What Happens To Your Body If You Drink A Coke Right Now?

Have you ever wondered why Coke comes with a smile? It’s because it gets you high. They took the cocaine out almost a hundred years ago. You know why? It was redundant.

  • In The First 10 minutes: 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. (100% of your recommended daily intake.) You don’t immediately vomit from the overwhelming sweetness because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor allowing you to keep it down.
  • 20 minutes: Your blood sugar spikes, causing an insulin burst. Your liver responds to this by turning any sugar it can get its hands on into fat. (There’s plenty of that at this particular moment)
  • 40 minutes: Caffeine absorption is complete. Your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, as a response your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream. The adenosine receptors in your brain are now blocked preventing drowsiness.
  • 45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.
  • >60 minutes: The phosphoric acid binds calcium, magnesium and zinc in your lower intestine, providing a further boost in metabolism. This is compounded by high doses of sugar and artificial sweeteners also increasing the urinary excretion of calcium.
  • >60 Minutes: The caffeine’s diuretic properties come into play. (It makes you have to pee.) It is now assured that you’ll evacuate the bonded calcium, magnesium and zinc that was headed to your bones as well as sodium, electrolyte and water.
  • >60 minutes: As the rave inside of you dies down you’ll start to have a sugar crash. You may become irritable and/or sluggish. You’ve also now, literally, pissed away all the water that was in the Coke. But not before infusing it with valuable nutrients your body could have used for things like even having the ability to hydrate your system or build strong bones and teeth.

This will all be followed by a caffeine crash in the next few hours. (As little as two if you’re a smoker.) But, hey, have another Coke, it’ll make you feel better.

*FYI: The Coke itself is not the enemy, here. It’s the dynamic combo of massive sugar doses combined with caffeine and phosphoric acid. Things which are found in almost all soda.

Thats why I hate Coke....I'm a Pepsi drinker!

:P Yeah Pepsi is just as bad.....

I drank a can of coke yesterday for the first time in about two years - only because it was free from the takeaway!

I just drink sprite

Even the drinks you think are healthier like Five Alive and Frutopia are horrible for you.

yeahh but if we were worried about every thing that could be dangerous.. we wouldn't even go out of the house I guess

It's a good article on the downsides of cola.

open a can and pour it into a saucepan and boil it, then you will be shocked at the levels of sugar left in the saucepan

the problem is when people is addicted to this kind of stuff.. there's people who don't even drink water.. just coke.. and well that's really bad.. but if you get a can of coke once in a while I don't think it's too bad

I hear Shamy Winehouse is a big "Coke" fan..............................

No no no.

It is bad. They only reason people are drinking it is because....well....because people are drinking it.

It's only on the shelves all over because it's popular.

When you see the super huge rise in health problems like diabetes in the past few decades then you should get a sense of where this is going......dead people and lots of them.

As was pointed out earlier......even when people THINK they have switched to healthier alternatives, they haven't - most times.

Our toxic foods are making people stupid, causing massive social problems and making rich people even more money........while humanity slowly crumbles & ultimately dies.

I know that sounds like it might be an overstatement but in truth I think it's an understatement.

And back onto soft drinks - people who think "diet" coke etc. is better...then think again - it's worse. Aspartame!

Really, just stop eating/drinking bad, bad foods - and this includes 99% of soft drinks.

Which is why I drink this stuff:

Waterbottles.jpg

It's been proven that none of that stuff is any better than tap water, and is actually worse in some cases.

You know, he's actually right. I see a "touch of fruit bottle" there. Bad stuff.....Aspartame!

But yes, filtered water is best....

Just make sure you have a decent filter.

Like these...... http://www.berkeywater.com/

Fantastic.

You know, he's right.

:smug:

And what's more, all that plastic production is bad for the environment, and might even be bad for the water itself.;)

Yeah I heard about it on the radio the other morning, I forget what chemical it was exactly but its a big problem in baby bottles, our bottles, cds, and a whole bunch of other commonly found items.

And while sugar content in food is a HUGE problem that doesn't get enough attention so is the salt content in foods. Its disturbing how much salt is in our food, and what food it is in.

:smug:

And what's more, all that plastic production is bad for the environment, and might even be bad for the water itself.;)

Absolutely. I'm switching from plastic to glass. I don't know why we didn't just stick with glass in the first place...oh yeah, man's absolute inability to take the long view over short-term convenience.

Aspartame!

You seem quite knowledgable about this, and I've heard a few things about it but what is actually the deal with this?

I've heard it's bad and everything but I don't know anything else, like why or how.

Thanks.

i usually drink ribena, i doubt its healthier but it tastes better.

Basically Aspartame is used as an artificial sweetener in thousands of products.

Big companies and governments always state that it's fine for you and major newspapers/TV always back these studies while failing to mention ALL the other studies that point to aspartame causing health problems.

Numerous independent controlled studies (not ones conducted by corporations or government) using human subjects have concluded that aspartame is deadly. They are Camfield (1992), Elsas (1988), Gulya (1992), Koehler (1988), Kulczycki (1995), Spiers (1988), Van Den Eeden (1994), Walton (1993).........

The fact that "out of 90 independently-funded studies, 83 of them found one or more problems caused by aspartame. But out of the 74 studies funded by the aspartame industry (e.g., Monsanto, G.D. Searle, ILSI, etc.), every single one of them claimed that no problems were found?"

Having the federal government conduct studies that heavily impact profits of major corporations depending on the results and calling them independent is like Charles Manson being judged by Jeffrey Dahmer. In the 21st century of corporate fascism the two are inseparable from one another.

Futhermore, the FDA has been caught in the past removing negative data from government studies that indicated aspartame was dangerous to humans.

According to consumer rights group Mission Possible, "Since its 1981 approval, the FDA has published a list of 92 symptoms of aspartame poisoning, which includes headaches, vision loss including blindness, seizures, neurological problems, cardiovascular problems and death. The FDA admits adverse reactions to aspartame comprise about 80 percent of consumer complaints it receives each year."

Proponents of aspartame are like the idiots in the 50's who said there were no health dangers in smoking.

Moves by British parliamentarians and bills such as one in New Mexico in the US calling for the outright banning of aspartame in all foods should be supported and this poison-peddling industry shut down.

There is a film made about Aspartame called "Sweet Misery - A Poisoned World".....

Here...

Sweet Misery - A Poisoned World - Aspartame Cancer

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-566922170441334340

Excellent documentary showing how dangerous artificial sweetner Aspartame is. From its history, to its effects this video is enough to shock anyone into really looking at there food labels next time they shop. Aspartame is a toxic food that came into the world as an investment By Donald Rumsfeld, while ignoring the deadly effects the tests showed. Take a good look at this video, it could save lives.

Aspertame is evil. So is coffee whitener. It's cancer waiting to happen.

I'll try to watch that movie (or part of it) tonight.

And don't forget all the toxic colours and flavours... *grumble*

Basically only filtered water and peppermint tea for me... at least on any regular basis.

*edit* Oh, this is too good to let pass. Seriously. It was the ad the bottom of the page. :laugh3:

Unfortunately for me, I like beer, cider and cigarettes, so posting here kind of makes me a hypocrit. But at least I know those things are bad for me. What scares me is all the things we don't know about.
