yeh I've heard the thing in 'We Never Change'.

In the leaked version of 'Talk', I believe Chris says "action" before he sings.

On the real version of Talk, I think there is a piano in the chorus that just plays chords.

And sometimes at the end of songs, if you have it up loud you can hear the studio noises of guitars creaking etc.

I love how they do that kinda stuff. I hope there are more in their next album!

I also have some radio audio thing where I'm guessing it'sChris, Jonny and Guy are playing live on radio (not Will).

They do the songs 'Don't Panic' and 'Trouble'. But they finish trouble early, cos people start clapping. And I think Jonny says 'They didn't let us finish' and Chris is like "shh!" and laughs.

It's really faint cos the radio guy starts talking and stuff and Jonny doesn't have a mic.

Nehu..kinda random and not on the albums, but i thought id mention it.

on For You you can actually hear the piano keys as they touch Chris' hands... kind of like the way keys make a sound when you type.....

^ Yes, that's such surreal sound!

^ Hahahha! I love that. Whenever listening to "Help is Round the Corner" I always turn up the volume at the end to hear the cars for some reason.

It just cracks me up...:D

"Murder" - What is that Tribal "aaah" at the beginning? Anyway, Chris says something at 2:24 in the song that almost sounds like "That's why all the Mafia..."

"The Hardest Part" - near the end with Jonny's arpeggio riff and Chris singing "yeah that's the hardest part" if you turn up the volume with GOOD headphones, you can hear the high-pitched squeak which is probably the plucking of Jonny's guitar's strings with his pick.

"'Til Kingdom Come" - at the end you can hear the shuffling of instruments or people.

"Amsterdam" - During this and many of the songs you can hear Chris breathe.

And sometimes at the end of songs, if you have it up loud you can hear the studio noises of guitars creaking etc.

Couldn't agree with you more! ;)

ive always thought it sounded like he says something like "i saw them walking..." though the mafia thing would fit the context of the song better.

also, at the very end of this song, there are a few extra piano notes after chris sings the word "hide."

now that theres a thread about this, i forget all the little studio noises i usually notice! theyre just so integrated into the songs in my head that i forget theyre there lots of times.

also, in "sleeping sun" at 00:08, right before the maracas come in, i think chris says "go" to will (if he's the one playing the maracas) to signal him in.

Even though this is really obvious and everyone knows about it; I can't get over the very beggining of 'I Ran Away' where Chris says '1, 2 ,3 , Will', I noticed he hangs on to the word 'Will', I nearly squeal everytime I hear it *faints*

Also in 1;36, towards the end you can hear Chris shouting "Yeah...yeah...yeah...yeah", and this is bit poff topic but 1;36 would be amazing to play live...

i think it was some random studio musician.....believe Will was playing the big drum you hear in the song.....maybe im not sure

i think its almost definitely multi-tracked. to my knowledge, most everything is! :) maybe im naive, but why the hell would they get a studio musician to play the maracas? i thought studio musicians were only brought in when the band couldnt play the instruments, like strings or whatever.

this is slightly off-topic, but ive always thought chris sounded very slightly congested on the album versions of "a message" and "swallowed in the sea."

now that you sed multi tracked you could be right....but no studio musicians arent brought in to because the guys can't play an instrument.....their brought for the lack of musicians in a recording session.....like how brian eno came in on low.....im sure all of the guys know how to play a synthesizer.....but i assume all of them was playing something already. so they prob got the idea of calling in a studio musician and Brian eno was like hey i would like to play for the track....and coldplay was like hey okay.....lol thas how i think the monologue went..

i have a version of "See you soon" and in one part... Chris sings..

"in a waterproof vest.. with the windows all closed I'll be doing my best I'll see you soon"

in the phrases "With the windows all closed" and "I'll see you soon"

I hear the voice of a woman..

a friend told me that it's Will's voice..

but for me it's a woman..

do anyone else have this version?

that's quite interesting.

i can hear Chris's breathing at Swallowed In The Sea , everytime he starts a line.

I haven't listened to Parachutes with headphones on before ... I know, I know, it's kind of odd not to listen to an album like that without headphones .... anyways, I listened to "We Never Change" and I noticed that little pump organ that they used for most of the album. It's right where he says, "making new friends would be easy." It kinda swells in and really adds some more body to the song, filling it out nicely.

It's also used in "Yellow" when the last chord is struck you can hear it ... I never really noticed these things before but it definately adds more to the songs.

that's quite interesting.

and I also can hear his breathing in "All good things (come to an end)" with Nelly Furtado.!

I heard that too! Jonny does say something

yes ! right at 3.46 !!!!

not sure if it's jonny who says that but i can hear a voice saying something !!!
