Coldplay sends Britons to sleep

Bedtime reading

Coldplay is the preferred music choice to send Britons off to sleep at night, a survey has revealed.

The clean cut rock band fronted by Chris Martin topped a poll of artists lulling Brits into slumber. The dulcet tones of James Blunt, Snow Patrol, Take That and Norah Jones completed the `kip parade,` top five according to a study undertaken by Travelodge. Jordan`s autobiography scooped the top spot among the celebrity books Brits were turning to for the best bedtime story.

The autobiographical offerings of David Beckham, Jodie Marsh, Coleen McLoughlin and Sharon Osbourne, were all voted highly effective sleep-inducing reading. Leigh McCarron of Travelodge said: "The research shows that we are increasingly relying on slow, sleepy music and unchallenging books to take our minds off the pressures of modern living, to help us switch off and get to sleep at night."

i definitely agree. i've got a playlist for nights that i can't sleep, and it's mostly comprised of coldplay. and AROBTTH is literally the only thing that can get me to fall asleep some nights. i thank coldplay for not having me die of sleep deprivation yet.

And the best tv show to send Britons to sleep is Coronation Street.

A stupid misconception is that music shouldn't make you fall asleep. one of my friends once told me that the music I listened to would make him fall asleep. and I should've been like "exactly! that's how you know it's good!"

Seriously though, parachutes at night is indescribably sensational.

sometimes when i was in india i used to listen everyday one coldplay song of

my favorite and also the same when i came here too and...it really gives me a lot of pleasure while sleeping(especially Chris dreams)

COLDPLAY BEAT SNOOZEPATROL TO BE THE MOST YAWN INDUCING BAND

Having missed out on the publicity coup of having Lenny Henry promote them, Travelodge have hit back with a survey of people's sleeping habits. When they polled the depressed salesmen and adulterers who probably stay with them, they discovered that the music of Coldplay is the most likely to send you to sleep.

The band beat off (well, if they could get that channel in their rooms) stiff competition from Snoozepatrol, Snorah Jones, Take Nap and James, erm, Blunt to finish on top, no doubt celebrating the win with a nice micro-biotic rusk.

We've run out of sleep-related puns for this story so might have to have a little lie down whilst listening to Coldplay's album X Y ZZZZZZZZZZ.

Coldplay's Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends Will Probably Put You To Sleep

chris_martin_sleeping.jpg

Coldplay are releasing their lengthily titled fourth album Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends in June. There are ten tracks produced by Brian Eno (!) and Markus Dravs. We have the tracklist. But first, a British survey's just confirmed what we already knew: These songs will make you fall asleep. Via The Telegraph:

Music by British band Coldplay is our favourite choice for drifting off to sleep at night, a survey has found.

The clean cut rock band topped the "kip parade" in a poll undertaken by Travelodge, with James Blunt, Snow Patrol, Take That and Norah Jones completing the top five.

Jordan's autobiography was voted most soothing bedtime story, with David Beckham, Jodie Marsh and Sharon Osbourne also providing highly effective soporific reading.

Leigh McCarron of Travelodge said: "We are increasingly relying on slow, sleepy music and unchallenging books to take our minds off the pressures of modern living... Coldplay and Jordan seem to hit just the right spot among Britain's insomniacs."

So Coldplay's got ten new sheep for you to count, and they have names:

01 - "Life In Technicolor"

02 - "Cemeteries Of London"

03 - "Lost!"

04 - "42"

05 - "Lovers In Japan/Reign Of Love"

06 - "Yes"

07 - "Viva La Vida"

08 - "Violet Hill"

09 - "Strawberry Swing"

10 - "Death And All His Friends"

Not that you'll need any help getting shut-eye, but also rest assured that Chris Martin's mother-in-law told People his marriage with Gwyneth is strong. Phew!

Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends is out 6/17 on Capitol.

Ok guys, the last two nights i did experements to see which albums made me fall asleep faster

Parachutes i fell asleep somewhere during yellow track 5

AROBTH i fell asleep during the scientist track 4

tonight i will try X & Y

you fell asleep during yellow??

I fall asleep during heavy metal music sometimes so the type of music doesn't really make a difference with me. Coldplay is relaxing, though, but at the same time the music is beautiful and some of the songs rock pretty hard, like Twisted Logic towards the end of the song.

I don't get how anyone can fall asleep during Coldplay.

I end up singing along and get all these thoughts zooming through my head and the last thing I can do is sleep..

I don't get how anyone can fall asleep during Coldplay.

Give sparks, parachutes, we never change, careful where you stand, for you, easy to please, I bloom blaum, and help is just around the corner a try when you're really tired.

Lol I will do, I'm quite intrigued as to whether it will work.

I have also fallen asleep while listening to metal. As long as the music is familiar and comforting, it can help you sleep. Will put me to sleep once on the Rush of Blood to the Head interview CD. He has a soothing voice.
